Bought the Milwaukee 7 1/4 four or five years ago. Love it use it all the time. Won't die. Strong and has paid for itself 100 times over. Milwaukee needs to make a track saw.

I've had that same 6-1/2 Milwaukee fuel blade left since they came out. Still going strong 5yrs later. You aren't kidding. Every time I put a fresh battery and blade on it, it makes me smile.

I've been using Makita for at least 40 years and I've only replaced a couple switches and batteries but, I'm liking that Milwaukee 6.5" fuel blade left I see you using on the job site. I'll probably slowly move over to the cordless tools as they've improved so much in the last few years. So thanks for the tool reviews you've been doing. Well done and very up front about everything.

Have a Dewalt Rear Handle and well and that saw changed my life. with the 9.0AH battery your good for solid 8 hour and you will have forearms the size of calf's in no time! Great video

I started using a 6 1/2" saw 25 years ago to build some houses. It was a corded Porter Cable and the first time I brought it to the job site. My friends laugh at me but it wasn't long before they left their 7 1/2" saws in the truck and was using mine all the time.

Grew up using blade right. Got into the m12 line so bought the 5 3/8 saw. What a great lightweight saw. I loved it so much that I bought the m18 6 1/2 fuel. With the proper Diablo blade they cut like butter. Love both, but use my 6 1/2 now for everything. My corded blade right 7 1/4 never gets used. Once you go blade left it's hard to go back to using/buying a blade right. Great review!!

I use the Makita 36V rear handle saw. I'm an old west coast worm drive guy, but I've always known Makita to be top notch. In fact I bought it to replace my corded version I've had for 20+ years. Since I'm on the Makita platform number of battery's isn't an issue with me. Thanks for sharing your arsenal of awesomeness with us!!! P.S. I love to cut stuff lol.

I'd love to make the Milwaukee switch but can't justify the expensive switch. By the way all my Ryobi tools are excellent performers, never ever failed. Love all your videos.

Check out the Makita XSH03Z 6 1/2 Blade Left saw. Its overall dimensions are a little larger & the listed weight is 1lb more including the battery (but they don't state what size Ah battery so weight difference could be less with a smaller battery). XSH03Z Saw is a little more expensive, but it has a magnesium base & a rafter hook (those may not be worth $ to you). Although the dust extractor attachment is sold separately. fyi I don't have experience with either saw, I was actually trying to find a video that compares the two.

Great video. I am a retired carpenter and I still have the old Rockwell 508 and the 315 Blade right. They are heavy as he*l and you need shore or generator power. Getting used to battery saws was hard for me. I was a sawman on a crew for years but I am getting used to batteries real fast. Thanks for sharing your experience with your saws and great channel.

Ive been a Makita guy for some years and I know exactly what your talking about as far as being a smooth cut. Had I not went with Makita years ago, Milwaukee would occupy my tool box. I tried DeWalt almost 20 years ago and found them, back then, to be overpriced Black and Deckers. Ive got buddies who have the Yellows now and use the flex volts and they love em. I hope you know that Milwaukee is a Chinese company...they bought the name several years ago. Try the Hilti left cutting 36 volt. Circular saw. I rip cut 3 layers of 3/4 plywood all day on one charge... super balance and smooth cutting.

I run an old 6 1/2” Milwaukee brushed motor saw and my guys love it. I thought I was being nice and bought two m18 fuel 7 1/4” saws for the crew and those saws are the biggest disappointment in a Milwaukee tool I have ever seen. They don’t cut through anything without stalling out. I’ve even tried brand new blades with brand new batteries, same result. Two weeks ago I bought a makita rear handle 36v because of this and my guys are using it and fighting over it. They even show up early to be the first guy to grab it.😎. I will most likely order another one and a few more batteries.

Rudevette must have had a weak motor that got over looked at the factory. We use the Milwaukee m18 7 1/4 saws all day everyday and they are hands down best circular saw I’ve ever put in my hands. The 6 1/2” m18 saws are decent too but nothing compared to m18 7 1/4. I have 2 m28 6 1/2 saws and those things are the biggest disappointments ever. There garbage! These new m18 tools tho are 👌. Then again everyone has there own opinions too.

RR Buildings Hi! I'm deciding between the 60v DeWalt sidewinder and the Makita 7-1/4 one you showed! I read it can cut 2-5/8! That's 1-1/16 more cutting capacity than the DeWalt one!!! I wish somebody could confirm if it really, really, REALLY can cut 2-5/8!! Please! Though I too dislike a lot the Makita one needs 2 batteries to power one tool!! Dang! Great video!

Flexvolt is the way to go. Everything flexvolt has the power of corded. I have the rear handle saw and it ploughs through everything. As a matter of fact, I just sold my skilsaw mag77 because I haven't used it all year.

As the proud owner of a lot of Makita 5ah batteries, I get what you're saying, but Makita's 36v line has always been about value and not abandoning consumers that already purchased a lot of 18v batteries. A lot of contractors don't care about spending a few hundred dollars on a platform if it does exactly what they want. Case and point... Kyle's controversial miter saw stand haha.

I have both of the Milwaukee saws, they get lots of use. The 6 1/2 is light and efficient while the metal saw is a beast (it’s actually a bit difficult to believe what it’s cutting through at times) I use a M12 5 3/8 as well, that is more than enough for 2 by x work if cutting is not the main activity. Lighter is better as long as it’s sufficient for the job.

