Just another novelty Big Foot Knife? I don't think so! At $10, this is a handy little knife for the kitchen, camp, or tackle box!

That's a decent little knife. I'm surprised the box is plain Jane & not covered with bigfoot graphics.

That is a well designed knife for the camp kitchen and general camp use. Looks like it can also be used as a 2-handed ulu. Full tang fixed, and as a a long time member of the Bigfoot Research Organization it's a very cool blade Tobias. Thank you.

Nice knife, you make a lot of good points about the usefulness of the knife shape. If they came out with a Big Foot traditional, in perhaps stag or bone, I would jump on that like insanity. I am thinking like a giant camp/scout knife, it needs to be giant in honor of Big Foot.

Awesome video. I hope SMKW listens to your suggestions and makes this in the Reserve line with your up gade suggestions. Who knows, maybe the RRR up grade is already in the works so we won't have to wait two years for it to reach the market??? I'm gonna get me another one (or two) and make some mods. Thanks foe the suggestions.

I bought a little baby RR lock-back for the same reason. Adding it to my order saved £5 delivery, so the net cost was about £4! You get nylon sheaths with an awful lot of knives costing an awful lot more than $10. I think that would be a great camp cook knife.

I would have avoided it just because it is a novelty knife. Glad I saw this video. Always looking for good small fixed blades.

I don't mess with ferro rods. I start fires the old fashioned way! I take two sticks rub them together for about two seconds and then soak them with a half gallon of lighter fluid and throw a match at 'em!

It looks like it would be a pretty good skinner. Plus a good self defense blade in case you get on the wrong side of a height challenged sasquatch.

Micarta was what came up in my mind, why not bring it out with micarta handles? Not that the Bigfoot logo bothers me, but bring it out in micarts as well or cocobolo wood with a nice leather sheath. would i pay 20 dollars the? Absolutely upgrade to D2 and pay 30? Most likely i will. But for a novelty knife it's nice to see they bring it out as a good functional knife. Thank you for the review Tobias.

It would be nice to have the scales held with compression screws so they could be removed.

I have the Bark River Jx6 companion in Elmax steel and Desert Iron Wood scales. It’s also been available in A2, CPM154, 3V steels and many different handle materials...the only real difference other than materials I see is the JX6 is a Sabre convex rather than a Sabre hollow grind.
@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
Never saw the JX6 until folks mentioned it here. No doubt, we know where Kevin and Brian got the idea from. I’d love to see just how close these two knives are! Had I known it was copied from the JX6. I would have mentioned it.
@dlrmon13 жыл бұрын
Understand...was just a bit taken back by your comments on how SMKW designed the it. I got my JX6 out and measured it as you were doing dimensions. Mine is 1/4” longer overall.
@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
@@dlrmon1, that was what I was told. So Now I’m guessing the brain storming was something like. “ make something like Bark River Companion”. But then I’ve seen similar knives, so who knows. Either way, I’ll probably make another video and mention the JX6 link.

You should believe in bigfoot , because he believes in you !
@timbo43743 жыл бұрын
It looks like Chris Tanner's JX6 Companion knife made by Bark River, only his is a scandi grind. Even the handle is all but identical. You won't be getting one of his for 10 bucks though lol. Bark River knives are anything but cheap.

I thought that too,, as soon as I saw the blade shape,, think I'll get one of these,,

@@John..18 I've been wanting the Bark River version, but I've spent way to much on knives lately, so may very well settle for this one, at least for now anyway.

I don’t care for the graphics, but I like the knife. I spose some sandpaper would fix that!

Tobias, are you aware of the latest RR Elephant Toe (RR139SCRIMTP)? It is WSB with a "Trash Panda" scrimshaw design, and is listed as limited quantity. Unfortunately they don't list the closed length, but it looks like a large Elephant Toe. It's also not cheap... I'm on the fence with this one!

@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The sheath is left handed.
@TovarichSputnik3 жыл бұрын
I don't think I've ever heard of a left handed sheath knife. Ambidextrous yes, perhaps even with a left-handed option, but left-handed by default? I'm a lefty so now I *really* want one.
@KnifeChatswithTobias3 жыл бұрын
@@TovarichSputnik , actually they’re not as uncommon as you think. During WWII, on knives that required non-ambidextrous sheaths, about a 1/3 of the US made sheaths were left handed. Why? Because a pistol would be worn on the right side of the belt.
@gizmocarr30933 жыл бұрын
I like the knife but, what makes it unappealing to me is the sheath. Leather is hard to beat; plastics are better for rugged use. Cordura nylon I never liked; It holds moisture like a sponge. It is durable but it is not the choice I prefer. When you buy a fixed blade the sheath is as important as the knife is. You can store a fixed blade in a Kydex sheath and not worry if something bad is going on. If it is in leather you have to worry; but sturdy leather is cool and comfy to wear. Instead of lettering a scrimshaw picture of Bigfoot would be better than bill board letters. That way they could add any theme they like to any knife. They copy Case knives already so what stops SMKW China from copying how Case does that too? ✨🔪✨

Just bought an LTWRIGHT Bandit from Smokey Mountain Knife Works and they threw in a Rough Rider flipper. It opened well, but is a bit dangerous trying to get the locking lever to release in order to get the blade to close. About the Bandit, LTWRIGHT has been leaving the scales matte, and the spine unpolished on many knives. This is the second LTWRIGHT knife I've purchased in a month for gifts. The Small Northern Hunter they took back, and polished because I bought it through LTWRIGHT. But because I bought the Bandit from SMKW, I was told that I needed to pay to ship it back, and pay $20 to get it polished. I will not. I've purchased 4 LTWRIGHT knives in the last year, but I'll be looking elsewhere in the future.
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
Wow! I can understand LTWRIGHT to some degree. But still. Expensive knives made in small batches should have better QC than that. And if they made a mistake they should reimburse you for the postage once the item shows up at your door. I know most places prefer you deal with the retailer where the item was purchased.
