This creats a cross fire effect that no aircraft should be able to break through. If thers only one targe maybe have a 3rd help out.. By randomly shooting in targets direction... This should take care of sig zaging. In fact, make the 3rd one shoot at a completely random speed 1-1.002.8 seconds apart. Maybe a random 2..267 pause every. Once in awhile...

Everything smaller than a Destroyer, including the Frigates lack any kind of CIWS system to counter sea-skimming cruise missiles. You'd think after the Royal Navy's experience in the Falkland Island with Exocets that the next generation would have had CIWS guns without question but, "no" for some inexplicable reason. The new ships have them ... carriers, Type 45, Type 26 a generation later but not the Frigates for some bizarre reason. It's not because of ship size. Is it strictly pounds and schillings?

No more battleships with big guns onboard at all now then? When did they become obsolete , and what is the reasoning behind that choice.. Better air power, more accurate long distance missile systems? Be interested to hear why.
@lachlanchester8142
@lachlanchester8142 7 ай бұрын
Not had those for a very long time! I’m no expert but yeah I think the advancement and introduction of missiles is the main factor, they are much more accurate and can be fired from many more miles away. There’s still smaller guns that can target land based targets but the bombardment from old battleships can now be done more easily by planes, drones and artillery. Interestingly I think there is some refurbished ships from the age of battleships in some navies like the US navy, and I believe the US also keep battleships in their fleet for ceremonial stuff or to keep their government quota on how many ships their navy must have at one time

Yeah the QE's can cruise pretty far on full fuel from what is public knowledge, and they have to restock for food and everything. And with some country's not allowing nuclear powered ships access to there ports including some Commonwealth members the non nuclear option seems to make sense for us. Atleast at the moment.
@ThatCarGuy
@ThatCarGuy 3 жыл бұрын
@@lewisallan9963 Always that one person trying to argue on a comment praising the UK. The QE class can go on mission for 45 days, the Nimitz can go on missions for 90 days. " Both HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales will keep 45 days' worth of food in its stores." "The ships normally carries enough food and supplies to operate for 90 days. Four distilling units enable NIMITZ-class engineers to make over 400,000 gallons of fresh water from seawater a day, for use by the propulsion plants, catapults and crew. The ship carries approximately 3 million gallons of fuel for her aircraft and escorts, and enough weapons and stores for extended operations without replenishment." "And with some country's not allowing nuclear powered ships" 99 percent of the world allows nuclear powered ships. Australia allows them. "tourism Minister, Mark McGowan today welcomed more than 5,000 senior officers and crew aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) to Western Australia." Italy? They allow them... "For years a dozen Italian seaports have been decrying the risks they run as bases for nuclear powered or nuclear armed U.S. warships (submarines, aircraft carriers): Augusta, Brindisi, Cagliari, Castellammare di Stabia, Gaeta, La Maddalena, La Spezia, Livorno, Napoli, Taranto, Trieste, Venezia." Germany? The UK? France? "Nimitz conducted her second abnormally dangerous navigational detail of the deployment as she transited the English Channel (with its high volume of shipping) en route from Wilhelmshaven, West Germany, to Brest, France." Japan? "Ronald Reagan made five deployments to the Pacific and Middle East between 2006 and 2011 while based at Naval Air Station North Island. In October 2015, Ronald Reagan replaced USS George Washington as the flagship of Carrier Strike Group Five, the only forward-based carrier strike group home-ported at Yokosuka, Japan, as part of the United States Seventh Fleet" South Korea? "U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Michael D. White, the commander of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 11 and Rear Adm. William McQuilkin, the commander of U.S. Naval Forces Korea, pose with local dignitaries aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in Busan, " India? "The carrier departed North Island for its thirteenth deployment on 2 April 2007 to the Arabian Sea, relieving USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in support of OIF. It anchored off Chennai, India on 2 July 2007 as part of efforts to expand bilateral defense cooperation between India and the United States." 25-29 May 1991: Nimitz anchored at Dubai 11-12 Mar 1993: Nimitz sailed through the Strait of Malacca 18 Jun 1993: Nimitz sailed outbound through the Strait of Hormuz into the Arabian Sea 13-14 Feb 1998: Nimitz anchored off Port Suez, Egypt, and passed through the Suez Canal 21-23 Apr 1985: Nimitz anchored in Augusta Bay, Sicily, to turn over to Dwight D. Eisenhower. 31 Dec 1988-6 Jan 1989: Nimitz anchored at Singapore , affording her crew their first port of call after 71 punishing days at sea.

@@ThatCarGuy Still copy pasting your stand by nonsense I see Car Guy. Sorry but we do not need nor want nuclear carriers. there is no discernable benfit and certainly not for the costs involved. As the USS Gerald R Ford has proved - $18 Bn vs $10 Bn for two Qes. The bloke was making the point that a nuclear carrier will have places it cannot go (in peacetime). So chill out and just accept it. I am sure he didn't need a 40 line lecture quoting events from the '80s and '90s. The other factor is the sheer size of a Nimitz will also reduce options. And then you go off on your pro nuclear anti UK stuff I see Car Guy. No doubt you will throw the 'troll’ word at me as you have before. But trolls don't dissect your comments as I have frequently. Let me take ONE piece of your ignorance: "The QE class can go on mission for 45 days, the Nimitz can go on missions for 90 days." And then fabricate that food is some sort of limit. It isn't. Just as its not with a CVN. Both carriers require RAS and have supply ships in their Groups. CVN's also require weapon and aviation fuel replenishment. So there is NO benefit to a nuclear carrier above a conventional carrier. And especially not at treble the build cost and $12 Bn more per ship to operate. Of course having 3 times the number of crew in a Nimitz requires more .....food! You do what all Yanks do: You project what the USA does as the way things should be and when folks disagree you then get arrogant. Chill out dude and discuss do not dismiss. And we need NO lectures from you.

Catapults are better in the abstract but the decision is what best on limited budget with CATOBAR requiring a lot of extra training and crew as well as the system cost. There are a lot of arguments on both sides, if you compare with the US they use catapults on the 100k tonne ships and don't on the 45k tonne ships.

@@leotran9259 no they aren’t. The f35C and B variants are over 60% different planes. And the QE carrier can’t just start chopping up its flight deck to add catapults. The whole jump ramp would need removing. The elevators at the back would need removing and replacing with a catch wire. The whole deck is the wrong design for catapult and landings. And then we don’t even have the jets to operate the catapult because we don’t own any and like I said, the C and B are completely different planes so they can’t be updated or upgraded.
