Every Canadian school kid should be given the opportunity to experience the true Canada....It would make us all better as a community.

Yes, absolutely! It’s an incredible opportunity for a young student to experience a whole different part of our beautiful country. As a high school student from a small rural town in Québec, I actually had such an opportunity; with my English class, we did a bilingual exchange with a French immersion class from Manitoba. They visited us for one week, and we went to their town for one week. It was so much fun!! Québec and Manitoba are so different on so many levels, especially culturally, which was very interesting and also beautiful. Despite the differences, everyone had such a friendly and welcoming attitude. This experience made me want to continue to work hard on my English skills and now, I’m a translator (English to French). ❤️

Has there been a case when the ice wouldn't break and then the ship couldn't reverse because it went too far up the ice?
@jacekszymanski78575 жыл бұрын
not during my sail
@philipellington5 жыл бұрын
Probably not. My guess is they have radar to detect thick ice like that and the ships are extremely strong anyways. Commercial ships have gotten stuck like this, though.

In March 1984 I was on the Louie, NE coast of NFLD, bay Verte I believe, the wind struck off NE and rafted the ice up 15 -20 feet high, we were stuck in that bay for 22 days, each day we would make an attempt full ahead and astern but couldn't break free of the pack ice.

Yeah they don't need to lay the ice/ship/weather sounds over people talking. Interesting video though.
