My uncle did almost the exact same exercise with the RAF. He was dropped in to a remote area in Scotland and told to survive, living off the land and gathering resources before being picked up at a rendezvous point. Lucky bugger found a lovely couple in a farmhouse who were delighted to have the company! They put him up in the barn with a comfy bed, 3 square meals a day and a tv.....not sure if this happens behind enemy lines, so it may have defeated the object.
@jimfraser7344 жыл бұрын
Jez Creed no offence mate. But the RAF do not have a course remotely like this. If your talking about Air Crew Escape and Evasion then that is an attendance course. There is no pass or fail they just attend it. The course here is a world apart from that, as is the syllabus.

I went on an exercise once with the Royal Marines. They gave us a dead rabbit and a potato for dinner. I cooked it and ate some. It was minging, tasted like rabbit poo. So I reached into my smock and pulled out my emergency rations that I had brought with me. No one said we couldn't. That's the RAF way.

The essentials, water, shelter, food are literally key to staying alive. Things like staying clean and dry are also major threats.
