The 7900 XTX Alan Wake 2 1440p and 4k results are both with FSR set to balanced. Also, the shimmering when it comes to the side by side runs are due to my captur card, it can do 4k@30.

he set +15 power draw on the drivers , usually that gpu on stock sits at 320-360w max no way near 400w at least that Pulse model. also u can undervolt it further to get like 320-330 w max.

The cheapest 4080 is about 25% more expensive than the cheapest 7900XTX in The Netherlands. Comparing the Asus TUF model for both shows the 4080 being 30% more expensive. Glad I went with the 7900XTX when I bought my current GPU some time ago, the difference was just as big back then.

Dang over in the US the cheapest 4090 is 2000.00 USD and averages around 2500.00, while the RX 7900 XTX is averaging 1000.00 USD atm sells for 750-850 not to long ago. Go AMD definitely glad I went with them AMD take over. Nvidia can keep their over priced GPUs 😂

@@SadalDay Yes the RDNA 3 was half baked in my opinion, RDNA 4 is going to be 4nm and monolithic, however no high end options but the 8800 XT is supposed to be 7900 XTX performance almost with way less power draw and 7800 XT price, if this is true then I am definitely finally upgrading to that.

Wow this is exactly the video I've been looking for since I am choosing between 4080s and 7900XTX. It's quite interesting since this is the first video I've seen where AMD shows great performance in RT. All the other 4080 vs XTX vids show Nvidia beating AMD hard in RT and pretty much keeping up with XTX in normal non-RT performance. Great to know that XTX is also performing well.

The XTX is good at RT, except in games that are Nvidia optimized, but the 4080/4080s would be better if you are looking for RT in all games

you have to check the date of the video benchmarks as most benching is done on release date. theres not a lot of benching videos done after 1 year of release for GPUs, which is very important for buying GPU that are old now. Usually AMD GPU gets better performance and beats its Nvidia counterpart. AMD still falls short on RT side as Nvidia has a leg up on them years ahead.

The 7900XTX really does do good at pure raster performance, but using an extra 150w to beat the 4080 is quite a turn off. Then if you flip on RT it sinks to the level of a 70 series. I can simply overclock the 4080 and make up most performance losses in raster while still using 100w less.

Yep, but have a look in the description, these cards are tweeked. The 4080 stays close to the 300w mark if not tweeked as you can see in dozens of KZbin video.

every other review is done with a intel cpu and i felt that it was a bit unfair bc the best cpu out for gaming is the 7800x3d. Also when using a amd gpu and cpu theres smart access memory and i wanted to know how much that affected gaming performance. @@mikemwps i can count with my 5 fingers only a few games that have good rtx implementations also dlss isn’t worth it I barely use it in my 3070 at 1440p not worth the fluidity of the induction of input lag, also amd has better price to performance overall diminishing a good card for 1 or 2 features is bs, and shows how little you know of computers and how easy it is for big brands to put an outrageous price and braindead people buying into their products like apple does,and having games like alan wake 2 forcing upscaling is a trashy move to avoid native optimization, you can cope all you want but until the 4080 super releases the 7900xtx is better in terms of longevity and raw power

​@@mikemwps new games are made in UE5 where AMD shine becouse ray tracing is software i have 7900xtx and 4070 and can tell u that in games like Hogwarts Legacy that are mostly now u need more than 16gb of vram thats why 1% low there are 1.6 fps, so its 7900xtx or 7900xt or 4090 who is the best but extreme expensive price for performance. im not saying that 4080 is bad but its no worthy paying extra 200 euro when 7900xtx equivalent perform better in most of games and better on work.

Had 4090 in april for my birthday, however faulty suprim x heatsink had to go, they refunded me and i didn't get 4090 again, decided not to buy it because of burning connector issue. Stayed on my 3080, however it will be going out because 10gb of vram is not it. Will be getting 7900 xtx for sure after 4080 super arrives, possible that it will drop price even more

I have Sapphire nitro + 7900xtx and 7800x3d (CO 34 negative), G skills 32BG cl30/6000mhz (EXPO) and on 1440p Horizon zero down Average: 205 and 1%min 110fps. Why your framerate is much higher?

