RUB and BUFF | Rubnbuff DIY Projects

This video is all about how I used Rub N Buff on three different projects. The first project was giving my foyer light a makeover. I chose the color 'GOLD LEAF". It was super easy to do! The second project was taking my black desk handles and making them gold with the same color. AND, did you know Rub N Buff comes in black? My outdoor keypad lock and handle had faded over the last few years, so I used the Rub N Buff to bring it back to life! Rub and Buff works wonders!

I just ended up here because I saw a short where someone used the gold leaf rub and buff to do the frame of their TV. Then they went to a vintage art KZbin channel. Scrolling art hanging on the wall. 🖼️

Great idea for the door handle and door lock! I use to use this product when I made candles! I only had one tube in gold but it lasted for a long time! I am glad to see they are still making it! I will have to get some!

You are right...so much prettier! My grandma was the big Rub & Buff queen in the late 50’s, I believe they just had gold back then. I have used it since we married in 1968...it lasts forever! We had a furnished apartment and I was unhappy with the decor. I use it still on picture frames that need some attention. Your light is just stunning! Thanks for the lesson! Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕

Hello favourite designer, These little tips you show are so amazing and helpful. I was waiting for you to get some gold on the white ceiling but no, you did not! It is so easy to refurbish something which need to be re-juventated. I have used gilt cream many times and in particular to customise picture frames to achieve an antique effect on an otherwise dull frame. I have only this week painted a dark grey wooden lamp base and equally dull grey shade using a Farrow and Ball paint sample pot to get a more linen colour to suit my bedroom decor. So much better than replacing. Sending hugs across from the UK.

I ordered some and am going to apply it today on a door lockset I had to replace. The only one available was satin nickle and I need dark bronze so I bought black. As a former handyman in high school and throughout college, and after having renovated several homes, I'm a pretty capable handyman/problem solver. I personally would have removed the light fixture to refinish it. The lockset, too. You did a great job, but ensuring the lines are crisp and even is tedious.

That light looks great! not sure my neck would handle the top inside. You did a good job. Once you got the itch you went for the door. That made it look very different. Classy. Really great ideas. Now I have some ideas. I won't be running outside to do anything. Someone said we have 4o inches of snow here in Iowa. I have not been out for a week. I have been painting inside my kitchen cabinet. How cool is this! I have a question. We have a kitchen /dinning room combo. We just repainted all cabinets white with matte black knobs. We also installed lights over island and sink that are the farmhouse industrial look in the color of dark bronze. The dinning room has an old chandelier that is silver, looks like it was painted silver. I plan on painting it black to match the knobs and black granite countertops in the kitchen . However after watching this do you think I should do rub and buff in bronze or maybe even something different? Btw I think your husband was right!! We all need to encouragement even in that moment ! Haha

I have this bright yellow bronze bathroom towel holder that I would like to "antique." Is there a way to thinly apply the ebony rough n' buff so that plenty of the bronze shows through? And is it a good idea or a bad idea to use on a towel holder where people dry their hands and the towel constantly gets pulled on?

I tried touching up an old copper lamp and when I try the "buff part" it just rubs right off, what am I doing wrong? I did use plastic gloves to put it on and tried both buffing right away and then again letting it dry.

I just received my new rimless eyeglasses in the mail today (online order). The hardware pieces (nose bridge and side pieces) are very noticeable because they are screwed directly into the lenses. But the gold color is way too shiny, and the nose bridge is thicker than my previous glasses, so that's what you're looking at when you look at my eyes. Would Rub N Buff work to tone down the gold finish, or provide a matte finish? I had never heard of Rub N Buff until I googled to find a metal paint I could possibly use on eyeglass frames. This looks like a miracle.
