I will never understand the concept of “if it works, break it.” I heard one of these stories where the call center team had a customer satisfaction rate of 100%. The only thing you can do to that rate is maintain or lower it. The new manager decided that things needed to change, and if you can believe it, the satisfaction rate plummeted

The last story reminds me of my parents approach of me wanting to get an ear piercing at 15. Obviously I needed their permission and they shot me down with "You didn't think about it enough, but if you still want this in a year, you get our permission" So a year goes by and I still like the idea, so I ask my parents again, who had totally expected me to have discarded the idea and they went back on their promise, but instead they did the typical parents thing of "Well, when you're 18, you can do whatever you want!". Well, my 18th birthday was on a Sunday and everything was closed, but right that Monday I walked into a tattoo studio, smacked my cash on the counter and got the piercing. Monday went by, so did Tuesday and Wednesday and my parents had not noticed the piercing! Not until Thursday, when a friend of my mom visited and immeadiately after sitting down, asked where I had gotten that cute piercing. My parents were stunned and I smugly replied "You said I can do whatever I want when I am 18..." It's been nearly 11 years and I still like my piercing and still tease my parents with that story :)

Summer Legs: I've often expressed that I think men get the raw end in the summer when it comes to office dress codes. Women can get away with skirts and sandals, but men are often stuck in long trousers, socks, and shoes. Added to that, there is nothing in the dress code about shaving, so that reason would not fly for us.

7:09 The UK recently had temperatures up to 102°F (39°C) Yes 85 degrees F is warm but it's not that warm. Unless it's a country farther up north

Picture this... A strict 9-5 company, a daily process that takes a good 10-11hrs to do, a night-owl and early-bird "conspire" to stagger their shifts so that the early-bird starts working 7-3, and starts the process, and the night-owl starts working 11-7 and wraps up the process. So now you have 12hrs coverage, 7-7, to make sure the ~10hr process finishes daily vs being split across days. Now imagine idiot managers threaten both of them to go back to 9-5 *or else* so they do just that. So now early-bird starts the process of the given day, while night-owl wraps up the process from the *previous* day. And management has no clue why what used to be done in 1 day now takes 2. Idiots.

The pants story: instead of getting the manager to admit that it’s because of visible legs, it would be nice to check if the new dresscode requires long pants or just forbids shorts. If the latter, I‘d sported either a kilt (as it‘s mens‘ clothes) or went full on with a dress. The dress could even work with the leg argument: wear a ankle long, wide dress. No legs seen, but probably not the manager‘s intent. The whole story reminds me of that school that changed girls‘ uniforms to something ridiculous, especially as boys‘ uniforms remained less restricted (iirc they forbid girls to wear pants, forcing them to wear skirts, while the boys‘ uniform didn‘t mention any rules). In the end, all the boys went ahead and wore the exact same skirts as the girls were forced to wear - their dresscode just didn‘t cater for that possibility. And as the skirts complied with school uniform standards, there was nothing to be done about it.

You have a fairer mom than mine. If I had tried something like that, I'd have been grounded and/or told to do it "right".

What the hell is going on with your tags for the stories in the scrollbar? They're wrong, mislabelled, missing stories, etc etc. The only part that's correct is the intro.
