Oh man, this is making want to hear their Vissi D'arte. Their passion is remarkable. They are truly aware that they are recreating art. It's making want to visit London just for them.

Maestro. We had a wonderful evening at ROH last night; the tenor from Kent we were hoping to hear was not on duty, but Anna Pirozzi sung exceptionally well, delicate and huge power, precisely when called for. After many Tosca attendances over several decades, yesterday was totally different, and thanks to this hugely educational video of yours. Thank you Maestro ever so much. You have such a ‘way’ of putting things across, with charm and enthusiasm unbounded for the music. Graczie mille

Tony and his father were my teachers about a million years ago. What a talent! It is one of my greatest privileges to have studied with them.

No one will agree, but to me Tosca is Puccini's greatest opera, his most profound.

Pappano's discussion gives the impression that each Act is a tableau of a different aspect of Rome, a kind of collage that surrounds us with a variety of sensual splendor. Where is the storyline that connects the three Acts, after all, the composer's intent is to tell a story? There is no sense of continuity in Pappano's account and it - continuity - is the essential aspect of Tosca..
