Just when you think you are getting on top, something like this comes along to bugger up your day.

I have a simular problem with my Growatt SPF5000ES and thought like you the Inverter had gone pop, and a fault code (can't remeber the number) that require factory repair, but on further investigation I discovered the fault was the cut off switch, replaced, and it all is good! So I would check your wiring, but I see you've changed tack and gone for a different make inverter. I also notice on my inverter was set to 230v where as the grit voltage was 240, but this cause problems with the breaker on the AC, so change the inverter setting from 230v to 240v, problem gone away. Just thought I would let you know!!

Good to know. I think my inverter matched the grid for voltage. The fault was bus over voltage or something like that. Growatt identified it as a blown mother board. Only reason we put in another inverter, was because Growatt were taking so long going back and forth with emails and we needed something, hence the PowMr. I've now got the new mother board, just got to fit it.

@@Bensgarage Good luck with the new motherboard, are you going to video the repair?
@Bensgarage7 ай бұрын
@@showme360 Yes, I'll video the repair and then probably do another updating the firmware and installing it. If it works that is, fingers crossed.

Thank you for posting this. I am currently entertaining buying a spf5000es but I am thinking I might spend more on something more reliable after watching your video. I'm keen to see a follow up.

We were very happy with it, up to the point it went wrong. We only went for this as the shop advertises two year shop warranty, ten years manufacturers warranty. When it went wrong, the shop said it's out of our warranty but still under the manufacturers warranty. Growatt turned round and said no, it's only for two years. A lot of emails back and forth with the Growatt engineer, and they have decided to send me a new motherboard to fix myself. Asked how much it was, and they said free as it's our responsibility. So, not sure what is going on. In the meantime I have bought a super cheap PowMr inverter to get us up and running, while waiting for parts for the Growatt. Kind of wished I'd spent a bit more on a better inverter with better back up and a warranty written down. I will be doing a follow up video at some point, after I feel a bit less fed up with the whole episode.

Wrong time of year for things to go wrong Ben, hope you get sorted! I was under the impression that German service was one of the best out there! Fingers crossed 🤞

Not much to say about the support hey, there's a Growatt group on FB and let me tell you it's full of complaints of lackluster support. Sooo Yea, hope they actually do something. Got mine installed by the supplier for South Africa, we got a changeover switch in the case that the inverter does go, but have been told you should keep it dust/moisture free and not overload the inverter.

Good evening my friend .From where you get 10 year's warranty??? From there I get it they say 1 year only.
@Bensgarage10 ай бұрын
It was stated on the website where I bought it from, 2 year shop warranty and 10 year manufacturers warranty, I took a screen shot at the time, but that means nothing. I am still waiting for Growatt to come good on this problem. A new video will be coming soon on the subject.

Did you have surge protection on the grid side ?

How fast do you charge from the grid? 80a?

first of all I am sorry this happened to you and recently encountered a similar problem. I used a broken grinder (I didn't know it was broken) and the system shut down (I got error 07). I didn't understand what was going on so I turned it off and on and continued my work. when I tried again got error 09. It turns out I burned the card inside. growatt can absorb the problems caused by such broken tools the first time, but the second time the heated card burns out. fortunately the authorized service replaced the card and reconnected the system within 1 month under warranty. in general I received comments that growatt inverters are very sensitive products. now I pay attention to the quality and oldness of the tools I use. do you know exactly what action caused the 08 error? and what precautions will you take to make sure it doesn't happen again?

Any news yet buddy? I’m an installing and looking at Growatt
@Bensgarage11 ай бұрын
We were very happy with it until it broke. Turns out now they only give two years warranty (said ten years when we bought it), but they have said they will send parts to fix as it's their responsibility. Not sure what to make of that, but there you go. In the meantime we have just bought a cheaper more powerful inverter with them same two year warranty.

@@Bensgarage Typical modern trait, fail upon end of warranty lol Are you anticipating an engineer to arrive with those parts?
@Bensgarage11 ай бұрын
That would be nice, but no. If they ever do send the new parts, I will be fixing it myself. For the price we paid and the service we got, I kind of wish I bought a cheap cheap inverter. At least then you know it would be a trow away item.

Happened a couple fo times to us, at first it would trip the grid power coming into the house, I just reset everything and it started working again. Then it did it once more and nothing worked. Growatt advised a firmware update, still didn't work. They have now said it's the motherboard, I am still waiting for the part.
