We have been on the Road since the beginning of December 2018. Started in Sydney and hoping to finish in London around September 2019. All we have are our 2 Suzuki DR650s. This is Episode 4 of our little adventure.
Trekking up volcanoes for sunrise, swimming in many of the beautiful beaches... we do it all on one of Indonesia's most amazing islands - Flores! oh and rain... once again, lots of rain. But what else could we expect when travelling Indonesia during it's wet season.
enjoy

North and Left a Bit , Japan is fantastic, I love it there and keep going back. I used the DRZ for the trip because I had it already as a dirt bike. It converted easily to a travel bike and was ideal for the trip, particularly through Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos, but also across China. However, I am thinking of using a DR650 for a South and Central America trip so am keen to see how your’s go.

Thanks! I saw the bike build video. I was more interested in learning about any issues during the trip. Did the bikes ever leave you stranded? What was the issue? Etc. also curious about general maintenance. How often change tires? Brakes? Clutch? Oil? Etc.

@Northandleftabit 3 жыл бұрын
@@stevenpelayo9418 sounds like a good video idea to me, we will try put something together but in shirt... The bikes were amazing, we definitely abused them but they just kept going. We changed oil when it got too black 5-10000k depending on oil availability (Jay had to use diesel oil on his which worked fine) Tyres just kept on going and going we both changed our rears 3 times but the last change was right at the end of the trip. We did have some major issues but you will have to wait for the Kyrgyzstan video for that. We ended up using a part off an old Russian Ural to get the bike going. Try doing that with a modern bike. Super cool videos guys! Just watched Sulawesi and now this one, gonna watch them all, as I decided yesterday to get a bike and go around Indonesia in about 2-3 months. I live in Bali, which is not as interesting to me anymore compared to other more beautiful parts of the country. I will be going by myself, was supposed to go with my partner, broke up a couple of days ago thou. :( But I need to do it. Need to buy a bike and plan my trip first, even thou I like spontaneous decisions along my ways too. Any hints on how to prepare for it would be awesome. But don't worry if you don't have time. One question thou: what time of the year were you going around Indo? Seems like a rainy season. I'm thinking of leaving in September or so for 2-3 months. Anyhoo, all the best and can't wait to see your other videos!

Just watched your Flores Episode again. Excellent. I was surprised you didn't comment on just how winding and up and down the road is. It really takes "twisties" to another level. I have not ridden Flores in peak wet season but one night in Bajawa I experienced the heaviest rain ever . It was extreme! I remember shivering inside my denim jacket in the mountains between Bajawa and Aimere. Lots of mist and drizzle. Flores is just a magnificent island. Those drone shots are superb.
