RRR should be nominated for best picture, not just best non-english picture.

It cannot compete in non English picture because it was not India's official entry. But I did see that it won best international pictures several times at various festivals. Let us hope it gets several Oscars. It is a ground breaking film for sure.

@@JuanRodriguez-tf7fh Oh really? Maybe read this... : Culture in India: Illiteracy The percentage of illiteracy in India is alarming. There is a wide disparity between rural and urban areas and male and female population. The condition in villages is worse than in cities. Though a number of primary schools have been set up in rural India, the problem persists. Many people who are counted as literate can barely read and write. Racism A strong caste system is still prevalent in India. There are places that the so called ‘lower classes’ cannot visit, and will not be welcomed in. in some communities, a person’s last name is an indicator of his/her caste and they are looked upon accordingly. Some castes like Brahmins believe themselves to be far superior to others and will not even touch or eat the food of a lower caste. Women’s Safety As far as freedom and safety of women are concerned, India lags behind. Issues like domestic violence, rape, the portrayal of women in media, etc. In 2021, there were 4,28,278 reported incidents of violence against women. 65% of Indian men believe women should tolerate violence in order to keep the family together, and women sometimes deserve to be beaten. According to the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES) more 20% of Indian men had committed sexual violence at some point during their lives. Exact statistics on the extent case occurrences are very difficult to obtain, as a large number of cases go unreported, due in large part to the threat of ridicule or shame, as well as an immense pressure not to damage the family's honour. For similar reasons, law enforcement officers are often motivated to accept offers of bribery from the family of the accused, or in fear of more grave consequences, such as Honour Killings. Women are teased and at times groped in thick crowds, on busy streets and in public vehicles. Lewd behavior seems to be common place. Not acceptable, but common, with most women not open to talking about the harsh reality they face every day. In joint families if a female or male child is assaulted by an adult, the family may hush the event in fear of tarnishing the family name and marriage prospects for the child in future. Honour killings - which refer to the murders of people perceived as bringing "shame" to their communities - are regularly reported in India. Many of the victims are young people who defy their families to marry from other religions or castes, or sometimes within the same sub-caste. Arranged Marriages Anither primitive practice still prevalent even in urban India. What’s more is marriages have now gone online - with ‘Shaadi’ portals, where one can pick a prospective bride or groom. Shows how advanced technologically and yet primitive culturally India is. Basic Sanitation There are about 700 million people who have no access to toilets at home. Slum areas do not have toilets. People are thus forced to defecate in the open, which causes numerous diseases like diarrhea, cholera, dehydration etc. Many rural schools also have no toilets, because of which parents do not send their kids, especially girls, to school.

Both Ram and Bheem are modern historical figures as depicted in movies but they are also inspired from ancient historical characteristics of Shri Rama (from Ramayana Era) and Mighty Bheem (from Mahabharat Era) that's the reason why Bheema can lift motorcycle because according to Mahabharat, Bheema can crush mountains and 🐘 with his single punch. And Rama dressed liked that statue (idol from where he gets his 🏹) of ancient Indian Rama. You should read the lyrics of song playing in background music in last forest battle. That score describes the characteristics of both ancient historical figures.❤️

Superb review, eloquent and cogent, succinct but telling. We can be here all day and dwelve into this gem of a movie. I feel like this film is uniting people across the world. I do not know of any movie that I can say that about. If you are able to have a film group that requests the movie to be shown in an iMax theater and sell tickets prior you might be able to have a screening.They had screenings with Mr Rajamouli across the US. Does Arizona have a movie or critic association? It can be done. Thank you so much for your review, great job.

Our research finds that Britain’s exploitative policies were associated with approximately 100 million excess deaths during the 1881-1920 period, write Sullivan and Hickel[British Raj(1904-1906)/Wikimedia Experts agree that the period from 1880 to 1920 - the height of Britain’s imperial power - was particularly devastating for India. Comprehensive population censuses carried out by the colonial regime beginning in the 1880s reveal that the death rate increased considerably during this period, from 37.2 deaths per 1,000 people in the 1880s to 44.2 in the 1910s. Life expectancy declined from 26.7 years to 21.9 years

RRR is absolutely great! As far as recommendations go... It depends on what type do you want, more of the mass entertainer or different style. Cause India has great movies in both styles. But as an opener, I'll suggest to you what everyone suggested Sean Chandler. And that is 3 Idiots (and it's on Netflix). Side note: it is not an action film, so don't expect this going into that.
One of my favourite Bollywood film is Dhoom 2 and I do suggest it. When it comes to Asian films I am more into horror films because to me the horror films made in Asia are amazing and the best.
@binthamadicamara20772 жыл бұрын
You are right, Dhoom 2 is a great action thriller , Dhoom 3 as well. I like recommending Ram Leela with Deepika Padukone, because it is a remake of Romeo and Juliet, with such splendid cinematography. Also the lunch box, Raazi, Haider. It depends what genre you are into. Indian cinema is such a huge industry but worth diving into. The only thing I must say is that runtime is average 2 h and up. It usually goes by very fast.

@@binthamadicamara2077 I got into international films when I was a teenager and another one of my favourite films in Bollywood is gangster the love story, I could name off so many good films from my own personal collection and yes the films are long but so worth the watch... Japan is the birth place of horror for me though because the atmosphere in their movies cannot be beat and are the only ones that leave a chill down my spin.... The original dark water, the phone, take of two sisters, whispering stairs, into the mirror and so so so many more are great films.... Also one of my favourite films from Japan is one that was made back in the nineties and it's called AZUMI it's dated in places but it is a good film I think

Thanks for your reaction to RRR Zach 🙏 .. Though you seemed to like the movie overall, you did sound a ''smidgen'' dismissive / condescending about the over the top action scenes and were critical to the realistic probabilities of some scenes [ironically Hollywood churns out more outlandish & Woke trash year after year that ends up getting rave reviews and an occasional Oscar 😜]. Not being rude friend, just opining .✌ You need to understand that Indian cinema is very diverse and mind numbingly varid in it's subject matters and cultural approach from different linguistic regions. If you are looking for realism and for you to be able to really appreciate the depth and scope of Indian cinema, you must watch and react ''live'' to the once in a lifetime and historically accurate movie ''SARDAR UDHAM'' .. It will just rip your soul . Hope you do take this suggestion seriously and I guarantee you, neither you nor your audience will be disappointed. It's on Amazon Prime.. [Here's the trailer of the movie, for your consideration.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH26mH6qZpKGj9E [don't forget to enable subtitles] ✌.. It will also put to rest your westernized, watered-down history, of colonial brutality in India. With respects & regards from an Indian dude domiciled in Hong Kong... 🙏💖
