How to Replace the Right (Passenger) Rear Outer Door Handle on a 1999 Toyota Corolla

Tools Used:
-3/8in ratchet.
-T30 torque.
-1/4in ratchet.
-1/4in extension.
-10mm socket.
-Philips screwdriver.
-Small flat tip screwdriver.
-Window crank handle lock remover.
-Three different types of door trim & panel removers.
-Spray adhesive.

Very much appreciated installation instructions. Winter in northern Michigan takes its toll on these cheap plastic handles. This is my first outer handle to break. I was surprised how easy the inner handles were to replace. This gives me a whole lot of confidence 😊

Oh man thank you very much! I worked the problem on my own until I got to the rear bolt of the handle, briefly considered DRILLING AN ACCESS HOLE and then paused, reconsidered and reminded myself that this is a Toyota, not a Ford. Thanks very much for making this video. ありがとう!

@@RoysGarage808 Good advise! I let it sit over night and in the morning I got it in. A long handled screwdriver helped with the plastic fork positioning. Good job with the video!

Before putting that plastic piece on.Bolt the latch back on and then pull down on the metal thing then slide the plastic thing over it and done.

Thanks for the video! The only issue I had was the plastic of the old handle was so brittle that the threaded inserts were spinning in place when I tried to loosen the bolts. I had to break apart the rest of the old plastic handle to get to the threaded inserts, then hold it in place with pliers while I loosened the bolts with my socket wrench.

So I really messed up. While putting the latch I dont think it caught on the lever, so now I cant open from the outside. To make matters worse , the child lock was left on , so I cant open from the inside. I tries activating the latch from the inside by pulling down the lever with my hand but it doesnt seem to work

I have a 1999 Corolla VE. On the front driver side I can open the door from the outside but not from the inside. I took the door panel off and can see the rod attached to the inside handle like it should be. If I tug on the rod it moves but won't open the door. I used a flashlight but I can't see what's wrong. Can I remove the lock assembly with 3 screws like you did for the rear door? i dont' want to get in over my head. Do you have any other advice? Thank you for sharing.

Try to install the remover the opposite side of the handel.

@@RoysGarage808 got it off thanks. The exterior handle didn't fit. I've ordered one that does. I couldn't leave the door like it was I had to put the latch on to close the door. I tried pulling the linkage but I can't get the door open now. Can you help me figure out how to open the door without any handles because at this point both interior and exterior are off.
