By all of my preference stormgate should literally be the perfect game for me but battle aces just makes me more hyped than stormgate ever has

The beta for both has been fun and I'm excited to play both! I think it will be a good year for RTS

Stormgate is almost entirely a remix of too-familiar SC2/WC3 mechanics, wrapped in extremely bland graphics. So it feels dated even before release. This game meanwhile feels fresh, even though in many ways it's a throwback to way before SC2. I'm not sure about the lasting appeal - it's so simple, after all - but so far I'm also looking forward to it more.

@@musashigundoh The negativity and tribalism in the RTS community is hilarious to me. Both games are free. It costs nothing to try either game and there is no reason to try to convince other people a game is dead before it has even hit early access. As a community we should encourage new RTS to be made and foster growth in the community as a whole.

@@Maw0822 I really wanted to like Stormgate when it was announced, but everything that I've seen so far is about as exciting as an airplane meal. And I don't think a game should be immune from criticism just because the genre is barren (and/or because it's in beta; in fact, being in beta is a chance to fix it)

Those raider units at 14:00 are so good, they delete workers instantly and don't get selected when you select all units so it's super easy to use without hindering your main army micro

Just imagine if the Blink units regenerated health, or had a regenerating shield, so you could take damage, blink back, and recover to full... Naw, no dev would allow that. 13:55: The universal reaction to Raiders xD 27:20: Let the war-crimes begin!

33:50 i mean it does feel more like a moba, at least to me. I always played multi unit characters in dota like Meepo or lycan so being able to focus on the combat really makes it more interesting to me

raiders are worker harassment only, they do no damage otherwise ... starforge stingers are a better general harassment option imo

10:56 Question, why doesn't beasty just fly up the main base and kill workers there? Why keep trying to kill the workers in the expansion base with is air units? Is there a wall preventing him from passing by and just doing a flyby on the main base? Do they have slow fields like in SC2 where units move slower if they pass it? I don't think it is just beasty forgot. Jeez, this guy rallies 5 liberators on 5 different bases while he attacks the front. Not to mention all the series where he just drops mines or marines on the supply lines.

based off that first game, it seems like whoever tech first loses. i hope the fix that somehow, or the game might become kinda one dimensional. other than that think game looks really fun

That's a big conclusion based on 1 game. I don't think that's true in most games. Of course just like in AOE, in some matchups expanding is the right choice early.

I ve played about 50-75 matches, in my experience the standard is Expansion - tech - Expansion, but it also varies on unit composition and the results from the early skirmishes. One base swarm all ins, one base tech all ins and triple expand can also work out, depending on your micro and your opponents choices. Of course, it isn t perfectly balanced yet, but it is in a good state to play and balance will be adjusted. This is a closed Beta, afterall.

The game looks so slow. A lot of time spent doing nothing in between small fights. 2v2 looks a bit better.
