Merry Xmas Yap...🎉🎉🎉🎉. Thanks for the RTS updates. I was making a rough estmation the other day, using KL LRT as basis: 1) Planned to ferry 10k passenger per hr. 2). During peak, frequency assume at 3 minutes - 60 min ÷ 3 minutes = 20 trips per hr. 3). 10k per hr ÷ 20 trips = 500 passenger to be ferried per trip. 4). Base on KL's LRT model (The Kelana Jaya line) each set of train comes with 4 coaches. 500 ÷ 4 = 125 pasaengers to be sardined into each coach. Working this basis, i think it will be quite jam pack in a coach , even without seat available (i assume no seat, all passenger to stand cos only takes 3 to 4 minutes journey😂). With seat around it will b even uncomfortable to pack 125 passengers i to one coach. The 20 trips per hour can b divided 10-10 each taking off ftom both terminals sides. So Mr. Yap, is my modelling sensible? Any comment n feedback in this POSSIBLE scenario of RTS when on full running? I am visualising a simulation into the future , on the possible peak hour operational conditions. The other concern is does RTS company has the budget to buy 20 sets of train (each with 4 coaches) - a hefty sum involved😂😂😂. TQ
@SGYap11 ай бұрын
Very good calculation indeed! From what I read, it is 3.6 mins intervals during peak hours and the trains have 4 coaches each. That means about 16 trips per hour instead of 20 trips per hour. The trains will likely have seats. The cost for taking the RTS most likely will be higher than taking the existing KTM Shuttle Tebrau, I estimate it to be RM 8 and SGD 8. I think the bottleneck should be at the immigration clearance, looking at the limited land at Bukit Chagar, likely immigration complex will not be big. Woodlands North side should have a bigger immigration complex compared to Bukit Chagar.
@KUKUMAIL11 ай бұрын
@@SGYap First n foremost thanks for sharing what you've picked up so far. 1) Frequency interval at close to 3.5 minutes would result further worsen the already 'sardine' pack condition (@ interval of 3 minutes). 2). S$8 (whopping RM25) is pretty xpensive (for my kid travelling daily to n fro for tertiary study over there😬😬😬). Why can't Spore side price it at more reasonable rate, say S$3.50?😂😂😂. Really got to factor this into my budget....since u have mentioned it now😂😂😂. Have to apply for college student fare for sure😂😂😂😂
@KUKUMAIL11 ай бұрын
@@SGYap Thanks for your input🙏 😄😄😄Am an ordinary common guy on the street, making some guesstimate figures😆😆😆. 1) S$8 is pretty high for my son's daily travel to n fro for college study. Don't understand why must be X to X digit matching fare? RM25+ (@current xchange rate) is really excessive😓😓😓. Have to apply for college student's fare for both sides to cut cost😂😂😂. 2) Yes....CIQ will b the bottleneck, especially JB side. Wonder if daily boarder crossing Q for student n worker lane will b faster or not🤔🤔. These are critical factors in determining wake up time, travelling time n arrival at destination time. Hope both sides immigration would apply the state of the art facial sensing system or any fast clearance system to reduce clearance time. My rough estimate of travelling time from Woodland North MRT terminal to any poly n u is within 30 to 40 minutes, very fast. In fact, Republic Poly is about 100m + walking distance from RTS Woodland North Terminal🙂🙂👍👍. Should both CIQs are efficient, it will s so fast n efficient to reach destinations in the island Republic👍👍 I need to go back to the my budget drawing board to factor in this S$8 n RM8 RTS fare😂😂😂😂😂. ,🙏🙏🙏
@SGYap11 ай бұрын
Correct, it will not be cheaper then the current KTM of RM 5 and SGD 5. Likely will be RM 8 and SGD 8. However Malaysia side recently mentioned they are planning to make it RM 5 for KTM for Malaysians either direction. Hence if this is a possibility, maybe Malaysian may get to enjoy RM 8 for either direction for RTS.
@SGYap11 ай бұрын
I think Malaysian students can use e-gate for both CIQ when crossing by bus, hence it should be fast. The bottle neck could be the waiting for bus to cross the causeway.

