Galen, I’m 62 with a Rpod 180, my hope is that I have as much fun as you do when I’m in my eighties...happy travels and fantastic mods on your rig. Save travels and God bless.

Chuey, Glad you enjoyed it. This life on the road is Great. Some people think I am nuts buying a trailer at 80 years old, but the Good Lord pulled me along this long, so my travels will only stop when, maybe I'll make 100, my health is Great. So keep up your dreams, and the Lord will help you. God Bless.

Hi Galen, I must say that I really enjoyed your video for not only your wonderful modifications, but for your quite pleasant look on things and positive attitude towards life in general. God bless you and your wife and enjoy your travels. My wife and I are in our mid 60's and you give us much to look forward to in our rpod 179. We hope to be like you guys. :)

That's a smart use of the empty space above the bed by putting a cabinet up there! Hopefully Forest River will see this and update their design!

Great modifications!! I also own a 2017 RPod 180 but I live in mine full time year round. You've given me some great ideas and you found all the flaws. I hope to be changing out my table soon. Even the cushion remedy was great, I put some Velcro on the base and cushion and that's how I keep em from sliding. I'm just turning 65 and you've given me great hope and inspiration. Thank you and safe travels!

You are quite the handy man!!! I just bought a 176 three weeks ago. I would love to have those metal boxes you have on the front and back. Those are so handy. I too have a heater under the dinette/bed. I would like to have a tiny propane fireplace where my wardrobe is. How nice you get to be snowbirds. I hope you enjoy many good years together. Thanks for showing us your modifications (((very nice)))!!!

Wow! You are full of great ideas! We have a 177 and have done quite a few mods (did videos on some of them too - solar panels, storage, composting toilet, etc.), but you really have done a lot to your RPod! Thank for sharing & hope to see you out there somewhere 🌞-Heather

great mods for your unit. No camper is perfect, for sure. I like our SonicLite 167 VMS and we had to get better overhead LED lights (that swivel), get a better showerhead, and add a couple temporary shelves in a closet. Enjoy your travels! Be safe.

Happy you enjoyed the video. Probably the best Mod was the cabinets above the bed. In a 180, there is not much storage with the Bathroom I love, so with that cabinet, I can store a lot of clothes and have room left over. The drawer under the seat is my breadbox. The cabinet is very easy to built. The bottom is a 20"x8' board I bought from Lowe's, The doors I picked up on E-bay. Anyway, that's the best mod I added to the Pod. Very useful. Good Luck with your's. They are a blast to travel with.

Great video, and you did a fantastic job with all the modifications. Can you discuss more or another video on how you built and installed the cabinets above the bed? They look so perfect, I'd like to do the exact same thing, but I'm not nearly as skilled as you are. Also, on the battery box and double propane tank modification, did you have to weld wider supports onto the trailer?

I enjoyed your video, thank you for posting it! My wife and I have the same R Pod and would like to use some of your ideas. My question is what type of fasteners did you use to attach items to the walls? I am concerned that the walls are flimsy and will not hold the weight of shelves and screws will pull out. Thanks!

thanks for sharing all your improvements! they are wonderful! it's always so interesting to see how people personalize their rpod and improve the performance of the trailer. love all that you have done-especially the beautiful cabinets over the bed! i too wondered why such a great space was wasted, have thought about putting up a shelf, but really like the cabinets. did you do them yourself? great job all around!
@galenyoder31506 жыл бұрын
Yes, I built the cabinets. Went to Lowes and bought a 20"x 8 foot 3/4" board for the bottom, anchored it with angle brackets to the wall, then went on Ebay and found the doors that would fit my application, then built the front to fit the doors. It really wasn't hard to do, but really gave us a lot of room for our clothing and other things. Don't know why they didn't put it in, but it probably would of cost another $1000 for about $150 it cost me.

I think your ideas are terrific. We have a StarCraft comet which looks amazingly like your R-Pod. My first question for you concerns the 12 V TV that you added. We already had a 110 TV where you said you moved years at the foot of the bed. But the one that you installed under your entertainment center that is 12 V, where did you pick up the 12 V to operate it. Questions from a fellow Arizonan from Apache Junction
@firemarshal176 жыл бұрын
Ps. I don’t see a subscribe button on your channel. Would you consider adding one? I think your ideas are ingenious and I would like to communicate more with you. Are you near Apache Junction? Do you have email? Mine is djgoebelt@gmail.com.
@galenyoder31506 жыл бұрын
I tied it into the 12 volt at my 12 volt entertainment center. You have to remove the cd/radio unit and find out where the live 12 volt is, there I tied in a lighter socket to run my 12 volt T.V.. I moved the 110 Volt T.V. to the other side, with all the connections run thru a wire fitting along the top of the roof to the other side. On that T.V. I have my dish network connected thru a Trucker Receiver mounted on the roof. It auto finds all my menu's no mater where I am in the country. If I have no 110 electric out in the Boonies, I connect it to my 2000 watt converter that I have built in my trailer. I am now back in Arizona for the winter after an 8000 mile traveling summer. If you ever get out Brenda,Az ( 12 miles east of Qsite) stop in and have a look. Desert Gold RV Resort, highway 60. Galen

Is your catalytic heater permanently mounted to the wall? Also, any problem with the extra tongue weight that you added? And what size propane tanks did you put upfront to replace the single 20 pound? You've given me A lot to think about. We don't have an R pod. We have a satellite, which is kind of like it's twin. So lots of good ideas. Thank you
@firemarshal176 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering my questions. We will probably be out near Quartzsite not this winter but next because I have a friend who installs solar. I’m going to put 26for lithium batteries upfront and I found a very nice locking cabinet on Amazon. So once I get done paying for that I can afford to have a panel or two put on the roof and have the charge controller and apertinences installed. It would be nice to meet up
