I picked up two of the warehouse clearance No. 4 and they were incredibly nasty. I put one together with the parts from both. It took me about three weekends to get both in presentable shape. One turned out nice, with a walnut stock. The best one passed the muzzle bullet test. Overall, after the muck was removed, I was pleasantly surprised.

That's not bad at all. It's the MK 1* with the notch in the rail for bolt removal instead of the push button deal

I know for the life of me I can't remember the designations if enfields. I get the no and mk backwards half of the time.

Beautiful gun you should get the bayonet for it ,that seems like a great price

I have one but two rifles both need their own, right? Just another reason to buy a bayonet.....sounds good.

Your rifle is a Canadian made Long branch No 4 Mk I*. I would check the slot cut in the rail. Looks like it was chipped a little which might need a repair if the bolt head slips out. That stock should look great after cleanup, the Canadians did a good job on their furniture. So far looks like you made out well for the price. How's the bore? I got two of their No 1 Mk III Enfield Warehouse specials I should have posted up soon.

I don't think what you saw was a chip. That is a purpose notch cut into the rail to flip up the bolt head, and remove the bolt. The older ones have a push down release in the back that allows you to flip the bolt head up. I have both iterations. That's what RTI sent me.

@@noapologizes2018 yes on the Mk I* there is a slot cut there however the edges around the slot tend to chip over time and cause the bolt head to pop out of that slot. I've seen it happen on alot of these RTI No 4s from Long Branch or Savage.

@@tfusilier44 You know, now that I think about it, I have seen some with deformed areas around that small rail in the front past the notch.

@@noapologizes2018 the rifles in service in Canada or other places that cared for them better would repair any chips in that slot. In Ethiopia doesn't seem like they did...