It’s not a downfall for the makita it’s a life saver for those who already have makita 18 volt lineup and do not have to buy new 40 volt batteries. So if you have DeWALT 20 volt you still need to buy 40 volt batteries and charger to use the 40 volt tools. Makita was smart doing this.

It's a game changing saw the Makita rear handle. If you're already invested in the makita batteries, it's a no-brainer if you frame. But like Kyle said, I only pull out the rear handle when I need some serious power (ie Ripping down an LVL, or long rips on 2x material), or if Im cutting a stack of plywood. For most other framing tasks, I prefer the 6-1/2" for its lighter weight.

Switched from my Skil Mag saw and never looked back. Feels the same to me, get a little deeper cut, no cords, batteries last all day. I have about 15 makita batteries so when i saw the saw on clearance at Home Depot for $100, I took the plunge. I keep a the 6 1/2" cordless makita out for a second cutter so I'm not dragging one saw back and forth if I'm cutting in two areas all day.

I hav been diehard DeWalt for years. Bought a Makita 7 1/4 blade left rear handle. by far the most impressive saw I have ever used. At home Depot right now if you buy the kit you get 2 free batteries.

Like you I prefer blade left. I love my Makita BSS611 6½". For a right-handed operator it's nice not to have to look over the saw to see the cut. I've cut a lot of plywood with it.

Good video I think the Makita XSH03Z is something in between the Milwaukee 2730 and the Black Makita XSH04ZB that you showed in this video. I have both the Milwaukee 2730 and the Makita XSH03Z, but I always goes for the Makita because is smaller and lighter.

Coming from a right handed guy I love left handed saws for sight alos. Your dewalt looks like a worm drive type. But for the dewalt 60v, I love the power and both feel but the battery sould last longer in such a heavy weighted tool. I've found nothing to stop it other than battery(6amph)

just my guess on the difference in motor smoothness of the Makita motors vs the Dewalts. It would come down to the level of refinement on the output of the inverting and PWM circuit they use for the brushless motors. Since it has to invert the DC battery voltage into a small form 3-phase induction motor. So the closer to a true sign wave form on the output the smoother the motor operation will feel.

I’m really considering the rear handle Makita now. I’m seeing them for under $300 with 2 batters and rapid charger (fully charges both batteries in 45 min or so). You said you don’t use it because you don’t have a bunch of Makita batteries, but you show 2 Makitas right after lol. AND you use the Makita fastener driver AND the hydraulic impact!

Hello, I feel for you. Being ambidextrous blade left and right aren't a big issue. I do like my little brushless Makita 6 1/2 saw. But I have a few makita 18v batteries and find that most batteries work as well and are much much cheaper in the after market versions. So as you have said before the batteries you have really dictate which way you go in the future. Good video. Take care. Doug

Thing about blade-left saws is you really should get used to having your off-fall to the left. That way the business end of the shoe is on your keeper piece. I don't have any cordless saws but I have a Skil Mag77 which is, of course, blade-left. I also have a pair of Milwaukee 8 1/4" blade-right saws that are beasts. I always reach for the Milwaukee saws first. So much power.

I really enjoy Hitachi C18DBL at the moment, had so much fun with it. Doesn't weight much more then a box of nails so you can have it attached to your belt while running on rafters. The 1.6x125mm blades are practically for free and to weak to make you loose control of it. Can easily work one handed with it from any angel or position :) Much more fun then the old and clumbsy Festool HKC ;p

I couldn't agree more. I just review all of the full size cordless saws. Does the 6 1/2" blade left Milwaukee have detents on the angle adjustment? That was weird for me. I agree with you though on the DeWalt vs. the Makita sidewinder, the DeWalt system with one battery and just a little more power feels just better even though the Makita is a little smoother and has a little better battery life. Have you tried the new 7 1/4" Milwaukee fuel? The new one in the 12ah kit with the new motor? It's a beast on an 18v saw.

My uncle has the same Milwaukee saw as the first one. I picked it up the other day on a job it felt weird as I’m used to blade right saws. It’s a good saw though. Except his guard is knackered.

I am just a hobby DIY'er but love my Makita cordless saw. Trouble is the base plate has a bit of wobble in it (from new) so have to remember to put a bit of right hand pressure when cutting to get a straight 90° cut.

Makita does a compact blade left saw. It's quite nice, but I'm a Dewalt guy so I am rocking the old XR brushed blade left and the Flexvolt blade right saw. Those two together make a good combo for my purposes. My only complaint with Dewalt saws is the base is never aligned with the blade so cutting against a straight edge is always a problem. I'm eventually going to get a track saw so that problem will become irrelevant.

I've been drooling over that DeWalt Flexvolt saw since it came out to replace my Skill 77, but since I don't work in the field anymore I haven't really needed it for anything I can't use the Skill for so I haven't pulled the trigger. It came out right as I finished my barn, lol. I'd have bought it if it had come out a year earlier, haha.

The Makita Subcompact circular saw is not a toy. It looks like a toy. It feels like a toy. If it binds though itll kick out just like a corded saw, and has almost as much power. I do agree with you on blade left!

Much like you said, I am a DeWalt guy due to not wanting tons of different chargers in my shop. I mainly cut wood so I am unfamiliar with a metal cutting circular saw. What is the difference in the two? They look similar so why can you not put a metal cutting blade on a normal saw? Is there a power difference or something? Great vids keep them coming!
