I have been tearing ass through Extreme as a melee spellcaster, dude. One extra tip if you haven't put it in another video: to grind up early game XP after you get to the island, go to the Coin Arena in the Inn's basement. Beat the first challenge, then keep doing the second fight of the first challenge over and over. This'll quickly get you to at least 6 or 7 before starting any other quests. This has the added benefit of giving you ample practice against standard human enemies, and the audio/visual cues of their attacks so you can effortlessly parry/block them without even seeing them (riflemen eat shit). Only downside is you don't get money here, which baffles me since it's a fighting arena, but whatever.

Are you referring to one handed melee and magic? Or are you referring to one handed heavy weapons like maces and magic (since they feed into each other)?

@@Cloudiroth462 Sorry, I should have specified that by "melee spellcaster," I meant the magical secondary attacks where you repeatedly dash forward and punch people. It scales very well, benefiting even more from upgrading the magic ring skill tree than your standard magical shots, being both more mana efficient and higher DPS (if you can take the heat of melee). EDIT: One final note is that human enemies will block your melee punches more frequently than your ranged attacks, so use that to your advantage if you're just trying to finish someone off.

Ya, you even talk to the front door guy about bets, but you don’t get an option to bet. I personally head to San Matheus and clear out all their hoodlums at night. They drop some pretty good loot. But sneak attack them first because they’re pretty strong in the beginning.

One great tip i missed for most of the game, having a companion in your party will grant you +1 to a certain attribute. Kurt grants +1 craftsman for example. With the cape, three different chest armors, and the gloves combined with swapping out your companions can go a long way to getting you to the attribute requirements you need for quests and crafting.

If you don't want to faff about with craftsmanship upgrades and have money you can use the blacksmith in New Serene to craft any upgrades to any equipment if you have the ingredients.

forget important things along the way, yes i forgot mines, i collected enough to bring down a small mountains and i ended up using it on the final boss, even worse i was invested in the trap tech tree

I found the Traps completely useless. The enemies pass by them and they don't explode. Only upgrade here to get to Throw Vial that is extremely useful. The Stasis power is extremely useful, even if you are not magic. Stasis vials are also very useful.

You can spam the dodge and parry buttons and you will never take direct damage. For Playstation, alternate x and o. Only AOE's can hit you. I learned this as I was on the last two quests on Extreme - the one with the corrupted guardians that kills you in 1-2 hits.

If you're a warrior and on extreme here's some tips: 1. Your companions are useless. Trust me. Right now it may not seem like that but when you get to tear fradee they get their ass beat by everything. 2. Your thumbs will get shit on and twisted(if on controller) because most of the pve battles you'll face will be you spending most of your time parrying and not counterattacking parrying and getting lucky sometimes for counterattack. 2. Your gun is your one and only true friend. 3. If you're doing warrior go full heavy one handed blunt weapons and two handed heavy weapons cause you're gonna wanna get hammer of a forgotten god one of the best one handed blunt weapons ever. 4. Side quests are your friend they like you you like them do all of the side quests you can. 5. Sneak attack is the one and only effective way to deal damage with enemies.

Here's a freebie, the drops off npcs are RNG meaning random and can be nothing to something absolutely incredible, after a kill save the game before looting and put on the 25% loot drop chest peice you get at the beginning, now go through the npcs and loot them save if you get a great drop from one and reset when the drops are not good keep it up till you're overall satisfied with the drops. That hammer is incredible and the stun makes you a God.

No, you're right. Chests respawn after 6 ingame days. Technically you can just sleep a bunch in your residence and then loot the whole city again. ^^

Nope. Green upgrades grant bonus to talent as well and they can be crafted with lvl 1 craftmanship

Once you earn your companions friendship they give you a extra attribute when paired with you as a companion. Points in Attributes goes as follows: One in Charisma (cape + Petrus = 3) One in Vigor (chest slot + Siora = 3) One in Crafting (blacksmith gloves + Kurt = 3) One in Science (chest slot or alchemist chest piece + Aphra = 3) Two in Lock Picking + chest slot = 3 Two in Intuition + Vasco = 3 Alchemist chest piece can be bought at any merchant stand in Hikmet, but doesn’t drop that much. And Blacksmith Gloves can be bought at the Blacksmith in New Serene though they usually drop early. Talents are built to your needs. If you are a technician then the middle column, plus endurance if you want armour. If you’re a warrior, then the top column. If you’re a mage then the bottom column, plus endurance again for the armour. But again, Talents are for YOUR needs. Also Legendary Weapons are mostly shit. They’re good start to mid game, but then late game purple weapons over take them in everything. They are still some good two handed weapons that are Legendary, the Grand Saber of the Far East, and the Great Scythe for its speed. I’ve no idea what the developers were thinking, other than trying to make a point that newer technology over takes the old.

How do i get rid of the magic looking arms when I fight, looks stupid, im a shooter tech build. What shops have the best guns based on my accuracy, im acc 4 but most guns are 3 2. What companions wear capes and does aphra. Will aphra betray me.

It’s not magic, but Fury build-up that your arms are showing. Glowing yellow means your Fury meter is half-full, glowing red means you’re at 100%. Look out for the Ivory-plated Duelling Pistol. It only has a rate of fire of 1, but it hits like a truck, and it has a faster reload speed than a rifle. It’s a good compromise between other pistols, which have higher rate of fire but lower damage and chew through ammo, and rifles, which hit hard and conserve ammo, but are slow to reload. Continuing to put points in Accuracy will still improve the damage you do, even if it’s not required for what weapons you can use. You really want to max your friendship with all your companions. Talk with them often and do their quests as soon as you get them.

Not sure if it's the same for other playstyles, but magic's shield ability is insane, the blocking window is incredibly generous and it costs nothing at all to use it. It's *so* good, in fact, that you're encouraged to run in and melee with magic since if you're only mildly on point with canceling your animations into a block, you can just bumrush shit and burn it down. Biggest issue is handling all the adds your teammates inevitably can't figure out how to peel off you.

I played and platinum Technomancer on ps4 and will never forget it. From the reviews i have seen a lot of people call the combat clunky. I could live with clunky but being shot from all sides and killed while lying down is broken to me. The tactical camera looks cool though, you get to see what your useless ai companions could be doing.