Unless they construct some form of LRT in Johor, the RTS is just pushing the congestion back to Johor itself, just imagine the massive number of cars at EDL and Terbrau Highway fetching passengers down to Bukit Chaggar to ride the RTS.
@SGYap11 ай бұрын
Yes, you are right, the RTS is going push more traffics into the city area. A BRT/LRT system is much needed
@nick_155111 ай бұрын
It will actually go beyond that. That's why before RTS, will come KTMB's EDTP completion & the introduction of ETS & Komuter services so that more pax who live where the stations currently serve will hopefully ditch their cars at home or at the respective stations & just rail all the way, whether by Komuter, or LRT. BRT might be a bit hard in this regard, but the lower-income ppl can benefit if the facilities are adequate since BRT may be cheaper (although still not cheaper than the buses in themselves)

@SGYap10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. I do not do properties research but I do know what are the properties nearer to the Bukit Chagar RTS station. If you are thinking of the current nearest to the RTS Station, it should be Tritower, Twin Tower and SKS Pavillion. There is also an upcoming development called Urban Oasis right next to RTS Station but it is not launched yet. I do not know how to recommend as I did not study the psf, layouts and finishing.

1:11 Gunung Pulai is more likely to be benefitted from KTMB's EDTP project than RTS itself due to its close proximity to Kulai station. With the future Komuter & ETS services, one can just rail in at any time from JB Sentral apart from the current fixed timings of the Express Selatan services
@SGYap11 ай бұрын
I feel a lot of residents in Singapore like to do hiking but with limited areas to hike in Singapore and Bukit Timah Hill is not really that challenging, they may be excited to know that they could easily take the RTS to Bukit Chagar and after that get a grab car or taxi to go directly to Gunung Pulai. Kulai station is nearer but there are limited KTM trains scheduled per day and the KTM timings may not suit the morning hike that hikers prefer. To get a grab or taxi to Gunung Pulai, residents in Malaysia may find it more convenience to alight at Kulai while residents in Singapore may find it more convenience to alight at Bukit Chagar. Gunung Pulai will likely have more visitors when both the EDTP and RTS are ready.
@nick_155111 ай бұрын
@@SGYap yes. But by then, EDTP will be completed & Komuter services should be available. Even running at the current Komuter Utara scheduled frequency is still better than the current. 😅 If its early morning though like at sunrise, then no matter what, from SG, driving in will be best.

my heart skipped a beat when the news broke that they are looking into bringing LRT to Johor Bahru. that would do wonders to the city. Though I'm a bit skeptical with how they are switching their attention to LRT when they have had the BRT project planned and trialed since the last 5,6 years 🤔The inconsistency of those higher ups are questionable but not surprising.

With regards to KTMB EDTP, what you can do is to look up for: 1) SCM channel who does a consolidated update once in 3 months. 2) those who travel on these KTMB Intercity trains in Johor. There are a few who film KTMB trains & rides on the EDTP sections. You can get some updates from their videos too. The KZbin channel "Ikhwan KTMB" goes on a ride to-&-fro every 3 months. In fact, he just uploaded a few today. The EDTP progress is, due to its way longer distance than RTS, not possible for KZbinrs for videoing every month as it takes an entire day to travel to all stations. Even for those who film via train rides, it takes at least half a day to film the whole trip via Express Selatan (either ES42, 43 or 44) or Express Rakyat Timuran (ERT 27) train services between Gemas & JBS. And then there's all the editing to be done. 🤣 So if you want regular EDTP updates, it is better for you to search on KZbin yourself (usually Gemas JB EDTP will do) & filter accordingly by week or month. It's better to get from more than 1 source for these.

Ends @ JB? The original was all the way to Tuas , along the west coastal land if Selangor all the way to Johor. Of course plan can b changed, but what's the point of having to cease @ JB? This comes into direct competition with KTM's ETS service. Furthermore, both targeting customers from different segment n it does not give convenient of quick cross border travelling n crossing (possible of enroute n taking off from Changi for many destinations not offered via KLIA) .
