California weather has not been kind and it's only going to get worse. I took advantage of the slightly cooler weather to pull the K20A2 from the RSX Type-S. Hopefully it'll be a cool summer so I can finish this swap.

Awesome video with details. I had a 2005 Civic Si that the K20A2 would have made it a keeper. OT. I use to live in SJ. Bought a 1992 GMC Typhoon. Visited the BAR 3x to get it to pass omissions.

So there's no way of saving your AC oil and you have to disconnect the ac lines and not move the AC out of the way?

I'm weighing my options. I don't have a lot of spare time for something like this, but I'm still interested. I guess the biggest problem with time is i don't have an indoor place to work on it. If i did, then i could just leave it in pieces while I'm at work. I might not need an engine swap, could try doing the head, had a spark plug break loose while driving. But i don't know how much metal got down inside the engine, and it was misfiring really bad for years before it died. For that reason, i think the best thing to do would be a new engine. Our i could just junk it

Best method is to have both engine and transmission out of the car. Not worth the frustration of trying to attach the transmission while the engine is still in the car.

Built;actually wrenching on your car makes your car more appealing then just buying a car and bolting on things is not the same.

Bought preferred. Why? because the original designers had already tested and built it to what it is. Requires minor mods or upgrades if any (entirely up to owner preference). You don't have to do it yourself and if so usually minor maintenance. I.e. an stock Type R/S. Why would you mess with the originality especially when it's already good the way it is? You'll mess with the dynamics of the car and make it unbalanced thus affecting its drive, performance, handling, etc... Unless you want it to drive a certain way: more oversteer/understeer, etc... On the other perspective, built does have it's pros/cons as well. It's a matter of whether you want to do it yourself or have someone else do the labor for you. Upgrades can be beneficial to any owner: more power, better handling, etc...For the DIY (Do It Your-selfer) you get the satisfaction that you did it and made your car into what it is; like it's your pride and joy, and you save on labor costs. For those who'd be willing to pay for someone else to do the labor it's usually they don't know how, don't have the time, don't have the tools/shop, or are just not the type to do the labor themselves. Either way, any approach does have its pros/cons. I prefer to keep an original Type R/S the way it is with minor mods/upgrades. If I so choose to upgrade it'll be bolt-ons unless I want a totally different engine like say a K20A Spoon engine. Now that's a serious upgrade which will cost a lot of $$. In this case it's best to pay the mechanics to do the labor especially if you don't know what your doing. This type of upgrade is the ultimate any Honda/Acura owner will truly lust for as well as appreciate. The high, expensive cost is the reason why they can't do so.

I am open to bought, but for now I have to say Built... Firstly I LOVE the idea of having a unique\customized car, Especially one that's done to my liking\standards & nowadays, car manufacturers aren't making performance cars to My standards... So for example I'm a Renault fan - I have a regular Clio II which, even though it has a 1.4L engine, is fun to drive(it's 1000kgs with about 98BHP)... Back in the day - 2003 - Renault made a 2L Sport version with 172BHP(about 1050kgs)& it's pretty decent with a 0-60 of about 7s... But then came the Clio III & it's sport version with the same 2L engine bumped up to 197BHP, but instead of it having a better 0-60, it was the same, because the Clio 197(it's actual name)weighs 1200kgs... Then can the clio IV sport which has a TB 1.6L doing about 220BHP & guess what - it too was even heavier at 1230kgs or so limiting it's 0-60 performance to about 6s, even though it has a Dual Clutch Paddle Gearbox... Notice the trend? With these trends & similar across other manufacturers I've realized that less care is being put towards the negative effect of excess weight of(cars in general, but especially)sports cars by manufacturers(& to a degree, many customers), & it's something I really don't like... So recently I've decided to ease up a bit on trying to get manufacturers to build lighter sports cars - especially since many have the wrong idea to remove seats, radios, AC etc to accomplish it - & instead, find a light weight car & mod it so I can get decent performance whilst reducing driving & maintenance costs... Because if you think about it, buying an economy car, putting in boost or swapping in a bigger more powerful engine designed to get a larger car to perform(engines are primarily made to suit the weight of the car), & upgrading it's suspension, brakes, etc costs less to drive\maintain than buying a full on sports car... & I'm certain you know this because I've seen a video about how much an R35 - which I see you own - costs to maintain... I Know it performs, & beating it's performance won't be easy or cheap for say this project of yours......but I'm certain that your project can be made to rival it if you wanted, & at the very least, your project can get to a point where it's awesome to drive & therefore worth the reduced performance... But that's me - what do you say? PS: Just got an idea for your Civic project to challenge your R35 at some point - like track days for each car - would you consider it? #JustAnIdea (I would, as long as the Civic made enough power to stand a chance based on power to weight - is your R35 stock?)

We'll see how the project turns out in the future It might get some competition with the GTR as you said.

@MarvinConnell
@MarvinConnell 5 жыл бұрын
@@GTContent Okay - so 542Hp stock, plus 25HP from exhaust mods gives a 325BHP\tonne ratio... So, (even though the K20A2 may need some improving)I bet that once the Civic gets near that ratio it'll be able to drag the GTR(up to a point - I've noticed that more HP tends to mean higher top speed even with the same 0-60) - but it may get a better lap time with a lower ratio around a track... Hopefully you're as interested in testing that as much as I am... Later... =]

Great video bro wish i could swap my civic to manual but i have no clue how. I hope you make a very detailed video about auto to manual on the civic because i have almost the same exact civic except mine is a 98 coupe but it still has the same taffeta white color (nh578) also if for some reason anything happens to the civic and you need to part it out please message me ive been looking for a 99-00 front end taffeta white so i can just put it on my car with no worrying about matching the color
