I know how I found it ;) Saf. But I stayed for Katie's sweet helpfulness. Though this soap I'd have been off once I heard "coffee" (migraine trigger) if not for the small biz tips. As a crafter who had to move away from my established customer base, it's been hard to get going here. ESP. since my art/craft is hard to ship and is sold for less than the cost of materials on sites like Etsy.... and I'm always ready to learn from others who have made their crafting full time financially viable.

Me too. I have tried and tried and they are always wobbly and go from shallow to deep and back again. I decided that I don't really mind a "rough" edge on my soap, because the people who buy from me are just excited to get something handmade.

here in Italy we have very different eating habits, plus we're kinda picky with our coffee (aka we generally think starbucks style coffees are crap 😅), so pumpkins are not the first choice for treats or desserts (we mainly use them in soups, risotti and roast side dishes), but I personally love a good pumpkin cheesecake 🤤🤤🤤

Love the small business advice girl! Also love your attitude towards community vs competition. I used to have a very small handmade jewlery biz a couple years ago and the people in my local area selling handmade items were so cut throat and cliquey about the whole thing.. it made me lose interest in pursuing any further because I much more aligned with your mentality! I've been thinking about starting a soap biz since quitting the jewlery, and your advice and bubbly personality really encourages me to go after the dream! Thanks so much Katie 🎃🎀

As for apples, there’s this little ice cream shop in the town I went to college in (shout out to Ultimate Ice Cream in Asheville, NC!) that used to do a seasonal flavor that was sweet cream apple butter swirl and it was to die for! It was an Italian sweet cream ice cream base with a swirl of locally made apple butter running through it and it was fantastic! A runner up for apple stuff are spiced apple cider slushees. They’re hard to find, but they’re amazing! Literally just spiced fresh pressed apple cider run through a slushee machine.

Oooh, one of my favorite things about fall is that after carving and scraping out pumpkins, my mom toasts the seeds (which I live off of for the next week) then makes pumpkin halva. It’s pretty simple to make (just cook the pumpkin and add brown sugar, maybe some honey, cardamom, maybe cinnamon, and maybe some other spices) but it’s SO GOOD. Warm and toasty and almost floral in its sweetness. Highly recommend

My favorite pumpkin thing is pumpkin fluff. Take a small pack of vanilla pudding and 1/2 the milk the package calls for. Wish together and add a small can of pumpkin, about 2 cups if using fresh puree. Fold in a small container of cool whip. Serve with grahm crackers or ginger snaps for dipping.

Question about using the colors: Why do you sometimes have the pigment in a liquid and sometimes just a powder?
@Leetreebee3 жыл бұрын
From my understanding it just makes it easier to mix sometimes!
@crysellium3 жыл бұрын
Yup! Just helps the colorant disperse. It's particularly helpful for Titanium Dioxide and Black Oxide iirc
@mwater_moon28653 жыл бұрын
TD and black will both clump badly if it's not a liquid when it goes in, and powders can "poof" when trying to mix them in if the sides aren't high enough. but mixing it into yourself to an oil can make a mess and be wasteful esp if you're afraid of putting the oil ratios off. Think Kraft mac and cheese powder vs. Velveeta liquid.

Definitely appreciate the business tips as I’m not experienced in that area. Sometimes my imagination gets the better of me and I forget practical things so the tips are super helpful to balance big dreams with some realism!😁

I remember when I got this soap (I think last year?) I ended up halving it with my best friend as a gift and she was definitely in LOVE with this one. Definitely a pleasant one for the spooky months and super pretty! I like BOTH apple and pumpkin! My mom has this amazing Pumpkin cobbler, and I have my nana's recipe for Apple dumplings. Both are definite seasonal favorites!

Yes, love small biz tips! Although I've had different experiences with craft shows, I think you have a lot to offer as far as running a business as it grows.

This is the month of soaps that make me hungry!! I want to get those pumpkin shaped candy corn candies now. ...I'm going to have go get pumpkin coffee or something tomorrow. I always get some apple cider every year, and some caramel apples. I mostly enjoy pumpkin in my coffee, but pumpkin pies are great too.

Love this soap! If you took away all the embeds and the coffee beans, it reminds me of a layered pumpkin cheesecake with the cute swirls! Which is one of my favorite fall pumpkin desserts!

Every year I REQUIRE a caramel apple covered in peanuts! My family also enjoys going to an apple orchard in our state that also makes the most amazing apple wine and apple wine slushies! If you're ever in PA I recommend going to Grims (could be Grimms) apple orchard!
