I'm not an Etsy shop owner, BUT I do use Etsy a lot. Enough that I actually have a working relationship with an artist on the site. She's done orders for me that aren't available on her regular site and we always have a pleasant experience working together on my orders. Wanna know why? I pay for any materials she doesn't already have/offer and she sends me the excess when she ships the final product. I pay her prices without complaining because everything she does is FROM SCRATCH and everything is custom made. She's extremely talented and I always love what she makes. Etsy can be a great place, but it's pretty much the Wild West. You just gotta be careful as both a buyer and seller!
@guitarbass223 жыл бұрын
Quick question. Sorry for being random. But when you check out for buying one of her products, if you use an Etsy gift card, would they pay her the money equal to the funds that the gift card had available on it? Only asking because I bought my friend an Etsy GC for Christmas and want to make sure she can actually use it to buy from a seller and not just the website. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but my experience with the site was gained vicariously through her...first time I was ever even on the site was buying the GC 😂😂😂

@@guitarbass22 I don't use etsy but a seller would probably get the same amount whichever payment method you use. @@guitarbass22 I’ve yet to make a sale (my shop has been open a matter of days but I did a ton of homework) and my understanding is that yes, if you give someone a gift card the recipient should be able to use it in any shop. Basically you give the money to Etsy when you purchase the gift card, and they more or less “hold it” and give that money to the shop once she uses it. I believe shops can opt out of accepting gift cards, but it seems pretty rare. Hope that makes sense. And I set out to answer your question but it occurs to me this is a perfect opportunity for a shameless plug! 😂 Bonnetandedgebykate.etsy.com It’s my original artwork, just in case anyone is interested! 😉

I have an Etsy shop myself, and honestly I think it's a great platform! These people though are your typical Karens who look at Etsy and think it's another Amazon. Each shop is run by either a small team or single individuals packaging and shipping from their own living space. Dimensions for stickers, or any art/item, are almost always given in the description, this person just wanted to take advantage of a small, most likely one-person business and get art for free.

It was the one or two really bad ones (similar to what was in the video) that made me stop wanting to doing Etsy. The first was a woman who complained that my shipping to Israel was too high because she calculated the shipping from her side and wanted me to lower it to exactly that much (not taking into account the packaging, the printing, and my general time). The other was a woman in Russia who wanted to pay with a money order (I had forgotten to turn it off in my payment options). I explained I'd be happy to honor it, but I'd have to wait for the money order to be received and clear the bank before I shipped it. Her response was "I guess I'll have to wait until I have money then".

i've had an etsy for almost 4 years (selling hand made plush toys), and i've had maybe three reviews that weren't 5 stars over decent enough reasons (can't be perfect 100% of the time) but the closest i've had to a choosing beggar was one lady asking not for a refund, but compensation as some thread on her order had snapped on the shoulder. she didnt ask for compensation right out but just informed me that the arm was dangling off, i apologized about the thread snapping and gave her instructions about how to fix it (as previous buyers who had something happen also asked for how to fix things, so i thought that's what she would also want), then it was just a lot of back and forth about how she wasn't comfortable with using a sewing needle and how i should fix it, eventually she just stopped messaging me after she finally accepted that at best i would fix it if she shipped it back and we both paid for the shipping and nothing more, i dont even know what she meant by compensation, like did she want me to give her 10 bucks because of the broken thread? and then there was one kid who was mad that one of my listings was bought (as i only have one up at a time) and messaged me with "WHY IS IT SOID!?!?" i messaged back saying i'll renew the listing once im done making the current order, then this like 8 year old's mother messaged me back apologizing for his behavior and that he is not getting this plush now

Honestly I preferred earphones to earbuds, earbuds just don't feel right plus they fall out too easily

Same here. Plus, with earphones, you don't have to clean off the wax every so often.

yeah i don't like the raycon for many reasons, but the one good thing about them is the design, they really don't fall out of your ears, they are very snug, but raycon didn't design them. also, headphones have better sound quality, battery life, and comfort.

Lol I listen to your videos when I get ready (skin care/makeup time lol) or exercise, and sometimes I draw while I listen. Depends on the time of day, what I have going, etc. I was exercising today and I had to STOP when you were doing the ad for the earbuds because you made me laugh too hard at the beginning 😂🤦🏼♀️ lol sorry just had to share!!! Love your videos.

