yeah I also played this way before I even knew the N64 existed... In fact, I can remember not knowing what the 64 stood for, and I just thought it meant that it was made in 1964 😂. I also remember that playground rumour about unlocking waluigi, the two methods I heard were to either manage to clip out of the starting castle grounds map, or hit into a specific spot of the castle with the cannon that was known as "the hole," basically when you see the image of the castle in the world select screen (with the rippling water), on the right tower of the castle it looks like there's a hole that isn't there in the actual game... I think I caused mario a lot of brain damage trying to get it....

I love these Mario games streams. The games' sometimes scuffed, but because he's so attached to the game the streams really fun. It's also nice that unlike with RPGs (which are also fun), one mistake is really costly and you can hear the pain in Dan's voice when he fails. It's like roller coaster.

I think that's a mindset that's been slowly evolving in gamers. "Don't pick the main character because that's what everyone else is already going to pick" type of thinking. I don't think it's just with Mario and Luigi, it's just the easiest and most prevalent due to being one of the few games that retained being able to play as both throughout quite a few of their games. But that's just my take on it at least.

Kid 2: I swear to god he is!!!!!, Dan from the other class told me yesterday (idk how schools in Ireland work), he said that he plays with him all the time, and that you can get to new levels because he jumps much higher than Mario!! (none ever noticed Dan playing Mario 64 on his DS or bothered to clarify which version he meant)

I never see playthroughs of the DS version, and that's the one I personally grew up with. Great to see it after so long. Also glad to see such appreciation for the mini games, I probably played those more than the core game as a kid 😂

same, i got a pre-owned copy from gamestop with a completed save file that was never deleted and i felt so lucky bc i never knew how to deal with the ghosts in the courtyard so i'd play the completed game when i wanted to goof around and got to like 40 stars on my save file the 2nd one, i had access to all the minigames and gambling from the get-go, such good times

I was so disappointed, because I played the original Mario 64 on the N64, but immediately thought it was the wrong game after buying it, only to see Luigi there. evilvioletdodo that's called estrogen, and i don't think rt is taking it to cosplay daisy. it's kind of hard to go back and forth y'know. i'm thinking MAYBE voice training the main issue with mario 64 ds is that they ruined some areas' grass. that ugly chartreuse makes me sick it's mainly in the first area of the game too (Bob-Omb's Battlefield) is mario 64 ds lakitu a he? i think regardless of DS Koopa the Quick will call you out on CANNON USAGE. it's funny that in mario 64 1's age people were talking about unlocking luigi as a fake rumour, and in mario 64 ds's age people were talking about unlocking luigi as a real part of gameplay. though of course waluigi is there for those who want to theorize while i HAVE heard of shooting peach's face on the front of the castle to get waluigi i never heard of unlocking peach in 64 ds that'd be cool Spongebob's not TRYING to be annoying, he's not malicious or anything... the lack of knowledge on cosmic brownies lol the thing is, mario isn't even a boring guy. he's really fun. but in the mario games he's boring by comparison because he's the main guy who is always there, and in the smash bros games he isn't nearly as whimsical and is very very angry and also not fun to play against. and the movie made him chris pratt so despite some interesting aspects he loses a LOT of charm. basically mario is cool but never has a chance to be cool. that person who cried over the luigi spoiler for mario 64 ds hurts my heart :(
