@@D.Feenstra that's funny, because at 39 I built mine. (About a month ago, just turned 40) I think this one was my 4th builds, but my last one was built literally back in 2007/2008ish. Then I entered a phase of not having the time or money to put into it. I gamed on consoles, which served the job, but wasn't ideal. (And if I build myself a gaming PC, I resolved that it was gonna be a really GOOD one.) I put a Ryzen 9 7900x CPU and 4070Ti Super(16gb RAM) in it. 32GB of RAM, 2tb Samsung NVME and a 27inch 1440p 165hz refresh rate monitor. I had forgotten the freedom and quality of PC gaming and the ability to crank all settings to absolute maximum. The 4079ti super is an absolute beast; most importantly, the 16gb of VRAM it has. Can't wait. I haven't been excited like this in awhile.

I am expecting that AMD will destroy our expectations again. Nvidea is not even in my radar anymore. What matters to me is $300-$500 range GPUs. That's it. As $300 GPUs can perform at 1440p fine and $500 will be the most amount of money you will need to spend for the great experience. 4k might be good just like 8k is awesome but that doesn't mean cards can perform at that level. DLSS don't count.
@MormonDude11 сағат бұрын
Didn’t LTT do a video on how there isn’t really a huge appreciable difference between 4K and 8K?
@DenverStarkey8 сағат бұрын
@@MormonDude yeah i think they did . but general rule of thumb it's about pixel density (pixels per inch) versus size of the screen you are viewing. 8k diferences is only noticeable on screens 65" and up as that's the size where 4k pixel desnsity starts getting noticably lower than 1080p on a 40 inch screen . the difference between 4k and 1080p is only noticable on screen 32 " and up for the same reason. put 1080 and 4k on screens that are only 25 inches and you'll not see a difference because 1080p pixel density is already so packed on that screen size. same for 8k on a 42" screen size you can't really see the difference between 4k and 8k , but go to a 80" screen and it becomes extremely noticable. bassically if you're running a desktop monitor that is 27-32 1440p will be amazing for you , if you're on a 32-55 inch screen 4k is where it's at. and well if nyou're rich enough to get an 8k screen that 60+ inches then yeah you'll want 8k ... but for most folks that sort of TV/monitor is just not in reality for them or their wallet.

@jarivuorinen38785 сағат бұрын
@@DenverStarkey Pixel density stuff makes no sense this way. 65 inch screen you wouldn't stick 700 mm from your nose, it'd simply be uncomfortable to constantly turn your head to look at the edges. Big screens are for longer viewing distances and thus pixels appear smaller again, so pixels per inch is not the ruling factor. You can't really watch a movie or play a game or anything like that if you're practically only looking the middle of the screen, while form factor on 1080p, 1440p, 4K, and 8K is the same anyway. There are very niche use cases when you look at huge screen up close and these are basically what multi-monitor setups already achieve, and it is to have separate content on each, for productivity tasks, for photo and video editing on professional level. There you may stick your huge display to your nose, but for gaming makes no sense. There is exception of course for gaming, VR. These are essentially maximum FOV displays and benefit from high pixel density. There are guidelines for viewing distances for televisions, and these are not just marketing bull. Same applies to monitors. 8K of course could make sense in the world where games could natively render to it in feasible way, but this day is not yet, unless you're happy with extremely low FPS. This could solve some problems with jagged edges without the typical anti-aliasing blurriness. But this is largely achieved already with 4K. Unfortunately, many games set a limitation with piss poor quality textures projected on objects, and this trend is ongoing. High pixel density won't make that kind of slop go away, you'll just see the 2D texture resolution more clearly. This is the eyesore that high resolution will never fix, if source material is poor then that is what gets displayed.

