Dude, I got a 3080 10GB for $300 recently for a build, and an RX 6800 for $270. I decided to test them both in my living room "console" build with a 5600X and 32GB of DDR4 3200. Blew me away that when they were both undervolted and overclocked the 6800 got within margin of error of 6800 XT numbers, had about 35% less power draw, accounting for RDNA 2 TBP, than the 3080 and performed so closely that I saw no reason to use the Nvidia card in the build. An RX 6800 level of performance per watt in that system is now what I would like the top end of RDNA 4 to offer so I can upgrade.
@KevinEF24 күн бұрын
the 6000 series is amazing at oc and undervolts. I undervolted my 6800xt and it consistently gets 22k+ on the graphics score of time spy, the base clock gets 19.4k. After running a 1070ti, I was thoroughly disappointed that the 3070 wasn't a stronger card, and the measly 8GB was already a limiting factor on the 10 series. Went to a 7900xt fairly recently and good god, it blows the 3070 out of the water in every available matrix by at least double. I primarily went for the 7900xt for both the boost in VRAM, but also because the AMD card was an absolute steal at $630 for a Good card (the 3070 I wasn't paying inflated prices and got it at ~$540 when mining prices disappeared). While I use it primarily for CAD/modeling and some simulation duty, gaming has been Beautiful being able to finally see amazing fps in Ultra settings. Definately!!! Nvidia people say that dlss is soo good but each card only supports one gen of dlss meanwhile even gpus like gtx1650 are (barely) managing playable fps in modern games with FSR.

Been rolling with rx 6800 since chip shortage. Been a great buy. Do some graphics settings tweaking and overclocking can pull out very manageable 30fps + on ultra for most games. I'd still cut out any ray tracing and crazy shadows but that's just me.

I have both cards, RTX 3070 TI 8GB and RX6800XT 16GB. I bought them used for exactly the same price of $300. AMD cards have a about 10-15% higher FPS with a less power draw at stock and also better stability. But RTX has better tuning ability with MSI Afterburner, and I feel the RTX card produces a better image on gaming.

i undervolted my 3070 it uses 130-150W instead of stock 220W for the same performance, stable and no crashes, extremely efficient card

@lsnexus208025 күн бұрын
@@lucasremnot a good card either. Unless you are buying 4070 Ti Super with 16gb card. The best nvidia card release as of the date for both price and performance, Vram, and capable of running full RT in 1440p with high FPS on demanding games like wukong.
@yr6sport41825 күн бұрын
@@s4yto Yes, the 3070 has more room to reduce power with undervoltage using the MSI afterburner. My 3070TI draws about 280-300 watts in stock, and with undervoltage it can reduce to 200-220 watts, but at the same time I can apply a little bit of overclock to the VRAM and GPU to make the card perform better than stock. My RX6800XT will draw around 260 watts in stock, but the power draw has a limit to be reduced to only 5%, or a maximum 6%, to around 235-245 watts.

@domoncar678225 күн бұрын
It was always a chip shortage and was called that then as well. It's just that in the PC building circle it affected GPUs the most. Outside of that, the chip shortage is still affecting many markets. It caused the car prices to soar and has made spare parts difficult to procure. Airlines were hit and so were many many industries. Entire designs had to be redone to handle the chip shortage.

Hmmm, I don't think the 6800 is capable of anything new. The 3070 was always a 1080p RT card regardless of how it was marketed, that's where it's strength lies. I'm gussing there's a few frustrated 1440p 3070 owners out there now.

This is an interesting video. I am curious though. I recall when the RX 6800 card came out that the performance was more in favor of the RTX 3070 card in most games. Is this improvement in performance in games simply down to the games being benchmarked, or is there a significant performance increase provided by the drivers being used? Don't get me wrong, I love my 7900 XT card that I have and the 5700 XT I had before it was a great card for me. But the original reviews I thought showed the 3070 being the more performant card?

i've been comparing the 2080 ti or 3070 or 6800 for months and bought the 6800 2 days ago on ebay because of the 16gb vram. I thought about buying the 2080 ti but because nvidia might be ending its driver updates sooner, that's why i choose the 6800. I wanted the 6800 over the XT version due to power usage. the 6800 i can still use my 550 watt as long as i keep it at stock and i also got a 5700x that has a 65 watt tdp. Also since i got a 5700x, i want to utilize the SAM for the 6800. Also another reason i picked the 6800 was price, its currently around the same price or cheaper used than the 3070 on ebay. Also i don't have to use some weird connector that could potentially fail or cause a fire that Nvidia had done. Also with the way games are going, 16gb is just future proofing so later down the line, the 6800 will still be a value card over the 3070 which might not be around much longer due to the 8 gb vram.
@lawfulsoup833524 күн бұрын
My 6800xt is amazing at 4K with the extra vram. it actually is comparable in a lot of games that I run on my 3090 system. Only difference is that you make sure ray tracing (Shiny textures and depending on the game mirror reflections on glass) is completely off for that. But even games like Throne and liberty and halo infinite run basically identical for FPS. also to note is the 3090 has a AMD 5950x cpu and only 32gb of 3200MHZ ram while the 6800xt has an AMD 5700x3D and 32GB of ram at 3600mhz. Not sure if the 3D cache helps this case with the 5700x3d vs the 5950x.

My 3070 can struggle at 1440p medium settings when playing Diablo 4. That game uses almost all the v-ram. If I’m trying to stream the game, OBS constantly gets encoder overload even when lowering the preset. I hope to eventually get a new gpu with higher v-ram
