First, its 2019 and this is still relevant. Love these videos! Question: I want to make it so that when my player gets an encounter on the overworld map, instead of starting a battle it will transfer the player to a specified map where enemies are randomly spawned along with a "miniboss" which once defeated will transfer the player back to his/her original position on the overworld map. I cannot seem to figure it out on my own.

lies! the most important part is the story,characters and grammar :3 oh the troops page is where you would have cool stuff like battle dialog and other stuff. i love it makes battle more interesting. one thing i hate about battles is how damage is random. it would be ncie if it always did set damage based on your offense vs the enemies defense.

4:50 Question, so how do weights work? Like is it: *Weight / Total weight* for the chance of encountering? Like, the odds of encountering, "Bat, Orc, Minotaur" would be 2/5? Another example: I have 2 troop types. A marine and a fire bat. Marine weight is set to 75, and fire bat is set to 25. So, the chance to encounter a fire bat would be 25/100 right? Or am I totally wrong and this is calculated in some other way? Help!

I'm working a classic ( Parasite Eve 1) remake in MV. It will be a long time before its even close to complete! I have made 5 completed games already using Ace! Custom Scripts, Animations, Unique skills, and some Custom Sprites... If you create a new event, have a monster as the image, and set the creature to "fixed" or "approach," I think you can make the battler start up as an event itself. That would mean taking away the Map-specified battler info, though...

I can help! Go to events, set an event called "Setup Battle" or something like that, set up if you want a conditional branch (if you lose a certain thing happens, if you win something else happens) or the alternate choice, which is just boot to the title screen. Then, choose the actual enemies, then you're all set!

When i try to make a tutorial boss for my game everytime i leave the area and come back they respawn when i want them to be gone until later in the game (erasing the event gets rid of them when i'm in the area and when i come back the event comes back)

I got you fam. What you need to do is 1): in the battle processing under "if win", make it trigger either a Switch or a Self-Switch which can be found under the "game progression" section on the first page) and have it turned ON. When the boss is beaten, this will activate the switch. 2) create a second event page (the option is at the top to the right of the "event name" and "notes"). You will see this creates a second tab marked "2" below the name section. 3) switch to the new event page by clicking on the 2 and see that is blank. Leave it this way. Now, in the "Conditions" box to the left you'll tick the box then set whichever Switch or Self-Switch you had turned on with the boss's defeat. With that, when the boss is beaten it will trigger the switch and replace the boss event with a blank event, effectively removing it from the game. Hope that helps.

You can. You have to go into the settings and set the maximum to a higher value in the enemies tab. Then, you can choose which enemy you want via the image selector, and either use a custom character or a premade character.

Can you put your tanky characters in the front to bait aggro from enemies in side veiw battle? Also, is there a plugin or ability to script in mouse and keyoard battles that are real action based that test battle skill in a fluid and dynamic way like some sort of hybrid between Starcraft and League of legends? it doesn't have to be that complex but can you imagine seiken densetsu 3 with mouse controlling a party of characters individually in real time battle with skill shots etc.? Set the event as a movement route, if you want it to be specific you can make the trigger a autorun event (Like a cut screen), have them join the party then set a self switch and make the second page blank but make the trigger the self switch.

That happens when there is no map set to the troop encounter, you can set a battle back to a map by clicking edit and then clicking the "Specify Battleback" tab.

Why are the characters facing the wrong way? I've never seen this in an rpg before and it's really weird. Player should be on the left and enemies should be on the right, like in every game ever (and every movie, every comic book, every picture book etc.). There's gotta be setting for this but I can't find it.

Actually if we are going off Japanese cultural accuracy; most things start on the right side. The original Final Fantasy games (1-6) always had the characters on the right side unless they were surprised attacked.

Well no it has always kind of stayed that way, just with the use of an in game camera, it has became less and less of a focus, as for a flip, there would be no reason to consider it really but you might be able to by changing some system code though a plugin.

Yeah but the system will need to run a check for the character levels at all times, so it'll have to be a common event code, plus you'll need a way to get it to read the levels too, may require some java knowledge.
