I'm the customer who sent the card. Very nice to see it being worked on, very interesting! :) To be clear, no one has done any work on the board since the original owner bought it as new from the store, he only cleaned off the board with iso after he discovered the liquid on there. I feel that it should have been sold as a refurbished card since this is what I assume it technically is. Idk if the store or Asus or some other company did the work on the ram chips but neither me nor the original owner has done anything to it, besides the liquid damage lol 😅.

Whoever worked on it did a good job, but the card is definitely not in factory condition

you did the right thing to send the card to Krisfix. they also rescued my card after a water leak. 👍👍👍👍

you're an educational channel. people watch your channel and attempt repairs. when they fail you're the only person they know that can fix their screw up :)

I think so too friend. I told Northridge fix it was one level down from Kris which is not bad.

17:18 I have never seen text so clear in a KZbin video, it is literally pixel perfect. I have a 1080p monitor and the video quality was set to 1080p and when I saw that I jumped forward in my seat because I thought that was something wrong with my own monitor. I don't know what you did to get such a crisp image but like I said, I've never seen something so crisp on YT before. Wow!

The large majority of videos are captured and loaded to KZbin with compression by those who are uploading, either intentionally or unaware. I've tested this myself trying to determine if KZbin compression was lowering quality but found that If I sent in a lossless video it appeared as lossless quality in KZbin playback. I will agree with you, high quality uploads really stand out once you see them.

@@btwbrand That is untrue, youtube reencodes all videos. The reason that the text looks so clear at 17:18 is that the grub menu is exactly 2 colors, no anti-aliased rasterization, so the compression algorithm can use all the remaining bitrate to make it pixel-perfect.

Amazing video. The skill is obvious. Just came here after der8auer spoke of you. Can't wait to see what's wrong with his 4090 and also what he broke in his attempt. I have 2 questions for you: - what is your background ? Electrical engineer ? - how did you learn all of that ? Again amazing video, I love the process of troubleshooting, deciding the fix, executing it and test. Like a mix between software engineering, elec engineering and surgeon :)) ! Cheers from Frankreich. Can't wait to see more videos of you !!

Thank you I studied engineering physics. Everything is achieved with a lot of experience and a lot of time invested in searching for resources. I have one rule when I do repairs: The problem must be located as accurately as possible before any repair work is undertaken.

Maybe the RAM chips chage was not at all connected to this fault, but a completely separate repair in the past?

can you tell us more about PEX rail and PEX reset what they do ? the normal readings ? common issues ? i would really appreciate that :D and great job like always, we're learning a lot from you, Thanks :D

Why are you measuring the Voltage drop in Resistance? Because i get confused when you for example measure something, and the Resistenance is 249 Ohm and you say "Voltage drop is.. XX Volts" Am i Not getting something? Great Videos :)
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
Resistance causes voltage drop. Measuring resistance is the same as measuring voltage drop without needing to apply power.

What if you don't know the board and don't have boardview to say what the PEX reset should connect to? Any hints how to find it? I have similar problem, all resistances look ok, but PEX reset is OL. Gigabyte dual fan RTX 2070(according to the seller, but it says TU104-400A-A1 on the GPU)

It looks like it's missing a memory chip. What's up with that?
@btwbrand Жыл бұрын
They all are missing this chip. It was never installed because it wasn't needed to meet memory requirements specifications for the card. 11 chips for 11 gig of memory. Titan versions use all available chip locations and install 2 gig chips for 24 Gig of memory. Likely just a cost cutting measure since only 11 gig was needed to be competitive with AMD at the time.
