President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. witnesses the capability demonstration of the Special Forces Regiment Airborne (SFRA) of the Philippine Army as it celebrates its 61st anniversary at Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on June 25, 2023.
With the theme, ‘SFRA: Competent, Resilient and Effective Special Operations Forces (SOF),’ the occasion showcases a Military Free Fall (MFF) capability demonstration performed by the 33rd Special Forces Coy troops of the SFRA. Following this, a hostage situation scenario unfolds, complete with explosives and live fire simulations.
The MFF technique is used by the SOF to infiltrate behind enemy lines by jumping out of an aircraft at high altitude and free-falling until a parachute is deployed. It is a highly specialized skill that requires extensive training and experience, and is commonly used for high risk missions such as reconnaissance, sabotage and direct-action raids.
In today’s event, President Marcos Jr. also gives recognition to combat awardees and civilian awardees, among others.