I understand your point on the 8800 XT, but it is such a pet peeve of mine when the community declares "Product X SHOULD NOT cost more than $YYY". Like... We don't even know the performance of it yet. We don't even know how NVIDIA's product stack is priced yet. Based on the collab with Sony it is not hard to imagine massive leaps in RT leading to performance around a 4080. Do I think this is likely? Not really. But if this was the case $600 will be a GREAT deal. We should only care about getting better performance per cost and not draw arbitrary lines in the sand.

I hear you! And you're right lots of factors will go into this.

@doaks3112 сағат бұрын
@PohnnyRico It's a bit of wishful thinking, but the PS5 Pro technical seminar was very informative. Sony + AMD have been working at this for years and RDNA3 was just too soon to see any of that R&D payoff. The more likely scenario is performance around a 4070 Ti Super. Then AMD will have to resist the urge to price at $600 and instead opt for $500, which would be a great value!

I don't know what articles you read about the tariffs of 2016 but current economic reports estimate it cost the American consumer as a whole around 3.2 billion each month in added tax and 1.4 billion in "real wages" average prices rose an additional 10% to 30% on average which was in line with the tariffs and company's just passing on the bill to consumers. I mean just looking at individual bans the effects where terrible, the china trade war bankrupted the farmers of middle America who sold a lot of their produce to China which forced the government to subsidize them currently with no end in sight since China now simply buys produce from South-America etc. This isn't an economics channel so ill just advice people to listen to you on computer/tech stuff(which you do brilliantly) and to ignore the tariffs section entirely since it doesn't reflect reality. And for the person posing the question, yes if the tariffs do go true company's will raise the price of their inventory even if they imported pre-tariff. That's exactly why a lot of company's are stocking their warehouses currently, no company is going to snuff at free margins since they are in the business of making profits.(which they absolutely should do) The best defence for Trumps "economic plan" is to hope he doesn't fulfil his campaign promise. Which oddly enough goes for a lot of his proposed policies and is a common place defence used by his own voters so no clue where that leaves Americas economical future. Anybody who thinks this wont effect their prices only needs to look at current freighter prices that are already rising by the promise of him being president. Company's don't make bets if it will happen, they will prepare for the worst possible state and charge the consumers extra for their added cost's.

In a way, I hope they don't price the 5000's at $299. Just last Christmas, my gift to myself was a used 3060ti for $300. I would hate to think that for the same price I could have had a 5000 series, even if it's an entry-level 5000. C'est la vie. Such is the life of a home-builder. Actually, upgrading from a GTX980, I am beyond thrilled with the RTX 3060ti, and it's going to be carried over into my next mobo upgrade, if and when.

2k 5090 and 1k 5080 makes the huge cut down seem sensible. I agree with you on how the 90 class can be something ridiculous because it's the best performance on the market. And that 80 class has to offer some value on the basis of being less powerful. Worst case is $1200 for about 4090 performance and I think that's still worth and I might get one

My 3080Ti FTW3 puts out more FPS at 4K than my monitor can handle, so ... I'll mostly skip the 5000/8000 series cards until the next generation cards are announced and spend my money on a new 32" 4K with 240Hz refresh rate for most likely less money than a 5080Ti.

@tilapiadave3234 nvidia cards are great but some people think they magically use less vram for some reason to warrant spending tons of money on a 8gb card is nonsense.
@tilapiadave32342 сағат бұрын
@@DarkStar-qe2qu I have no thoughts that Nvidia are magic ,, just superior. Vram is not the answer to all problems ,, the Vram acts as a buffer for when the gpu processor needs more time to process the inputs ,, so a slow card such as the RX 7600 xt is basically a waste of vram , and that is why an 8gb vram RTX 4060Ti trounces it in many games. A faster card with extra vram Not just a gpu with more vram is the answer. Otherwise I would buy cheap GT 1030 ( 2GB ) and add extra 14 GB of ram.

On the high end Nvidia is going to do whatever they want because there is no competition. The best we can hope for is same price as now plus 100 to 200. The real battle will be at midrange i think. Depends on who announces first and how aggressive they get.
