RSeat S1 Review - Is this the best RSeat ever?

RSeat has been one of the leading manufacturers in the sim racing industry for many years. Their specialty has been making sim racing chassis and they have a great reputation for them.
Their previous models have come in a variety of style and price points with all of them being made of high quality construction, wonderful styling and a built for our sim racing needs.
The all new S1 chassis is their latest entry into the market and it takes some of the features of previous models and combines them into what just might be the ultimate simrig.
In this video Shaun Cole of The Simpit takes you from out of the box, through assembly. He equips it with his best sim gear and then gets it dialed in for his driving position. From there h goes on to talk about how it performed on track and then breaks down the best and worst aspects of the rig.

Excellent and thorough review, thank you. I WAS in the latter stages of planning my own flight sim/racing rig with the ability to play first person shooters as well. I had all the aluminium extrusions costed as well as the custom parts from Monstertech for the Thrustmaster Warthog joystick and throttle setup. But now, that’s all out the window! Thanks to my stumbling on your video I emailed Rseat with a couple of questions regarding a flight sim setup. I got an immediate reply and now I am about to order one with all the necessary accessories. I’ll tell the wife later! 😷😷😷

I am waiting for my S1 to get shipped right now. I purchased it largely due to this review and prices. Almost 4 years later and the prices are still the same here in the USA, even after the pandemic and huge cost increases. Decided it was best to get it now before they do increase the price.

Excellent review as always Shaun. You NEVER disappoint. I really hope you get to keep the rig. I know that you'd have years of enjoyment from it. I love my N1. I bought my N1 the same week that you released your review for it and I bought it solely because of your review. I think my favorite part of the new S1 is how they've upgraded the shifter assembly. Great review Shaun. I have been waiting for this review for a while now. The RS1 was on my radar for sometime, now this came on the scene. I'm saving up for the S1. I like the fact that it has a sturdy pedal deck, to accommodate my Fanatec LC pedals. Keep the great reviews coming.

After watching Shaun's review of the S1 I placed an order with RSeat. It has now been 5 days and still no notification that my S1 has shipped. Web sites says that it is in Stock. You would think all you would have to do is put a label on the box and call the shipper. Ordered all my Fanatec gear at the same time and it has all be delivered.

Great video Shaun! I just received the S1 in black and red and it's absolutely gorgeous. You are spot on re: sliders are difficult to move. How did you get the front sliders to move? It shouldn't be this difficult, but they are stuck. 🙁

I'm currently in the market for compact rig like these but my problem with RSeat is that they're so expensive. Although I'm in the UK, the prices are in Euro's for me and the price for the Simetik K2 frame with the shifter mount is €383.80. Infact, add a Sabelt Racer Duo seat on there with sliders and the total comes to €662.80! That's a full rig that's cheaper than the RSeat S1 frame alone! And as far as I'm aware, there isn't really a major advantage the RSeat has over the Simetik to warrant that much of a price gap. If you find one, let me know.

Hey Shaun - have you spent any seat time in the Formula V2? I'm deciding between the S1, N1, & Formula V2 & it's a tough call.

Josh, I've owned the S1 for a few couple months now and while I agree with most of Shaun's review; I feel he overlooked a pretty critical flaw. If you look at the tubing that attaches to the wheel deck on the N1, you will notice they gusseted it to prevent any flexing inherent in the hollow tubing. They overlooked adding this additional reinforcement on the S1 and this oversight adds additional flex at the wheel deck. I can move my wheel well over a 1/4", which translates into lost feedback and a vague feeling. I am currently running a Fanatec 2.5, but have the DD1 on preorder, and am really concerned how this is going to hold up to the extra torque the DD's are capable of. I'm also worried the improved resolution will be lost due to the extra flexing. For this reason alone I would highly recommend avoiding the S1 until Rseat provides a solution. I have reached out to them concerning this matter and am told "they are looking into it".

