Lyrics:
Darkness falls and she will take me by the hand
Take me to some twilight land
Where all but love is grey
Where I can't find my way
Without her as my guide
Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell
Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn and burn eternally
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
In the night of love words tangled in her hair
Words soon to disappear
A love so sharp it cut
Like a switchblade to my heart
Words tearing me apart
She tears again my bleeding heart
I want to run she's pulling me apart
Fallen angel cries and I just melt away
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
Haunted by her side is the darkness in her eyes
That so enslaves me
But if my love is blind
Then I don't want to see
She's a mystery to me
Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell
Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell
Am I left to burn and burn eternally
She's a mystery to me
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl
She's a mystery girl

Bono wrote this song for roy after he went to a U2 concert with his wife!...Bono heard he was in the audience and invited roy and his wife backstage!...at this point Bono was toying with this song, but realised it didn't suit his own voice, so he took the opportunity to ask Roy to sing it, while he produced it! 👍

Where do you find a voice yesterday, or today as the one owned by Roy Orbison? His wide range, perfect pitch, pure sound, and masculine tone puts him on another level. Unequal in the good looks, charisma and charm of Elvis Presley I think his voice equals or even surpasses that of the king. And what a song, “ she’s a mystery to me.” It rings true for so many men. @@tommyzeus2802 And yet, the elites have still thrived, led everyone astray, and maintained the unequal status quo. Most people still feel they are slaves. And profits, housing, nice cars, doing well mean so much more to most than helping our fellow men. But then with our failed culture, what could we teach them?? Our non culture, or the culture of sell out for money, is an anti culture stance. It does not value relationships, friends, the everyday society, like it once did. It just uses and abuses them. I’m not sure I can think of a better example of when a song, singer, musicians and production all combine as well as this to create something this close to musical perfection. The song is as good as any Bono has written (and as good as any Roy sang), it’s utterly _perfect_ for Roy’s voice, and the musicians (you’ve got Benmont Tench and Jim Keltner, for crying out loud!) play _exactly_ what’s right for the song - no more, no less. I first heard this as a kid, it blew me away then and it blows me away now.

From Wikipedia - During a restless night of sleep in June 1987 in London during U2's Joshua Tree Tour, Bono slept with the soundtrack to the film Blue Velvet CD on repeat. The CD had been given to him by the Edge's wife. The soundtrack includes the song "In Dreams" by Orbison. When he woke the following morning, Bono had a tune in his head which he assumed was from the soundtrack. He soon realized it wasn't, so he wrote down the basic structure of the song. Later that day he sang the unfinished song to the band at their pre-concert soundcheck at Wembley Arena. After the concert, Orbison paid the band an unannounced visit backstage, where a perplexed Bono played the song for him. Bono and Orbison worked again on the song in mid-November in Los Angeles.

I'm so happy that Roy's music is staying alive through pop culture, he deserves it! This song made me cry too because he didn't get to see the album released, and because the woman put on sunglasses just like his. He left this place way too soon. RIP Roy.

Darkness falls and she will take me by the hand Take me to some twilight land Where all but love is grey Where I can't find my way Without her as my guide Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell Am I left to burn and burn eternally She's a mystery to me She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl In the night of love words tangled in her hair Words soon to disappear A love so sharp it cut Like a switchblade to my heart Words tearing me apart She tears again my bleeding heart I want to run she's pulling me apart Fallen angel cries and I just melt away She's a mystery to me She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl Haunted by her side is the darkness in her eyes That so enslaves me But if my love is blind Then I don't want to see She's a mystery to me Night falls I'm cast beneath her spell Daylight comes our heaven turns to hell Am I left to burn and burn eternally She's a mystery to me She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl She's a mystery girl

A song by Roy Orbison, written by Bono and the Edge of U2. AmaZInG!! Bono wrote this at the motel room after a restless night of sleep in June 1987 in London (Joshua Tree Tour). Bono slept with Blue Velvet soundtrack on repeat (the CD had been given to him by the Edge's wife). He woke with the basic structure of the song in her mind. Bono, the Edge and Roy finished the song together at Roy's house. "She's a Mistery Girl" became Roy's last hit and his first plantinum (unfortunately Roy never knew about his own first platinum because he passed away)

U2 were in the studio when Roy came in, Bono had wanted to do a song with him so they played the instrumental as he hunkered over his mic unmoving. U2 finished the play through and said “wanna try that now?” to which Roy said give it a listen first. That’s the version we have here, lost his wife and daughter terribly. Savant.

I love Roy Orbison, and this song means a great deal to me, and the fact it was played in the movie Aquaman, my husband's favourite move in his last few weeks, he couldn't watch it enough, and was in tears when this beautiful song was played. Now I'm in tears just listening to this fabulous man, as my husband passed suddenly, 4th March 2020. Thank you KZbin.

It's a great story. Bono had been listening to "In Dreams" from the Blue Velvet soundtrack, and fell asleep to it. He woke up with this song in his head, thinking it was a Roy Orbison song. That night, backstage in London (Joshua Tree tour), he played it for the boys, who said it sounded good, like a Roy Orbison song. That was when someone came back and said Roy Orbison wanted to meet them. Roy told them how much he liked the show, and asked if they wanted to do a song together.

Simply sublime.... Roy's vocals are unmatchable. Such an incredible range, which clearly Bono considered when he wrote it, cause even in his falsetto he cant comfortably reach those notes, yet Roy does it efforlessly. "A love so sharp it cut like a switchblade to my heart..."... Damn! Such lyrics!
