I've fallen into the loop of redoing and reworking and then dumping and starting a new project so many times it's not funny. However, now I know pretty much exactly what I'm capable of and exactly the type of game I'm making and all of my experience is there to back me up. I wouldn't suggest going about it that way though because... it took ten years. And I have pretty much nothing to show for it yet.

You can handle the "intense swearing" part by using a switch (to turn the filter on or off completely) or a variable (for different levels of changes), then use conditional branches based on that switch/variable that give you different dialogue based on the filter value. Doing this, you can make a game more friendly to all audiences.

If I can spend a few hours using events / common events to accomplish something that one of Yanfly's scripts would do (which are usually lumped in with about 20 other scripts that you don't actually need, want, or even care about), then I'm gonna do it! Scripts can tend to be bulky, overly complicated, and may even conflict with other scripts that you actually need. Furthermore, each script can be "something else that you have to learn" and we already have to learn the game engine, eventing, etc.. Why should we have to learn yet another thing that we don't really need to know about if we can just- do it our way?

It's been encouraging to watch these videos and realize my tendencies to want perfection is not exclusive to me. @aaron48328 жыл бұрын
I think a trap you left out, which has caught me at least several times, is being so excited to make your game, you have all of these ideas in your head. This place will be so cool, oh oh, and that dungeon will be epic! OMG So, you go off and make those places first - endgame dungeons and your final boss and all of his/her moves, and all of the events etc for the cool things in these dungeons. After a long time spent making these things, you're burnt out -- "Aw... now I have to make the beginning of the game, this will be boring" and you've exhausted all of that enthusiasm and excitement you had beforehand on the things that would be at the end of the game, that are by no means written in stone, as your ideas will almost certainly change as you reach certain points in development. Ultimately, you never finish your game, because you built your big finale at the start and left everything else till last.

Hm ... let's say i made the first dungeon .... and i started to develop my drawing style. since i wasn't good enough in my opinion. Now my plan was to make the first chapter in default look, so that I could start with the first balancing charackters and all that other stuff, taht doesn't really depend on looks. So am I going to be in slump since One of my next step would be drawing my own tiles because i want my own tiles. In my opinion not .. but does it seem like I am already getting stuck? @Echo6078 жыл бұрын
+The Last Tay You can set up 1-3 drop items in Enemies to drop them based on probability. For more items/randomness...
