I have bought three weapons from Royal Tiger so far and have had three completely different experiences each time. I have never bought one of the "graded" weapons, just the basic "here is gun model" listings. First was an 1889 dated M86/93 Lebel. Shipped within 4 days. All serial matching, never N-Ball upgraded. So all WWI configurations. The finish is about what you would expect out of a warehouse gun and a single small Ethiopian proof mark is on the barrel. Open up the gun, and the barrel is somehow corroded on only one side and the left side of the inside of the receiver is pitted, but not the right side or outside. Tub Magazine Spring was one of the funniest Ethiopian bubbas I have ever fucking seen. The coils had broken so some backwoods dude twine and camel dung taped the coils back together in 13 places. RTI overnight shipped me a replacement for free. The second gun is a BEAUTIFUL 1917 dated Calvary Carcano. Damn thing looks new. Like 95% finish. all matching parts. Beautiful barrel and shoots great. Took four weeks to ship. The third gun, a M91 Carcano, took two months to ship, came with the cleaning rod basically bent into the barrel. Wood is... certainly used. The forward barrel band spring was tensioned with dried clay mud. The bolt makes you appreciate the ergonomics of a rusted Mosin. And the bore.... the bore, of this 6.5 chambered gun, which I have had a gunsmith professionally check for me, comes in at over 7.5mm. WE DROPPED A 7mm MAUSER BULLET FROM CROWN TO CHAMBER WITHOUT IT EVER TOUCHING A DAMN THING. Ethiopian bubba musta bored this poor thing out for some weird ass Ethiopian wild cat 6.5 necked up to 7.62/7.92 cartridge cause the damn thing still has rifling. And before you ask, yes we tried 7.35 Carcano. It would not chamber. The bolt only closes and locks with 6.5 Carcano. IT is the Vodoo magic Carcano.

Im actually working in the RTI warehouse now. Been there 2 weeks. Had to sign a paper that limited what i could talk about. Imma stay on the side of caution for what i disclose. Most of the bolts were pulled from the guns when they were put into storage i believe. Their grading system also seems to be determined based on the particular batch of guns theyre working with. The no bolt enfields are definitely rough and dirty, but i bore tested them myself, of my own accord, and about 90% of them passed. I think that they were ones from a tall stack of guns that were not subjected to ground funk from animals. The shipping department is nightmarishly under staffed. There are a TON of orders, and not enough men to gather the guns and set them up. Had a guy do like a 10k buck order on parts kits that needed put together.

@@VintageWarfare its a combination of that, and not enough space in the warehouse. Some crates are stacked 3 stories tall. Theres just guns and equipment absolutely everywhere. And those of us that are there are absolutely working to the bone to get things done. On top of grading and orders, guns also need processed. Serial number matched with what is on file for ATF reasons, and import marked. All while doing orders and pulling guns. The processing part needs to be exact, for legal reasons. And theres about 20k guns in that warehouse we are going through Not including building parts kits. It seems to be making a big difference, but time will tell on that. I know theyre still playing catch up. The increased warehouse space will help a lot. We are constantly slowing each other down by getting in each others way, just due to there being literally no room. That said, great job. Im seeing tons of rare guns. Shaw is an absolute expert in old guns and Uli seems to be a great and strong leader. I got to shoot an original 1945 STG44 thanks to them haha As far as cleaning guns go, i know they have discussed doing full on refurbishments, unsure when or if it will actually happen. I also got one of the Calvary Carcano’s (mine is from 1928) that came straight from Italy, the firearm looks amazing and really just needed a cleaning…until I loaded a round in it. 90% of the rounds I loaded into that gun would cause the casing to get stuck in the barrel or it would cause the bullet to get pushed into the casing like there was something in the barrel when there wasn’t. It’s like I was trying to load a round into a gun it wasn’t meant to shoot although it was clearly stamped 6.5 Carcano, knowing RTI’s track record I eventually put it on the wall and called it a day…that was 6 months ago last time I touched it.

