saphironkindris How so?Barbara contributes nothing to the conversations that are mostly just Burnie and Gus talking.Gavin is there just to make them yell at him because he cares about entertainment.Burnie and Geoff are by far the funniest people at RT and whenever those two were on the podcast together it was great.Gus is great too and hell even Jack made me laugh to tears sometimes.

Solar roads are super dumb. There is a long list of reason it wont work. IE driveing on glass, light levels and do you know how much energy you need to melt ice? Then there is the old problem of buried thing being super hard to maintain.

***** This whole idea is bad. The tiles themselfs wont be a good road surface for reasons streaching from traction to maintanace. They also wont collect power effectivly as you can angle them. The cost would be absurd. They would eat the supply of all sorts of material. And they would still be less recycled than actual ashfault. And I know its not in any form of actual use.

Just you saw RT on "At Midnight." I'm actually amazed at how damn funny, witty and hilarious Gus, Gavin and Bernie can be, especially under the pressure of tv. You can tell that these three guys could have been stand up comics if they had wished. They are damn funny! But they're also clearly talented in what they do for this company (RT).

What if someone in England and someone in New York held a rope across the ocean and a large meteorite hit it in the middle of the rope. Would the shock wave hit them first from the explosion caused by the hit or would they both fall in first then get hit with the shock wave?
@Azninjazn
@Azninjazn 10 жыл бұрын
i think they would run for it before anything else because they would probably see the meteorite before it hits the rope xD
@Life_Siphon
@Life_Siphon 10 жыл бұрын
If it hit the direct mid point of the rope, there wouldn't be a shockwave or explosion. Meteorites are usually the size of an ordinary pebble due our atmosphere burning and eroding the outer layers of the meteorite, thus resulting in an impact that feels the same as someone hitting you with a thrown pebble. Let's scale this down; this would be the equivalent of you and your friend standing right next to each other holding a piece of string between you, while another person drops a single grain of sand in the middle of the string... Would you feel anything?
@Purely0Fate
@Purely0Fate 10 жыл бұрын
Idaisu The Lone Bladesman it would hurt a bit more than that when you consider the acceleration due to gravity.(9.8m/s^2)
@term1nat0r2000
@term1nat0r2000 10 жыл бұрын
Well you are all wrong and here's why (insert long boring drawn out science rant that leads to nowhere and makes no sense but you don't know that so ha)
@Life_Siphon
@Life_Siphon 10 жыл бұрын
Zachary Seth Okay, so we factor in the acceleration (into our scaled down experiment)... That gives a noticeable change, the acceleration due to gravity would change the simple grain of sand into something much like a single garin of rice. In our experiment we change the a grain of sand into a grain of rice, this covers us in terms of acceleration (a grain of rice has a higher mass than a grain of sand, thus needs less time to get to the same speed as the sand will get to). This change will be noticable and if droped onto a piece of string you will feel a slight tug as the kinetic energy of the rice is transfered to the string, however when scaled back up to full size we would find that the transfer of kinetic energy from meteorite to rope would be very quick near the impact zone, but as we get to the ends of the rope the two people at either end will feel a small amount of the energy (1-20% of the energy) so this energy transfer from rope to person will result in possible damage to either person's wrists/hands. So maybe my first answer was a bit off, but I hope this may have been a bit more accurate

Does NI fund the NHS? I know I'm an American so I don't know the UK tax system particularly well but I thought that NI in the UK was the same as social security in the US. The only reason I say that is because a Puerto Rican friend of mine works in the UK and pays for a work permit rather than NI because he isn't a resident BUT he still has access to the NHS because he pays PAYE tax into the UK tax system.

This video's half a rock conversation calls to mind a theoretical idea of mine called the hiarchy of rocks. A grain is the smallest unit, then a pebble (less than an inch across), then a rock(bigger than one inch and can be held in the hand) then stones (require two hands to hold), then boulders (cannot be held but are still one contiguous object) then hills (a geological protrusion from the ground that is a collection of previous items that requires little extremities work to climb), and finally mountains, which are the same as hills but require extraneous labour to climb.

I would go to the Moon if they wanted to train me and send me. I've heard astronauts that have been in Space and on the Moon say that it was the most incredible thing in their lives. Like more incredible than their marriages, children, everything.

"Gavin's a filmmaker." "Why would you say it in the third person?" Oh fuck. That made my day. Burnie's serious face with Gavin's logic just made me have to seek out some spare pants. That was fucking funny.

The part about the asteroids got me thinking, it is said that the size of the rock that caused the death of the dinosaurs was around 10km long.. and here is Aussie, the rock Uluru (aka airs rock), also said to have the majority of it underground, i may be slow at only just realizing it but, uluru was probably the rock that crashed into earth causing that massive extinction.
@ninucho
@ninucho 10 жыл бұрын
Isn't it called Ayers rock, not Airs rock?
@Reddzion
@Reddzion 10 жыл бұрын
Demonic H eh, people spell it differently in places i guess. But i thought about it because uluru is just one giant rock, the surrounding area is just red dirt, no other mountains for hundreds of clicks.
@DontTellMyFriends
@DontTellMyFriends 10 жыл бұрын
Uluru is not the rock, in fact the meteor wouldn't have even survived the impact. It's believed the Chicxulub crater in Mexico was caused by the meteor that killed the dinosaurs.
@Reddzion
@Reddzion 10 жыл бұрын
DontTellMyFriends My mistake then. Eh, just it is around the same size of the said meteor that hitted the earth, with most of it underground surrounded by dirt and soil

There's something about studies done regarding layers of ash in the Earth and finding large amounts near Cuba that equal levels of such an impact

Why does being a nihilist have to be bad? Nihilists are skeptics who don't jump to conclusions. They aren't sure whats out there so they don't have an opinion on it. Its actually very logical
@xAlexanderGP
@xAlexanderGP 10 жыл бұрын
Skepticism and nihilism aren't the same thing. It's completely fine to be skeptical about things and question things, but when you come to the conclusion that everything you do is meaningless, well I don't think that's a great way to live. I believe actions have consequences and that we actually matter. You don't need to believe in a higher power either to believe that.
@Indiekid39
@Indiekid39 10 жыл бұрын
Well that's not what he said. He just said that when it comes to where the Earth is and its purpose in the universe, he doesn't know and therefore doesn't care. He's skeptical that there's a reason for Earth being here. I'm sure he believes in other things, just in this case he has no reason to make an opinion. and I agree with him. I don't think we matter and that's my belief. That's not nihilism, its humility.
@Indiekid39
@Indiekid39 10 жыл бұрын
and why do you get to say what is a "great way to live" If I want to believe we are here by chance and are just a bunch of aimless idiots then that's my choice. That belief actually gives me freedom to live any life I choose and not have to worry about the consequences. No consequences after this life just makes me want to party more and live what I consider to be a "great life"

the parking sign thing is interesting: some sign companies, like one i worked for, do keep track of the signs. also, there are specifications for distance from a road and walk way, as well as the amount of sign sunk in the concrete, the grade of sign, the colors, the grade and type of concrete.
