The largest countries in the world in terms of population are China and India, with both countries now having populations of well over a billion. The United States comes in third with just under 325 million residents. The BRIC countries ( Brazil, Russia, India and China), generally regarded as the four major emerging economies expected to dominate in the 21st century, are all in the top ten most populous countries, indicating how important the sheer size of their populations are to their economic expansion.
However, a number of countries considered by the International Monetary Fund to be developing countries (that is, having not achieved a high degree of industrialization relative to their populations, and where the population typically has a medium to low standard of living) also have sizeable populations, including Nigeria (over 190 million), Bangladesh (almost 165 million) and Mexico (around 129 million), demonstrating that the issues affecting developing nations span multiple continents.
It is notable that a number of the largest economies in the world have smaller populations, particularly in Europe. The United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy are all among the top ten largest economies and all have populations of under 100 million. Their numbers range from 82 million (Germany) to just under 60 million (Italy).
Furthermore, several extremely small countries, such as Monaco, Luxembourg, and the Cayman Islands - all with fewer than a million residents - play a much larger role in the financial world than their population numbers would suggest. In contrast, Canada, which is also a major economic player and one of the largest countries in the world by landmass, has a relatively small population for its size, with around 36.5 million residents.

Population in India increased by 13,586,631 with a Fertility rate of 2.1 (replacement level) and a Population growth rate of 0.99% between 2019-2020. which is going down every year. now the fertility rate is 2.0 with a Population growth rate of 0.95%. and the most populated age group is 20-24 years so the population will peak by 2045-2050 when the most populated age group will be between 45-49 or 50-54 years.

We gained 20 crores between 2001 and 2011. This can be reduced if our govts give attention to Health and education, only few govts like Kerala, AAP govt in Delhi, Odisha(now), Sikkim knows how to take care of its people.

НО! 1) Не учитывается фактор различных катастроф/бедствий, прямым образом влияющий на рождаемость. Очень надеюсь, что этим человечество будет как можно меньше сталкиваться, однако опыт последнего года говорит слегка об обратном. А ведь в отдельных местах планеты уже есть проблемы с продовольствием и недостатком питьевой воды. 2) Когда идёт утверждение, что у африканцев и азиатов продолжится увеличение населения, а в некоторых странах, будет аж бум роста; то не учитывается тот фактор, что те процессы в укладе жизни, которые происходят уже довольно давно у европейцев, дойдут и до бывших "третьих" стран. Например, эмансипация, которая является одной из причин уменьшения рождаемости. Когда женщина предпочитает карьеру, а семья стоит на втором месте. Плюс, современные достижения медицины, которые резко сокращают детскую смертность, дойдут и до Африки. Это приведёт к тому, что не нужно будет рожать много детей для обеспечения продолжения потомства. 3) Для многих стран, в особенности для России, очень многое будет зависеть от политики людей, стоящих во главе государства. Сколько потрясений у нас было в перестройку и 1990-е гг., когда женщины рожали мало, а смертность увеличилась в разы? Сейчас стали рожать хорошо, но смертность не уменьшается, а даже наоборот, ситуация становится хуже. 4) Ну, и совсем фантастическое. Что если до конца текущего века станет возможным относительное бессмертие? Тогда ситуация с демографией совершенно поменяется...
