I just saw RRR yesterday. It was absolutely sensational! It's hard to narrow down one thing that makes it work so well since everything about it is of such high quality. However, I would point to the way that the film is so tightly constructed in terms of its themes and conflicts. It's a masterclass in set-up/payoff. The training montage with Bheem and the tiger perfectly sets up the raid on the mansion later in the film. The scenes involving Bheem struggling to speak to Jenny, perfectly sets up the moment where he asks to learn to read and write at the end, the speech about "wasting bullets" sets up the ending battle. A lot of movies can do exciting fight sequences, but few put the type of care and attention to detail needed to make you care about the characters. It makes it all come together perfectly. I also agree with your thoughts about wanting to watch more Indian cinema. I feel I've really been missing out!

@Lenbright9 - Nice... just to add to it, there are so many more points set up for us... the friendship montage song alone sets up so many things for 2nd half. Like one hero working out his upper body with pullups.... only to later repeat it in jail... and then fight. The other hero lifts his friend and then in the preclimax fight he is shown doing this all through fight. The same montage shows them eyeing their targets.... one at the mansion and the other at the weapons barracks. It also shows the feeding of the animals for the upcoming mayhem. For Ram, the lack of bullets and his bulls eye skills sets up for his archery skills... which he was indeed a master of in real life too. There are so many more like these. Even natu natu song beat sets us up for how the heroes find each other in preclimax.

@rudra76152 жыл бұрын
Wait because of racism too? C'mon man..what are you talking about? Netflix and other streamers have been investing in Indian cinema and they have been many hit films. There are Indian streaming services happening as well, on top of that a big % of the growth of Indian cinema is from NRIs outside. Even in Russia Indian cinema is accepted and seen. If you are wondering why the west like America doesn't embrace it, it isn't to due to racism..it is due to 1) lack of awareness and a need 2) assuming it is just musicals like the west understands musicals (the stereotype angle). Why do people just go with the racism angle. If racism was the reason it wouldn't even be released in theatres or streaming services. Indian films have been in cinemas for years like 20+ and streaming has made it more accessible. There are other things too.. the length of these films and how "masala" they are. Indian films are very different than western ones..lastly the language. Not just Indian but any foreign film ain't going to get as big as a Hollywood film.

Bahubaali is the obvious answer but the real answer is go watch Magadheera first! It’s the same director and actor. This is what put both of them on the map. I’m also not Indian and it is what got me hooked ever since. The Indian cinema industry is so vast and many different language that there are so many to choose from and in vast genres. These particular types of films are called masala films. I personally have mainly seen films from Hindi telugu and Tamil languages so I can only speak from those experiences. Tamil movies are more ground based they rarely have movies that are bigger than life with crazy stunts. Thier cinema is more known for great writing. Think like Oscar type movies if you know what I mean. All thier crazy movies come from two actors Vijay( whose movie “beast “is soon coming) and rajnikanth(very old). The complaints of this cinema is that sometimes it’s boring. Telegu is known for larger than life movies. They are known for deep storyline with crazy action scenes. All these anime type movies originated from this cinema. So many of them have gotten popular than there are thousands of remakes of thier movies in other Indian languages. Bahubali, RRR, Magadheera, pokiri,pushpa etc.They are the kings of masala genre. Complaints of thier cinema is that there aren’t as many ground based movie. Hindi films are like middle ground between those two cinemas. They are hollywoodlite. Just like Hollywood thier complaint is the writing is most of the time superfluous. Each of them have great movies but it mainly depends on your taste.

Wow. Thank you for the detailed comment. I'm learning so much about Indian cinema today. I appreciate the breakdown. Honestly, all of those sound like styles of films I'd like to see. RRR was hands down the most amazing cinematic experience I've ever stared gape-mouthed at for three hours. The thing I notice in Indian cinema is that there is no ceiling on what's believable, on physics or limits of someone's power. And it's majestic the way they commit all the way down. Obviously our leads are these amazing demigods of strength and dancing and fighting tigers with their bare hands, but they also get the shit kicked out of them constantly. They're never so powerful they win.

If you really want to watch a beautiful cinema then please watch the LEGEND himself SATYAJIT RAY WORKS . He got Oscar for his contribution to films as LIFETIME achievement. His first film he made which Patha pachali. Aapu triology. There is more than bollywood and tollywood. India has a unified yet diverse languages. Maximum 122 and upto 8 to 9 dialects even we native speakers do not know. As I am bengali some films I would suggest if you get time court ( marathi) aamsh ( assamese). Caution this is an ocean and u would love it Thank you 🙏. Namaste

Bro there is definitely more than tollywood or bollywood but the reason why tollywood is so popular is because telugu people love tollywood. Now see you are a Bengali. Rabindranath Tagore is so popular because you Bengali people gave him the respect he deserved! Telugu poets are not very popular because we never gave them the respect they deserved! So similarly, if people of a state give respect to their films, they'll get recognition! What I see is that many states dont have a craze for films like we have in AP, Telangana. If a Bengali film can collect 300 crores in Bengal, it'll grab more attention! So you'll get respect only if you give respect to your own industry!