What I do with rti is read the item description carefully. I buy based on that and not the a, b, c+, c, original, etc. I focus on their bore rating and what parts they say are may be missing. I always assume that it has the poorest condition bore out of the scale they give and if they have listed major components as being missing, I assume it will be missing the most expensive. The only deal I feel burned on is the 399 c grade hakim. Its stock was in three pieces and it had a lovely brass casing stock in it without the rim, so I had to carefully fill it with a low temp casting metal and hammer it out. It took many boil baths and a $200 replacement stock+ $50 reproduction mag. At that point, that’s getting into I could buy a better condition elsewhere for the same price. But I have lucked out… Their warehouse special Enfield no1mk3s were amazing for me. I got what they might call an a grade or original condition for 150. I’m pretty happy with that.

I ordered an assortment of 33 rifles from RTI, for a company I worked. In the assortment, we had Yugo Mausers, M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, various iterations of Enfields, German and Czech Mausers, and FN49s. Pros: 2 refurb Garands were in great shape all the jungle carbines and M1 Carbines had phenomenal bores FN49s were in great shape too Uli was great to work with and the female customer service lady. Middle Ground: Everything was very dirty and needed cleaning, but once cleaned most everything was in a safe shooting condition. Cons: Refurb German Mausers were in worse condition than the untouched rifles. The barrels looked parkerized without ever cleaning out the bore. So instead of shooting 8mm in it maybe 22 would work down that bore. 1 M1 Garand had a cracked receiver and needed returned, but they swapped it out with a replacement quickly. 2 Enfields were missing some screws, but not in a way that would be critical to the function. It took almost 2 months to get the assortment. There is a guy that is in some of their videos and it seemed like he was in charge of picking and shipping, so I'll ding him for being the reason of slow shipping. He was pleasant on the phone at least. This transaction was early 2022, so quality of refurbs may have improved or worsened and the good barrel carbines may be gone.

I bought an M1 Carbine from RTI a few years back when they were relatively cheap on the site, and after a month and a half I called to see where it was in shipping. The woman on the phone said first that my order hasn't shipped yet and to be patient, before later saying that I never bought anything from them in the first place despite my card being charged and promptly hung up on me. This back and forth continued for the next couple of days until I threatened a charge back and she finally passed the phone to one of the warehouse guys, who then confirmed that they had the order but forgot to ship it. Another couple weeks pass by and I get the most abused and filthy M1 carbine I've ever seen, with a bore-snake pull through spilling a pint glass worth of Ethiopian dirt onto my garage floor. Despite this it shoots great and makes the fudds at my range jealous, so it was worth it in the end. Also another bit of lore about the site: the same woman I talked to on the phone had a habit of deleting reviews below 3-stars on the sit, especially the B-grade surplus with pitted barrels, according to representative from the company apologizing for her shenanigans on reddit awhile back.

At this point I've bought 4 rifles from RTI. Do not bet on their refurbs being a ton better than their non-refurbed rifles, aside from maybe their K98 refurbs that apparently have brand new Criterion barrels on them. Why I say that is because one of the rifles I bought from them was a refurbished M1917 Enfield. James River Armory didn't do a terrible job refinishing everything by any means, but they definitely didn't properly take it apart to clean it during the process because there was a ton of grime under parts that aren't normally taken off for field stripping (rear sight, rear sight leaf, takedown lever, etc.) I was hoping for a shooter buying the thing, there was very visible rifling left and according to them, gauged a 5 at the muzzle. That might've been true, but it was a completely false reading because there was so much caked in there. By the time I was done cleaning it, it entirely swallowed a muzzle gauge and shot 2 foot wide groups at 15 yards with keyholing, so now I'll be needing to re-barrel the thing. Putting way more money into it than it's worth, but I can fix her. Other than that, I got a pair of No4 Mk1 Lee Enfields I paid the hand select fee for good bores only needed minor replacement parts, and actually had very good bores. Then there was a Carcano cavalary carbine which came from the Italian stockpiles in Europe proper that needed nothing more than a good cleaning.

Got a K31 all matching from them… absolutely *flawless* , I took it out of the bag and cold bore shot steel at 150 dead center. Superb rifle. That one cost me around 700 I got an M1 Garand (1950s) from them for around 800 and it has a beat up stock but the bolt and receiver work great and it shoots very well. Overall my experience with them has been positive but I understand all the criticism because people have been burned by them. I picked up a cavalry carcano on auction for the same price they offer on RTI in significantly better condition, and it came with a sling. They seem like they have a good service department at least, where as an auction is totally “as-is” sales.

The only things I've bought from them have been an M1 Garand receiver and a Garand bayonet. The receiver was fine but the bayonet was not, the scabbard was busted up and the blade was dull as hell and tip was gone.