Shipping costs cover not only the postage needed, but the other materials as well 🙄 such as the envelope/box and any packaging material needed to ensure the item is transported safely. Most people dont think of that because letters and such are the most common items sent by mail by the average person. And the majority of people already have envelopes handy in their house

Oh yea I have experience. Most of my customers have been great...except two, one was a minor thing the other was wtf. For context I make flower crowns, completely customizable. 1. The first person ordered a really pretty concept for their wedding. I looked everywhere for exactly the flowers they requested and spent a few hours making it perfect. Unfortunately, one of the sites I source my flowers from had a shipping backup so I couldn't ship it out super early (my estimated time for a commission is between 2 weeks and a month). The customer had given me the date of her wedding and I assured her that even if I shipped it the last day possible on my records she would get it with time to spare. I shipped it 3-4 days before the final date etsy estimated and I got a message from her saying it was beautiful when she got it...then I got her review. 4 stars (not the worst but I had a perfect 5 star score until this) "shipping is slow and it almost didn't make it on time".... cept my item listing says exactly how long it should take to produce and I paid more than what she paid in shipping fees (nearly 5x) to get one day shipping so she'd get it in time. Nothing too crazy but kinda rude. 2. This one was a gem. A person ordered one of my crowns and messaged me the flowers she wanted. I immediately started thinking about which flowers I needed to source but was busy with medical stuff so I couldn't reply. THE NEXT DAY, like less than 24 hours later, she contests the order with etsy claiming I'm a scammer for not replying within 24 hours. I send her a message saying that I had been having a hectic time and I was planning on replying right before she contested the order. I waited nearly 2 days for a reply from her before just accepting the refund/cancelation request and telling her she could re order if she wanted, but I didn't want any trouble. She sent me a snarky message about my customer service and did not re order.

Lol, I just started working as a graphic designer for an etsy shop, we make custom mugs, shirts, masks, etc. and yeah, customers can be pretty dumb. They order custom items two days before Christmas and are angry because they bought one day shipping and don't know that "one day shipping ONLY applies to the shipping and has nothing to do with the speed with which we complete CUSTOM items

My ex used to sell drinking cups made of horn on etsy, as well as other trinkets. She didn't really have much issues with clients, some stupid people of course that complain about the cup breaking after washing it in a dishwasher, when it is clarely stated that they are not dishwasher safe. But nothing major like this Karen.

I don’t sell on Etsy, but I’ve bought stuff from there several times and I’ve never had a problem! Funny how when you’re respectful and treat people as though they have value, your transactions tend to go just fine.

A friend of mine does custom costplay stuff. A guy ordered super custom bird feet on a big shoe size, but through no fault or her own, the shipping across the world took longer than expected. He demanded a full refund and returned them. She basically lost a lot of money because the order is so specific that you can't resell it.

The two times I used Etsy, I was very pleased with the products and the sellers. Heck, the last time, the packaging got loose and in transit the one-of-a-kind item fell out and I contacted the seller and they MADE ANOTHER at no cost to me and didn't charge for the additional shipping. I would buy from that seller again. The items are a Koopa shell necklace and my Wizarding World wand

I have only been a Etsy customer, I NEVER treat the vendors this way. In fact I just placed a custom order on Monday with a shop I had ordered from a few years ago. They sent me a invoice and I gave an extra $20 as a tip because I know the type of crap the sellers go through and this creator does awesome work. I’ve thought about opening my own Etsy but with the garbage that is their customer service, I’m more tempted to just do my own site.
@kittysakuraba16563 жыл бұрын
Not a creator for Etsy, but as a customer I try to be super polite. The one time I “complained” about an order was because the item was broken and the seller was more than happy to send a replacement. I was happy and thanked them for the help. I even told another seller that my sister was thrilled about the additional sticker the seller sent (as a freebie) and I’d buy from her again once the remaining stickers were released (bought recently). The seller was such a sweetheart during the transaction.

Hey, Etsy seller here. 2020 was complete and utter hell with customers. Ppl didn't understand shipping delays. So they did charge backs, bad reviews, and still got the item. Normal years you get choosing beggers but no where near as bad as this year. Ppl threaten bad reveiws. But now etsy allows us to fight back for the blackmail but not for the bad reviews for shipping

I'm gonna say this the way I and many other artists have been saying it for years: "Pay artists!" Don't be all, "Oh, ooh, oh no, that's too much!" Like, yeah, it's a lot, but you're paying for a SERVICE! Do you seriously just rock up to your local Wally World and go, "Oh noes! $300 is too much for a full cart of groceries! Could you pwease gimme it for free?" Like, gimme a BIG FAT BREAK! "I'm a single mom, can't you gimme a discount!?" Unless a full-body, full-color, shaded, w/ a complex background & 3 additional characters on 8"x11" canvas suddenly qualifies on your W.I.C. order...the answer is a resounding "N-O! NO!" >.
