BOOOOOY! This is ancient history 😂 I loved playing this back in the day, this was a highlight of the week way back when. Our little group went through a lot over the course of the campaign and the combos we came up with each other’s jutsu and particular personality quirks being able to read each other’s actions during combat and the little hiccups that happen along the way really made the squad feel like a tight knit crew by the end, hell this campaign is the reason my KZbin avatar is what it is. Long live Killa Kichi’s anti social chilled out nephew and his Lion’s Hustle 😂

I did a Naruto game using a converted 7th Sea (First Edition) system about a decade ago, too. I set the game in The Village Hidden In the Clouds as they were not introduced in the lore yet so I had free reign to make shit up. Storywise it is probably my best run game to date.... but I blame the players I had on that; they were fantastic!

This has been really cool to vid to discover. A friend of mine also ran an L5R 4e Naruto campaign for us 6 years ago now, so I was looking forward to hearing about your campaign. However I started to have a hunch about somethings when you mentioned "Ninja Exchange Program" and the name "Sousuke". Turns out my GM was your "X" GM!! Ours was an awesome campaign, nice to hear other Naruto campaign joys. Ours was

This sounds soooo interesting! I’m now thinking of running a naruto game of my own since me and my friends loved the anime and it’s hard to get them interested in DnD or some other games I like to play. Maybe a naruto game is just the thing I need to get them interested in playing an rpg 🤔
@HollowTale5 жыл бұрын
I highly suggest savage worlds for it! I may release some of the rules I used down the line to help people with it, but generally speaking you can run it even with the base game. I suggest the wounds thing in the video which we used which was essentially to do wounds as 1/2 vigor + 1 it made the whole High damage high action thing work without people going down too quick! Aside from that swap out some skills and its pretty much there! My groups loved it and we played 3 campaigns over 2/3 years!

@doeliewaaje17615 жыл бұрын
this sounds really good man! To be honest with you, I have some friends that like naruto a BIT too much, so this seems really interesting. do you think savage worlds fits the universe? also, what is your opinion on the damage in savage worlds, because it sometimes seems a bit TOO standardized and random in my opinion.......
@HollowTale5 жыл бұрын
Savage worlds as a system is my go to for anything that I don't have a specific system for. Or if I want to heavily homebrew stuff! It's super flexible and the core mechanics are simple. I think the damage can be standardized which TBF works when it comes to most games. For the whole anime feel though I tied Vigor to Wounds! As it added to the feel of crazy battles. I made it Vigor 1/2+1 that way at the base D4 you have normal wounds but above that you get good amounts!
@doeliewaaje17615 жыл бұрын
Hollow Tale I’ve checked out the details for vigor and wounds, and that system sounds great! Still, I’ll twist it a bit, because my group wants to play FMA now that I’ve shown them your video... So yeah a new 3-5 session campaign in savage worlds coming up! Thanks!!!

@@doeliewaaje1761 oh for sure. The great thing about savage is rules are super nice to twist when needed the system supports it well! Hope you enjoy!!!

I'd love a more in depth look at this system numerically! I'm personally running a pathfinder version of this that I brewed and it would be helpful to do a comparison.
@HollowTale4 жыл бұрын
I am debating doing a more lengthy look at it and a series on looking into different themes and suggestions/home-brews. For pathfinder though definitely look into alternate points casting and reassigning some spells to fit the jutsu feeling. Maybe create a few unique archetypes for classes as Alts to fit the different style of shinobi out there in Naruto! Maybe even check out the sphere casting book for it you could likely get some more ideas to pull on there with pathfinder!
@gryphynthemage4 жыл бұрын
Those are some great ideas! I am doing a variant on the mystic class for 5e as far as the spell casting points go for jutsu and all that. A longer video talking about your system sounds interesting, thanks for the feedback :)

With Naruto d20 being 1k+ pages long and with no updates since 2013, while World of Five Nations is an mess to read through, I'm willing to test out any system that doesn't give me a migraine just from reading it.
@ryedj7073 жыл бұрын
If a system seems complicated, it probably won’t work for anime games that great unless you really spent time learning it as a DM imo. The lighter and more flexible the rules, the better it works for anime.

Do you have the Homebrew rule edits for Savage World that you used? I'm in the process of making one out of Deadlands, but I don't want to recreate the wheel if I don't have to.

Hey I’m actually getting ready to start a naruto 5e home brewed campaign. The mechanics I have are pretty sound, but I also want to start in the academy and I could use some ideas for the plot and different missions/plot twists. Would you be willing to share any of the content you may have left over?

How did you integrate taijutsu into a combat system? I'm trying to make the combat a little more flashy and interesting for my campaign.
@HollowTale4 жыл бұрын
I made it so the taijutsu user would take abilities that basically added effects such as "Strength damage dice X2" or static +1/2/3 depending on the level they put in. I still had them use base chakra for it for the basics for balance sake but also have them the ability to stun/trip depending on the technique! It took some work and back and forth but it was good! Also the gates risked taking wounds off you at the bonus of damage /increased attributes temporarily.