Both are $1000 graphics cards, and if you're only gaming a 4070/7800XT are better buys since both of them are currently $550. Between a 4080 and a 7900XTX, despite the XTX having 8GB more VRAM, I'm choosing the 4080 over it just because of the Nvidia features. And at the $1000 price point, in my opinion ray tracing definitely matters.

@@casuallygamin9 Entonces yo tengo un problema con mi modelo xfx. La temperatura máxima que he llegado a tener ha sido 65°C la gráfica y 98°C el punto caliente. También tengo que decir que es en zonas muy concretas de juegos demandantes, pero aún así los 30-33°C de diferencia que tengo no son normales, así que le cambiaré la pasta térmica a ver cual es el resultado. Gracias por aclarar la duda.

I bought a 7900xtx for 940 open box. It's a powerful card, but it is an electricity hog. I had some crashes in the games I play. I probably pushed it too hard. Then I came across an open box 4080 for 929 euros. I returned the 7900 xtx and bought the 4080. It's more power efficient and I can use it for my rendering jobs. I use software that exploits cuda cores and it has all the best upscaling options and better ray tracing performance.

@@casuallygamin9 It's a PNY, basically a low cost model based on the Nvidia reference board with an AIB cooler. This is one of the cheaper 4080s. The 7900 xtx was a high end board.

With the current pricing both cards are bad value. Price adjusted 7900 XT is a better buy, (still far from a good value) but if I would have to choose between the XTX and 4080S, it would be probably XTX. Couldn't care less about raytracing it kills performance, the NIVIDA Control Panel looks like something from Windows XP era and here where I live its like 200 bucks more. In 1440p both upscaling technologies looks decent, NVENC couldn't care less not a streamer. People always jabber about NVIDIA features but unless you specifically need CUDA for some serious work I just don't see what it offers that would serve as a dealbreaker. Power also negligible, if you tune both cards and do not overclock which is pointless anyway for some 5 extra FPS, you get about 80W difference at full load. Let's say full load like gaming 5h/day average, 50 bucks/year in my country, negligible again. Great video

AMD destroying nVidia & Intel (I am a proud owner of 7800X3D and a bit less proud owner of RTX 4080 also) personally I went nVidia for the software purpose and for major VR performance (as internet says), but now since Adrenaline 23.11 (or 23.12) things start to act really solid on AMD GPUs too

Well, when it comes to software it depends of what you need. I use DaVInci Resolve for video editing, and the 7900 XTX works without an issue. When there is an update for DaVinci resolve, when the app has issues, it does this one both vendors. I can't tell you how many times I had the error that I ran out of video memory, and when I swap to the 4080 I have the same issue. In games, if you like RT the 4080 is the better choice, but 7900 XTX can do RT, it does bad in Nvidia sponsored titles. If you needed the 4080 for the software that you use, don't feel bad, as the choice you made is based on your needs. I'm a QA in my day to day job, and I think that most apps are tested with Nvidia GPUs as they have the biggest market share, and AMD needs to work a lot to make those software work with their cards. Nvidia doesn't need to do much as most software is validated pm their hardware, but can't be 100% sure about this claim.

I can imagine, but all GPUs that consume a lot of power will exhaust hot air, add that on top of the CPU, as these days all CPUs are designed to function without issues at close to 90ºC and you will have an oven in your attic. Chose which one is better for your needs, regardless of brand.

Kinda unfair to compare in RT games. RT is a rare thing and not really important given how good raster lighting is. AMD would beat it in most games with RT disabled. Nobody uses RT for more than screenshots, unless they are a console bro who loves low fps lol. Even on a 4080 its not smooth enough.

Not really. These are 1000+ euro GPUs and I think RT is the future, but it should not be overlooked. Sure both struggle at 4k, and without upscaling most games will run below 60, but I don't think we should not test games with RT. Besides the 7900XTX does good in RT, only in the games designed for Nvidia GPUs it struggle. In UE5 the performance difference is minor, at best.

I believe its the future too, but rn its a horribly optimized rare alpha state feature with questionable results. There is not enough difference to justify the big performance or price impact. Path tracing looks good but is even less optimized. Maybe in 2 years its a feature worth considering. Thanks for the comparison!

This model is quite big, even though it's a budget one. It's by Galax and in Europe it's known as KFA2. With great mass comes good cooling, but, to be honest, it's not needed. You should see the box for it, it can fit a 24" display. This is what I find the most puzzling