I will never forgive them for when I ordered a parts kit. The website said they had 40 left by the way. After a couple weeks they finally told me that they had actually run out. Then a few weeks after that they released the same parts kit for a couple hundred dollars more

C+ grade is a step up from C grade. C+ just guarantees it actually functions how it should (bolt cycles and safety works)

I bought a m1 garand that they said gauged at 1.5, and when I gauged it was a 5, and it had a bulge in the barrel with very little rifling left.

Wait do they base out of the country? Takes a month just to get any parts from them.

I enjoy RTI. If you buy with a "I'm going to the Indian casino to smoke ciggarettes indoors" degenerate gambler mindset you will have a good time. If you buy looking for a museum piece you are a few fries short of a happy meal.

I have a RTI No 4 Mk 2, cannot shoot it without a mallet to smack the bolt handle back due to the casing fire forming to the rust pits in the chamber. Also their refurbished MAS 49/56’s are legal machine guns according to some youtubers lol.

It’s a gamble, but you can reject them and deal with the hassle of a return. M1 carbine was great, in condition I paid for, very good. Carcano was on sale and was as expected or even better than I thought I would get for $99. Now my m1 garand I paid for a very good to excellent condition and got one that wasn’t worth scrapping, stock broken, barrel rusted all the way down the bore. They made it right because I refused to accept it from my FFL and shipped it right back. They sent a poor condition rifle (at best) to me after I paid for a supposedly NRA rated very good to excellent condition rifle. I ended up paying a little extra for a “refurbished” rifle and have been satisfied but would have liked a very good condition rifle as advertised with the patina.

Got a fucile carcano and it was hand picked and the barrel was so shot out I could hardly see the rifling

i bought a karg98k from them with the new criterion barrel. expensive? yeah, really nice condition? absolutely. I went and shot it and it was super accurate. glad they put the effort into cleaning them and making them work nice. but obviously many of their guns are in poor quality due to being stored in ethiopia.

RTI is great if you want to larp as a guy with third-time-around hand-me-down gear in a third world country.

I had a very similar experience. Very nice woman on the phone but awful experience regarding order fulfillment and shipping times...such a shame because not many, or any, companies are importing these less-than-common firearms.

So I have an RTI story that did not involve me visiting the RTI website. So Classic Firearms and Atlantic FIrearms sell RTI guns on there but dont tell you that they are RTI guns. I ordered a Moschetto Carcano and that game in great condition and a No.5 MkI that I had to spend a month refinishing the wood on and it was filthy. The wood had been painted a brick red so I had to remove it with citrus strip and glass and redo the boiled linseed oil finish. It turned out fine but beware of Classic Firearms and Atlantic Firearms. You may get an RTI gun.

RTI I think would be great if they had better grading and quality control, coming from a guy who has bought five things from RTI and two of them kinda ass.

I’ve always thought that they were slimy, if I recall the owners of Royal Tiger Imports used to run IO, a company known for making shoddy AKs. That alone should tell you everything you need to know.

I bought two Enfield's from RTI . One was a #4 mk1 , numbers matching, Even the mag has a matching serial number to the gun. The other is a # 5 mk1 Jungle carbine. Both have dark bores but good rifling. The #4 holds a 4" at 100 yds , while the #5 holds a 1,5" to 2" group.

$499.99 - $599.99 No. 4 MK1 SMLEs are my kind of thing, so maybe I'll look into them... but hopefully with a healthy dose of realistic expectations for the quality. On a side-note; You're Ethiopian impression made me tear up a bit because it sounds like the one that TwoMad used to do... I miss him.

Where in earth do you get ammo for that carcano?
@desertdude5403 ай бұрын
You can get cartridges or brass from Prvi Partizan or Steinel, and brass from Norma.
@desertdude5403 ай бұрын
Correction: Steinel doesn't have brass, they had a cartridge that had "brass" in its name for some reason. Everything's on backorder, so I checked Starline's site, since that's who they get their brass from. 6.5 Carcano isn't listed there at this time, so I guess they're waiting until there's enough demand to justify another production run. So you can get Steinel cartridges loaded with lead bullets (FMJ is on backorder, but they still have this), cartridges or brass from Prvi Partizan, or brass from Norma. That's all I can find, but I didn't check any surplus sites like Old Western Scrounger or what have you.
