the only thing I never liked about Royce was when he submitted someone, he almost always held the submission several seconds after the ref tried to stop it... The guy taps, the ref tries to separate them, and Royce would keep choking or putting pressure on an arm or leg hold... Absolutely one of the best to ever do this stuff, so he never had to be dirty like that at the end... never really liked him because of it.. Hackney had experience in Wrestling and JuJutsu, (later submission) his sprawl would be good in ANY era. I've not seen, in over 30 yrs anything in modern training or modern MA that has improved or upped the standard of the sprawl for anyone trained in wrestling at up to even varsity HS level, Catch or other formats of submission grappling (Shamrock's sprawl is as good as any today in his early 90s prime.). There is an exception in judo. With the outlawing of morote-gari (and such like) in competition, their sprawl has suffered in dojos where all sparring follows competition formats.

Back when it was actually UFC - different fighting styles compete to see who's the best .. Now it's the same shit all MMA fighters . I know things evolved but this was the Golden era for the UFC .. BJ Pen , Anderson Silva , Chuck Liddell , Rampage , Vitor , all those great fighters was the last good generation to watch in my opinion. Of course there's good fighters & fights now but it's not the same .. That's why slap boxing, celebrity boxing etc is growing because the UFC is to cliche now
