Love this playthrough. So happy I found a creator who plays these games with a similar style than me, like analyzing and discussing different elements of the game, such as environmental storytelling, 3D environments, story elements, stuff like that. Don't see enough people appreciating those things! Would love to hear your thoughts on BG3 sound design sometime, it's PHENOMENAL in this game.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoy this series! I like how BG3 sounds, but I don't really know enough about sound design to comment much upon it

Hey Melth, loving your videos man! Fun fact, the Rat Bat is an easter egg from the show, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’. It’s a nod to the character in it named Charlie Kelly.

Neat, my brother watches that show sometimes. Glad you like the videos!

I think the key to understanding Thisobald's origins is Balthazar who is Ketheric's key ally since he turned to Myrkul. We know from Balthazar's "brother" that he is a skilled necromancer than can graft undead flesh into a monstrosity, and that Ketheric raided his own family tomb in honor of Myrkul, so it stands to reason that Ketheric had Balthazar raise or construct his "child" Thisobald. Perhaps he was one of Balthazar's earlier experiments to improve on his brother? It's a lot of speculation but you also have to read between the lines because there's a lot of lore scattered about in the environment and notes/books and such. Otherwise I agree it would make no sense since Ketheric never mentions his "son" only Isobel.

That's a good thought. No evidence supports it, but Balthazar certainly could have reconstructed Thisobald into this weird hippo thing. Ultimately, I just don't think the writers thought it through because no explanation is offered. I think they thought they had a cool idea for a scene (correct!) involving a fat monster bartender and they just went with it without making the design make sense

I like drinking with Thisobald. The more content you do the more things you can talk about and the lower you go on the list of options the easier the dc becomes so it also sort of rewards you for having done those things.

Interesting that the lower dialogue options have easier DCs! That's a fun mechanic that does indeed reward previous exploration.

Hi Melth! Idk if you knew this or not, but it’s very helpful for me in big battles. If you press the tilda (~) key at the top left of your keyboard you can get enemy/ally outlines to show up. They show through walls and also highlight enemies that tend to blend in with the background. Super useful when you have a big map like this with spread out enemies! Anyway, great job with thisobald. Can’t wait to see how you handle the Balthazar fight - especially with all that parkour you’ll have to do with your summons to get down to the plaform :)

Thanks, I do use that key at times. But usually I end up just clicking on the enemies in the initiative tracker at the top, since I always have an eye on that anyway. Afterall, I'm usually trying to eliminate enemies in initiative order so as to never let them have a turn

I really like his one dialogue line: "the customer is always right but also wrong"
@Melth8 күн бұрын
I *almost* really like that one! I think it could have been very funny as a response if we'd either been asserting a claim OR making a request, but it doesn't make as much sense when we're just exchanging information.

My rational brain understands that Thisobald is probably having you drink some necrotic alcohol, but my heart tells me that he's making you chug liters upon liters of Baja Blast. 15:38 You can press left shift to show enemy and NPC vision cones.

I think he's making us drink Big Blue, a drink worse than any necrotic booze could ever be!

Hello there Melth, huge fan of your videos, i've actually watched a lot of them more than once. In fact, this whole series inspired me to pick up the whole Bard/Warlock combo, albeit in a slightly different configuration mostly for personal preferences, and although my character is fairly different from Bhaalista, i was curious and wanted to ask, which spells do you aspire to get at level 10 through the use of magical secrets?
@Melth5 күн бұрын
I think I'd say the best spells to get are 1) Counterspell 2) Powerful summons such as elementals or animate dead 3) Hunger of Hadar (Mainly because so few characters get access to it and there aren't any scrolls of it, unlike various other almost-as-good control spells

I find I really can’t play again without an item rebalance mod… so many interesting but utterly useless weapons and items in act 2
@Melth9 күн бұрын
In general, I don't mind if some items are fairly bad, since there are a decent variety that are good for the right build, etc. But it does bug me that there are a few items which are so overwhelmingly good that they're a staple in every single party.

I temporarily stopped listening to an audiobook to watch this video. I know this is off-topic but I recommend Shahnameh (physical/ebook/audiobook) to anybody that likes D&D, Greek mythology or heroic fantasy. Even though I am only part-way through, it is great so far. Imagine the Middle Eastern setting of Arabian/1001 Nights but it is more combat-oriented and more of a chronological series (with some massive time skips) than an anthology. Arabian/1001 Nights is more like Grimm Fairy Tales in the Middle East.