I am in the market of getting a rig.. I’m liking this rig a lot from your review. BUT looking at the stand, I noticed you can’t put the triples stand up close, can you move the monitors towards you? I would like my center monitor over my wheel base... I don’t think that’s possible with this stand. SO.. this rig with a GT omega triple stand might work for me.

my product was so bent at the box mount i had to make a shim just crap construction,, i have an N1 also and had no issues but my S1 was shit and it was a real hassle to fix

What a bummer. I just watched your review and was super stocked at the amazing shifter/handbrake arm. But after looking at the website it seems that they nolonger have this huge arm to hold it. Its this little arm screw on the side. It does seem to have the same large plate for mounting the shfiter and handbrake on. Why did they get rid of this thing? It looked amazing. :(

Hello Sir, can you please tell me if there is any reason why anyone would consider the more expensive N1 over the S1? It is "just" bigger (as in larger footprint, so basically a con)? What would be RSeat's rational to selling the N1 for more if as you say at the end of your review, the S1 is the best RSeat in your opinion? The reason for my question is that I cannot find a clear answer to what the differences are, apart from the price and footprint. For a user perspective. RSeat has a comparison tool on their site, but it is really useless as all you see there as different again is just the size. Thank you.

I just got one and there are a few ways you can mount the V3 to this rig. I used a very simple way. I cut the bottom portion of the L shape on the V3 brackets, then I open 3 holes to match the ones on the rig and voila!!! I'm also working on custom brackets to use the rails but it works perfectly the way I have it now.

I've sent RSeat a email whether they'll make a production optional bundle package with the RSEAT S1, N1, RS1 with non GT Style pedal mounts, i want them like a real car pedals were mounted like... where the pedals are mounted from top hanging and not bottom.

Is it worth the extra $300 to go for the Alcantara seat? Already purchased a seat a long while ago to use in a self built unit, not an XL or anything, but it is way too wide to fit on the S1 according to their specs. How narrow are these seats that come with it? Dimensions seem like they are made for kids.

Smooth acceleration it has slight movement (if you had a cam on it) but not noticeable at all under heavy breaking

@@tomdreiling1186 You've probably already found out by now but if not: I was unsure my fat ass would fit the seat so I bought a BMW sports seat from a junkyard. Then I purchased a 6mm metal plate and drilled holes so the metal plate works as a homemade adapter. It has great adaptability and awesome comfort - I can drive for hours without hurting my ass or my back unlike my old rig.

pollocks jones from looking at it it seems you can mount any bucket seat on it.. which means you can get a reclinable sparco seat that can be mounted on the bracket

i had to repair my s1 with a leveling plate because the frame was shit from the factory bent wrong in all the right places my N1 is nice but i will never by another RSeat product ever ,,,, i spent my hard earned cash only to be shipped a piece of shit from Bulgaria not and easy return after you spend an house cutting it from plastic wrape, Yes they do package of their products rather well for shipping the problem is is when you open it up and you find out everything is bent to shit in the wrong way and you just blew $700 on a piece of crap it’s rather hard to get back to those people all the letters I sent them were unresponsive they had nothing to say so I’ve already produced a couple of videos on my gamersgettingplayed KZbin page showing the deck was bent down bad enough it took a 1/4 inch leveling shim to make it level. Yeah I know you got one and it was perfect guess what I got an N one and it was perfect also but this one was a piece of bent up shit and I will not spend my money there ever again nor will I ever recommend anyone else to spend a single dime there

To me this entire rig looks overly complex just for the sake of the aesthetics. Which is a matter of taste if you like it, and I would personally prefer the simpler but just as adjustable but more modular Sim-Lab P1 design. I had my RS Evo V3 die on me half a month ago, and thus I mailed RSeat but no luck getting parts 6.5 years later. The metal bar to which the pedal plate attached had started to tear on both sides and failed before my CSPv2 loadcell did. So RSeat directed me to this but... I just didn't like it personally. Besides, I always drooled over 80/20 because even as an adult I still love Lego. So I value modularity over aesthetics, besides maybe I will build my own DIY motion actuators in the future and it is easier to do that stuff on 80/20.

looks like it has the same issue that most comercial rigs have, the wheel deck is way to low! A race car position has tho top of the wheel about 2inch below eye level. This looks like driving an SUV. awful.

Don't buy from RSeat - they have the worst customer service and will say many things to indicate they will work with you and resolve issues and then just ignore you until you "go away" or your warranty runs out. I have been trying to get them to to replace my defective chassis (which they have offered multiple times but then do nothing) for over 14 months. Spend your money elsewhere.
