yeah, the the other rtx setting above the rtx hdr also greatly enhancing games visuals without reducing fps, at least for that setting, cant tell about the rtx hdr cause i cant use it.

You can get the same effect (from boosting middle grey in RTX HDR) in Windows 11 auto-hdr by increasing the SDR content slider brightness and using the appropriate srgb->gamma 2.2 ICC profile alongside it to correct the washed out image that results from increasing that value. Not sure if maxing out that slider can go as bright as RTX HDR w/ 100 middle grey but it might be worth checking out for the rare games that do not support Nvidia game filters (which is needed for RTX HDR to work).

But other than those occasional games, it usually does affect the average brightness in applications/games using Auto-HDR, you can especially see it when watching a video in Chrome.

As an aside, for RTX HDR it appears that having multiple displays is not yes supported, and the in-game HDR must be turned off. No matter what I do, at the moment with the beta, I can't get the RTX HDR option in the app. I will have to see if anything changes with the next driver update.

I have a C2, so unfortunately I don't have access to the BFI that you have on your C1. Instead, I just use HGiG. Would you still recommend maxing out the middle grey setting in RTX HDR even when using HGiG at 800 nits max brightness?

I'm finding it very tedious to set all of these options on a per game basis so am trying to see can I automate it with some scripts, but have not found one yet that can set the sdr brightness slider in windows HDR settings.

At 60 OLED Motion Pro high is a lot brighter than at 100 and 120, so you can try to push a little bit more highlights and get a nicer HDR effect

Perhaps someone is able to help me with this... I can't get RTX HDR to work for any game (DX9, DX11 or DX12). I am on W11. Auto HDR is disabled (and HDR is toggled on) in Windows settings. I can turn RTX HDR On no problem in the Nvidia App, even with DSR Factors enabled in NVCP. But in-game the HDR filter sliders/values are grayed out and it tells me the filter will apply if the game is restarted. Disabling DSR Factors in NVCP did not seem to resolve the issue. Also, I have disabled Auto HDR (and HDR is toggled on) in Windows settings. I did however apply emoose's NVTrueHDR mod to one or two games before. To fix things if the native implementatation is not working correctly, Emoose says to use the Restore button on the 3D settings page on the NVCP, and that's what I did. Could using this mod have messed things up? Also I have a (HDR) TV as second display hooked up to my PC via HDMI. Now I only rarely use it for gaming so it's almost always turned off with the Display settings configured to 'Display only on' my (HDR) PC monitor. Completely unplugging the TV from my PC didn't the resolve the issue. Perhaps I need to remove the TV from my devices in Windows (in Device Manager)? (Another thing to mention is that I used ledoge's autohdr_force to apply Auto HDR to some games. I deleted the entries in Registry Editor afterwards. I do not see how this could affect RTX HDR though.) I have the dylanraga icc/icm profile applied with custom peak brightness altered by the CRU app. Maybe I should revert to the Standard Windows calibration app icc profile... EDIT 1: Ok so I have emptied the luminance fields in CRU's 'HDR metadata' setting. After this the Windows Display settings showed 1499nits and now it has of itself gone back to 3900nits (the value initially set by Windows HDR Calibration app). The 'Relaunch game to see the effects of this filter' bullet point has disappeared in the In-game overlay RTX Filter (while 'This filter will be applied across all profiles' remains there). Plus I am now able to move the sliders. However the peak brightness cap is now 1000, which is way lower than the 3900 nits my monitor can achieve. Also HDR still just doesn't trigger. HDR + WCG image viewer confirms this: it registers 256 or 229 nits.

Hey mate im new to HDR gaming and understood already that its a mess, im using a C3 42'' as Gaming Monitor rightnow and rn started experiencing with HDR settings and Dynamic tonemapping, i usually enable Hgig and calibrate in auto hdr win11 the hdr profile. the reason im doing this is cause of dynamic tonemapping the white colours are too powerful for my eyes its hard to read subtitles in games even because white is too flashy when i enable dynamic tonemapping, i installed the rtx hdr today and am experiencing rn. your profile you re using rn in the game shown above, is it universally a good profile or only for your tv and the exact game?

Off topic but I’m using the nova lut mod on cyberpunk (they made one for hdr) and that with the nova lut env, darker asphalt and hd textures, it really makes this RTXHDR shine. Best the game has ever looked. I haven’t used the native hdr since.

I go back and forth on which env to use, but modding this game at least at a surface level is so easy. There’s a mods folder in the archive folder and you drop the 4 files and and done. I agree the nova lut mod makes it a whole new game.

Why is no one talking about the input latency this setting adds? I tried using it, and could immediately tell the difference in my input. Moving the mouse around feels significantly less responsive with the RTX HDR setting enabled. It also provides no real advantage for some games. I'm using this feature on an LG C2, for reference.

Okay I'm making another comment as asked. The program I used to measure the brightness is "HDR + WCG Image Viewer." This application can open .jxr files, give an estimated maxCLL, has a luminance heatmap filter, a filter that makes all SDR pixels grayscale, and an SDR tonemapping filter. I use Shadowplay to make .jxr files using the screenshot option. In the past the only way to guarantee a .jxr instead of a .jpeg was to open the overlay and manually click the screenshot button instead of the hotkey, the old overlay dimmed the background game but the new one doesn't which is a pretty nice upgrade for this method of brightness analysis. It's not as convenient as Lilium's ReShade Analysis but it won't get you banned in games with an Anti-Cheat.

BTW do you know how to get RTX HDR to work on regular Windows 11 desktop use? Deleting the extension blocks seemed to just ruin alt tabbing. Is this suppose to be blurry integer scaled. I just tried integer scaling on a 1080p from 720p saw no difference and bought a 4k thinking now i can just run 1080p on 4k 1:1 with a 3060 TI was looking exactly the same. Plasma , auto hdr on ps5 does not work like on pc , if you switch on always hdr on in will only apply to sdr games. And if you switch off in games hdr and then enable auto hdr it wont affect it , it will use native hdr for games that have HDR already and will apply to games that are on sdr and that don’t have native hdr. You know what i mean man?🙂
