I'm from the UK, I was at work and I met an American girl that was studying over here. We only had 22 days together before her visa ran out and she had to leave, we knew we loved each other straight away and we made the most of every second of this 22 days we had together. But she had to leave! The night I dropped her off this song came out, I listened to it over and over... I'm not a soft guy(I cried like a baby) but this song means so much to me. After an awful lot of traveling back and forth/ stress/ and money we finally got back together. And now she's my wife!!! I've never been so happy!!!!!

Hearing Noel talking about this song was amazing. Saying how he was doing another run through, but he had no idea they were recording. So it’s far more personal than any other song. He wasn’t playing for an audience, he wasn’t playing for a recording. He was singing for himself. No exaggeration, no extra showmanship... just the beauty of the composition itself!

Those are the real songs that touch souls, that’s what people donˋt understand it is not about the one who most beautiful sings or the one who can get the higher notes like if it were some kind of sport. Music is art and art is about singing with you soul and pouring out your emotions into a song that has a powerful meaning at least to you, that is the way how people can actually relate and really feel it. That is why Justin Bieber songs or any of those pop singers songs never are going to stand the test of time. Real music is art, fake music is just entertainment like a rollercoaster in Disney or like a marvel movie. Two different things.

Noel says in interviews he got lazy as a songwriter. Then came Who Built the Moon. But he couldn't help tacking on this little song, which blows the concept of the album up like an acoustic grenade.

"Dead In The Water (Live At RTÉ 2FM Studios, Dublin)" For the shore as the night is slipping through my hands I fall into the sea like the empire built on the sand I've been thinking 'bout the days when we had no money That photograph of you, well it still seems funny Gotta get back to the promised land So don't walk away love There's never enough that could make me crash on the broken glass Let the storm rage, I'd die on the waves But I will not rest while love lies dead in the water Dead in the water In the water Dead in the water I'm waiting for the calm as the storm is getting under my skin I'm trying to fix the hole in my head where the rain gets in It's dripping in my ear, and it don't sound funny I'm gonna take you out when I get some money We're trying to get it back to the promised land So don't walk away love There's never enough that could make me crash on the broken glass Let the storm rage, I'd die on the waves But I will not rest while love lies dead in the water Dead in the water In the water Dead in the water So don't walk away love There's never enough that could make me crash on the broken glass Let the storm rage, I'd die on the waves But I will not rest while love lies dead in the water There's never enough that could make me crash on the broken glass Let the storm rage, I'd die on the waves But I will not rest while love lies dead in the water Dead in the water In the water Dead in the water

Amazing how Noel just left this track to fade away in his past until someone reminded him there was a recorded version of it sitting in Dublin. This is what Noel sounds like naked and vulnerable at his best.

This song stirs so many emotions. Sadness. Happiness. Regrets. Melancholy. Nostalgia. Youth. Good times that are in the past and will never come back. Only Noel can deliver such a heartwarming gut-wrenching song with heavy lyrics and deep meaning with just a microphone and an acoustic guitar.

We were doing a radio session in Dublin, in Ireland and it’s on KZbin, and I’m doing The Dying of The Light. So we go there, we’re doing that and it’s all going great. The guys come out and you can hear the studio chatter and the guy is saying, ‘Can we do it just one more time?’. And I had just written the song a couple nights before and they were messing about, moving microphones around and it sounded so good in my headphones that I just started to sing that song. I had no idea it was being recorded, right? No idea at all. We get to the end and the guy says, ‘is that a new song?’. And I’m like, ‘yeah’. Fast forward a couple of years, we’re in a meeting in the office and they’re like, ‘Well, there’s no bonus material for this album, so what’re we gonna do?’. And I was like, ‘well we didn’t do any b-sides, so not sure what we’re gonna do’. One of my people happened to be in the studio that day and he pipes up and said, ‘What about that song you did in Dublin?’, and I was like, ‘what song?’, and he said, ‘that thing that you did that time?’. And I went, ‘yeah, I’m not gonna re-record that.’ And he said, ‘no, they recorded it that day!’. And I’m like, ‘get out!’. So we got in touch with the studio (RTE) and lo and behold, they recorded it. And what you’re hearing there is just me singing it for myself. When I heard it back, I was actually open mouthed at how good it was, and I thought, ‘I’m gonna put that on the album!’. Because that is such a special moment in time, and I might never re-record that because it’s such a personal moment for me. And it’s live, and it’s as bare naked as you can get. And it was a brand new song, and it really is a great tune.

Was heading home last night and heard this for the first time when it randomly came on my shuffle. Listening to it and reading about how this recording came about just overwhelmed me. I listened to it easily ten times in a row. Makes me think of every girl that ever walked out of my life and how I manically tried to salvage something from the wake of all those failures, only to end up in a worse state than it was left. The way Noel sings and plays this, you can tell he really dug deep, tore his heart out, and put it on display for this song. Such pain and honesty in these words and chords. There are few songs I’ve ever heard that instantly captured me but this is easily one of them.

Crazy feels from this track. Life has been turned upside down for me. Struggling with on going depression everyday has brought my spirits down. Noel your music keeps me sane. This song is truly beautiful. It's keeping me going. Its helping me fight today and I know I'm not gonna give up and let myself go yet. This has been my way out. When you can't find yourself you've gotta dig deep and find the things that have made you happiest in life. Your music has done that for me. So I'll keep fighting, and taking it a day at a time. Thank you Noel. Incredible tune.

It’s been a tough year , my marriage broke up and Glastonbury 2022 was a turning point. I was at Noel’s set with a friend I had only met the day before. The song resonated with me and brought on an epiphany of sorts, I burst into tears, I was so grateful my new friend was there, we hugged shared a moment. A new dawn started from that one moment. Thank you Noel not many artists can have that effect.

This is best song he has written in years should have been single. I had pneumonia in 2018 over Christmas. It was severe and I had to go hospital. It's my birthday on 27th so had my 40th in hospital. I got discharged then found out my mum had taken ill same day she went hospital. She eventually died on 13th January. This was 1st.song I listened to when I got home just before she passed away. I relate to the last comment im the same. My dad died in 92 so I lost both parents now. Thanks for the song Noel write some more like this. Your best song since your 1st solo album by a country mile love and peace people x

What's the deal with glass???? Liam sings, "One day you're gonna shatter like a wall of glass" Noel sings, "There's never enough to make me crash on the broken glass" it's like they're talking to each other. I just can't believe it's beyond the wit of Man for one to make contact and to meet up over this Christmas and just bloody talk to each other like normal people. I'm not after Oasis reforming, it's just this is all so damn tragic to look on to from the outside.

I’ve been a massive massive fan of Noel Gallagher for 27 years now. Back in 1996 i watched the Brit awards for the very first time and there were these guys on there called Noel and Liam Gallagher, I had no idea who they were but i was instantly drawn to them, Noel in particular. Don’t look back in anger was the very first song i ever heard from oasis and i instantly fell in love with it and it’s still my most favourite song of all time to this day. Noel was born with a gift that just can’t be touched and in my opinion he is the greatest songwriter in the history of the human race. I will love him until my dying breath.