So many good Indian movies on Prime and Netflix...Here are just a few of them: 1. Vada Chennai(Tamil movie) -Prime 2. The Great Indian Kitchen (Malayalam movie)- Prime 3. Asuran (Tamil movie)- Prime 4. Kumbalangi Nights (Malayalam movie) -Prime 5. Dhrishyam 1 and 2 (Malayalam movies) - 2 is on Prime, the first is probably on KZbin 6. Ayyapanum Koshiyum (Malayalam movie)- Prime 7. Mathu Vadalara (Telugu movie)- Prime(?) 8. Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya (Telugu movie) -Prime 9. Kavaludaari (Kannada movie)- Prime 10. Maanagaram (Tamil movie) -Prime 15. Soodu Kavvum (Tamil movie) -KZbin 16. Vikram Veda (Tamil movie) -Prime 17. Andhadhun (Hind movie) -Netflix(?) Just the tip of the iceberg. I also felt that even though the main influence was Inglorious Basterds there was a hint of Django there. Only person I’ve seen mention it so far. Became obsessed with this film, I’m watching as many reviews and analysis as I can. It’s just so amazing. Also watched Bahubali, and it’s also action packed and grappling. And note: I found on Netflix (I’m in UK) a film called The Legend of Bhagat Singh. It will be on only a few more days. It’s a historical drama about an independence movement starring Ajay Devgn, who plays Venkata Rama Raju in RRR. The movie was gorgeous to watch and Devgn is an amazing actor

Dude , I just want to say thankyou for acknowledging that there is a different film industry in India, you must be the first foreigner to do that , also its not just telugu and hindi there are many other industry like tamil, malayalam, kannada and many more . And the movies I personally recommend to watch are KGF 1 and 2 ( 2 just came out ) drishyam 1 and 2 , eega and Super Deluxe they are from kannada , malayalam, telugu and tamil industries respectfully.

To me, SS Rajamouli's best is Eega. The story of a man who gets killed by a psychopathic billionaire...and gets reincarnated as a freaking housefly to save his crush and kill the bad guy. It is emotional and insanely done.

@@cineflect Hindi Cinema(aka Bollywood which name is inspired by Hollywood) is also making great movies per year but they are making LGBTQ+ ,Feminist,Woke propaganda & Anti-India, Anti-national,Anti-Hinduism Films & TV Series & they are remaking or copying many films from other languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kanaada, Malayalam, English, Spanish, etc that's why people's abusing alot and criticising Hindi Cinema and their actors alot. But according to me, every industry in the world remaking, copying or inspired or adapting something and then turned into a Movie or TV Series, only percentage is somewhere very high, middle, low, etc.Only Some ideas of some filmmakers is original in every industry. I think Indian audience loved Bahubali series more, especially the hype they created for Bahubali 2. While foreign reactors loved RRR. But Bahubali score >>>>>> RRR score M M Keeravani the composer went all out for Bahubali. Tollywood (state: Andra Pradesh & Telangana, Language : Telugu) It is the best for this type of entertainment Bollywood ( North Indian States, Language : Hindi) I dont know what they are doing right now, they were supposed to be the best of India but general audience couldn't connect them anymore, but they are know for musical masterpieces and epic movies like Bajirao Mastani, Padmavat etc. Mollywood ( State : Kerala, Language : Malayalam) Generally best script in the business and no over the top entertainment. Well grounded realistic industry perhaps in the world i would say. But currently lack the entertainment which they mastered in the past. Kollywood ( State : Tamil Nadu, Langauge : Tamil) A combination Mollywood and Tollywood but not mastered either of their qualities to the level. Sandalwood (State : Karnataka, language : Kannada) The wild card Industry in India, you can't predict them, they surprise us. Currently India is riding the KGF 2 wave from this Industry, soon to hit the big screen on April 14. These are the top 5 industries in India, there are more.

Kollywood isn't balanced? Dude what shit are u high on? 😂 kollywood provides the best mainstream content oriented films and gives a fair share of art movies as well. May be kollywood isn't giving big budget entertainers now but if u look at the recent past, kollywood is the first south indian industry to enter 100 cr 200 cr clubs and also has 7 oscar submissions. Indians may go crazy for kgf hero elevations It would have already surpassed the collection of RRR. But as a whole package RRR is miles ahead in entertaining the global audience. Kids family.teens middle age everyone will love it. Kgf is solely a block buster as north part of india took it very seriously. As the movie has elevation of hero. which was never seen in indian cinema Both kgf and rrr had own pros and cons. Bit if i choose a indian film to proudly.to.show it to my foreign friend . ill any day choose RRR RRR couldnt collect much solely it didnt get grand opening in bollywood like Bahubali 2 did despite heavy promotions. Only on the 3 rd day people started coming to theatres i.e Saturday .which was just opposite to KGF part 2. Part 2 had high expectations from KGF fans..just like bahubali had.. RRR being a single movie has crossed 1000 crores putting aside Dangal..which is the only single movie to cross 1000 crores but it came solely due to.china release. So RRR will be best single non franchise film released in india till date ..although i highly doubt china will not allow RRR to release due to its patriotism and revolt against govt. Which will put RRR as no.2 after dangal in non franchise film section
