My best guess would be optimization. Maps like west coast have been updated a lot over the years, others haven’t seen much focus. But the other part I believe to probably play a big factor is foliage. Idk why but from my experience of changing graphics options in beam, foliage usually has the most dramatic changes

The FPS inconsistencies at the start of the video come from a few things. The first one is driver/clock speed configuration or a physical bios switch on the card to switch it into performance mode. Idk if your 4090 has one, but mine does. Make sure PCIe 4.0 is enabled in your bios as well as resizable bar and hardware scheduling. Second, there’s a maximum bandwidth between the VRAM and the die, and that’s usually the culprit if not one of those. The fps stays the same as you raise the resolution because the bottleneck isn’t the GPU, it’s the VRAM bus being pushed to its limit as there are too many transfers and can’t keep up. Edit: performance elsewhere seems about right, but I’ve noticed that if even one of those isn’t set correctly the whole experience is just worse overall. Doesn’t hurt to make sure they’re on either, they’re features of the hardware and interface that were the main reason there was an upgrade lol Don’t discount what anyone is saying about map optimization either though. Poor map optimization will only make these problems worse. That optimization is usually memory oriented

BeamNG is very CPU intensive. I'd love to see you try a 7950x3D when that launches, should improve gaming performance by about 20-25% hopefully. And then you might see the monster that the 4090 is stretch it's legs.

@@pleaseenteraname4252 threadripper wont improve much with beam ng performance since single core performance is more important than number of cores because beam ng doesnt nearly utilize all the cores of a threadripper. And the single core performance of a threadripper is average compared to a 7950x or 7950x3d

SEE THIS! Also very RAM dependent too! If you have a i5-4690k ( my CPU ) and then a RX 570 4GB VRAM ( again, my GPU ), you can't run more than 4 cars in normal graphics settings. I can't even play that well because my PC has 8GB RAM, which is not even the minimum required. I want a new PC so bad.

my personal theory on why the 4090 improofs jungle rock for excample so much more would be that as you said wcusa is more bottleknecked by your cpu while jungle rock isalnd which has a lot of graphical things going on is more demanding on your gpu.

I’m sure other people have said this, but you are seeing cpu bottlenecks in some cases. Once a single core gets pegged at 100% you aren’t gonna get more frames than what you are currently getting. (Big fps increases between resolutions because load is being shifted from the cpu to the gpu)

BeamNG is a rather CPU intensive game. The tests that you ran with traffic for example would depend on how many cores you have on your PC. Yes the GPU does make a difference in FPS but if you combine it with a CPU that has alot of cores such as the new 13th Gen i9 processors, you'd see a massive performance gain to the point where the game would be something like asseto corsa but with traffic and physics

I believe that the 4090 running differently on other maps has to do with your CPU, because it somewhat deals with big loads such as traffic cars. Games such as Assetto corsa (because for some reason Kunos made it very CPU dependent) or BeamNG will most likely work better with a better CPU because of this.

The performnce difference between maps is likely due to west coast having so many more assets loaded compared to Jungle Rock. This causes your CPU to become more of a bottleneck in West Coast.

Nope. It's not WAY more. It's a -1 -> 5 %, depending on the workload. And AMD does do better at Recording+Gaming at the same time, because of the full cores instead of the 8B+16L architecture that intel uses. So no, he wouldn't have gained more FPS from a 13900k. And honestly, this way he will have a better upgrade path, because Intel, in their infinite wisdom, can't keep mobo compatibility for more then 2-3 generations, while AMD... On a x370 board you can run 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000G and 5000 series CPU's, so if you bought a first gen Ryzen, you could upgrade now to a 5000 series CPU, or even to the crazy 5800x3D that is still one of the fastest CPUs for games. And him, with the 7000 series board, can upgrade next month to a 7900x3D, which will improve gaming performance by about 20-25%, if AMD is to be believed. For the reference, I aint a shill. If Intel had the clear performance advantage, like in the 9900k era, then I wouldn't have said that you were wrong. But they don't. Their advantage is small, and will be beaten. Which is only for the better for consumers, as that means they will lower prices, so more people will be able to afford the new gen CPUs... Only wish it was the same in the GPU market.
