The pattern of the stones on this one looks really nice. I've never owned a bow trapper/saddlehorn knife, but it's a pattern that I wouldn't mind trying some day. Cheers, buddy!

I like this one. The Large Toothpick is my favorite of this series.

Thanks for showing us this one, I'm gonna have to pick up a Stoneworx knife, just have to figure out which one,, (first, ha ha). Incidentally, I'm waiting for the the RR 2237 blue stone wash, to arrive tomorrow,, 👍

That white pearl & black pearl combination looks great. I still haven’t figured out what a half-stop is for, though. I know what it is; I just don’t know why.

A very attractive design and nice bellied blades. The ergonomic design on the handle goes out the door as one of the blades is in the closed position. I wonder how the came to this. If it were only the clippoint blade it would be a joy to work with all day long. Well you have the advantage of two blades ofcourse, but the shape of the handle could have been different, as the ergonomics don't play a part. Besides; it's the trapper that was the knife that won the west hahaha, sorry i couldn't help myself. Nevertheless a very pretty knife that would fit in my collection perfectly. Maybe one of the six disappeared numbers is an XL toothpick? Thank you for the review Tobias.

I like the color patterns on that one. Banana 🍌 Bow.

I'm liking this one. I think they used the best pieces of the Stoneworx set here, the substitution for black MOP over abalone as the "central" piece works well. Even the incorporation of the malachite is done well and doesn't interfere with the other colors. I may end up getting this one. I have a bow trapper in RR's Buckshot Bone series, and I ended up liking it more than I thought I would.

It's a beauty, you've convinced me, I'm going to pick up a copperhead and a muskrat!

Not an ideal knife to use for a long job, but it has that nice curve, and they did a great job on the stonework with the symmetry of colors on both ends and the pearl in the middle, thanks for showing it!

Great knives I love the look of that series!

I agree with you a single blade version would be great

I’m with you on the second blade. A lot of knives bug me with their wad of closed blades. Most congresses and stockmans, for instance. A small pen blade could probably be tucked in as a secondary without being too annoying. I love the hidden lanyard post! Be happy to see one on every RR. They must consistently sell a lot of Stoneworx knives the way they’ve keep the series going for years. Thanks for the closeup on the bow trapper!

Gorgeous knife. I agree with the point on hot spots but if I'm going to use a knife for heavy work I'm going for a locking blade. For most everyday tasks this would be perfect.

Seems like RR knives are constantly improving.

Thanks, Tobias. Love the shape and girth to the frame and covers, but completely agree with the second blade 'hotspot'. A single blade would be fantastic.

Regarding pull weight, and if somebody wanted to put a little more thought in their choosing/cherry picking of knives: Consider also if the weight is similar for all the blades on the same knife. It is certainly not flawless execution if one blade is a tough nut at maybe a 7 and other blades on the knife are weaker, more noodle-y at maybe a 3. Then you can also consider if the pull feels similar for both the opening and closing. It can happen that you get a nice 6 on the open, and yet the darn thing's always eager to swing half closed, at only a 3 or 4.

Happy Thursday Sir Tobias of Gibson. I still have not bought any of the RR StoneWorx series of knives but I have bought a slightly similar scaled small 2.75" blade (3.25" closed ) Frost Cutlery Locking Copperhead Stone (#FSW104TQT). Its multi-colored stone handles are IMO similar but not identical to the StoneWorx series handles & its IMO one of the better made & fitting of the small locking Copperheads I purchased from from Frost / Steel Warrior / Mustang
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 жыл бұрын
Is it one of those copperheads that have a "spring lock" where you push down on one blade to release a blade? Those are cool. I just bought a Silver Horse Stone Works Tiny Toothpick. I'm also pretty impressed with it.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias Happy Friday Tobias, yes it is one of those, I now have 3 - 2 with jigged amber bone handles ( 1 x Steel Warrior & 1 X Mustang ) and this Frost one with multi-colored stone bands on the handles. The Mustang brand one does not have such a good finish & fit as the other two which are well put together .

Good review, so you found a Trapper that you like?
@Cameron_OKG2 жыл бұрын
Good job explaining a "pull" . My only addition is that I've always been under the assumption that a swiss army knife is the measure and that they are the 5 . Very consistently a 5 . Also they make that pattern with one blade . I have one in the faded denim series. Single blade bow trapper .

So agree would have been much better as a single blade knife, stones look great. 😁

Pretty cool. I'm glad they're doing a revisit of the classic Stoneworx line. Do you know if you'll grab the canoe in this line up?
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I've got the whole line up.

If you’re worried about a knife closing at the wrong time, you really should get a locking knife.

Sounds like a few designs died in the process between architecture and construction.
