New subie!!!! Your videos are very informative and your voice is so fun….i am trying to grow my natural nails out now from back to back gel x application. I have been using builder gel and as soon as I apply it pops off. I was thrilled to have come upon something that may work for me. I am anxious to try and see. ❤Nurse MJ

Can you extend the nail a tiny bit woth rubber base gel and nail forms? Will this work? Thanks 😊

Hi! Unfortunately base gel isn’t strong enough on its own- you’d need builder gel or polygel or something like that - it’s much stronger!

Question:..... Can u build your apex with say LE jimmy gel and your free edge with rubber base gel???? Or vice versa??? ❤❤❤❤❤❤ love your videos lots of good info for us diy-ers
@NicolesBeautyScene8 ай бұрын
Great question!! I wouldn’t use rubber base to build an extensions. You could use it as the base gel before applying builder gel over that and making the extensions with the builder gel! I haven’t tried LE Jimmy gel but I just ordered it so I’ll do a video once I get it!!

@@NicolesBeautyScene what about rubber base gel over a no well tip then apex builder gel?

Hi Nicole, I'm not one to go to nail salons and try my best to do for myself. I have a natural high apex c shaped nails that curve down a bit. I do want to do an overlay with rubber base gel to help grow out and protect my natural nail without making them look thick and the apex even higher. Can you recommend a form of application that would give me the best result? Thank you.
@NicolesBeautyScene10 ай бұрын
Hi! If you have a natural C curve- that’s great! You could use rubber base or builder gel. Rubber base cures more flexible while builder gel cures hard. When my nails are short- i use both rubber base and builder gel. But when they’re long- I have to at least have builder gel over my rubber base because I tend to be very hard on my nails! Do your nails break easily?

I'm thinking of getting V Beauty Pure's rubber base and hard gel and using this way! is your hard gel clear?
@NicolesBeautyScene8 ай бұрын
Hi Janet!! The builder gel is I’m using is actually considered a soft gel only bc you can soak it off but it still cures hard. True hard gel cannot be soaked off- only filed off! I sometimes use the clear builder gel from OG Dip Powder if I’m not using color builder gel! They have amazing builder gels and rubber base gels that are hema free!! ogdippowder.com/products/og-dip-powder-hema-free-builder-gel-in-a-jar
@janetjenkins57458 ай бұрын
@@NicolesBeautyScene You really have me contemplating. I think this may be the idea scenario for me. I don't really want to ever soak off, I hate acetone. I like filing down and doing a fill. So in this case, would I be e-filing the hard gel completely off every time I did a fill with rubber the rubber base? Also thank your for the tip about OG Dip Dip Powder. I just found out VBP is not HEMA free.
@NicolesBeautyScene8 ай бұрын
@@janetjenkins5745 yea if you’re using the rubber base as a base gel- you’d want to file the hard gel off as much as possible. I haven’t tried hard gel over rubber base so I’m not sure how it would stay! I’ve only used builder gel with rubber base!!

What was the cuticle nail bit from Mercari?

I’ve been getting softgel nail extensions for about 5 or 6 months and by the 2nd month i noticed I’ve been getting allergies my skin near the cuticle got dark and after a session my hands would itch and then it’ll blob and itll look like i have eczema. I’ve never had it before getting softgel extensions. So is the reason really the low quality uv light? The Glue? Or the gel nail polish ?
@NicolesBeautyScene9 ай бұрын
Hi! I’m so sorry that happened! It sounds like a gel allergy unfortunately. Do you know if your salon is using high quality hema free brands? Unfortunately some salons use low quality cheap brands with hema and di- hema in them. Gel allergies can develop over time especially if using brands with ingredients that commonly cause allergies. To avoid losing your nails or causing worse skin problems, you need to remove everything and let your nails heal. Once you find out the ingredients your salon uses in their products, your safest bet would be to get nail allergy testing at an allergist!
@chietopiaasmr9 ай бұрын
@@NicolesBeautyScene oh wow thanks for your response! Didn’t know that’s possible. I didn’t have allergies before even if I choose gel polish. Then there’s the uv light curing. It only started happening quarter 4 last month. So I should look for the ingredient hema or dihema?
@NicolesBeautyScene9 ай бұрын
@@chietopiaasmr those are 2 of the most common gel allergens but you could be allergic to more. Some people can use hema free gels but others can’t use any gels. That’s why it’s important to get all the ingredients used from your salon (including in the primer or bond they use) and have that list when you see an allergist. They can do a nail allergy testing panel! I can’t remember if that’s the exact name for the allergy testing. But they should know what it means! I’ve had some friends do nail allergy testing so they know what to use and not use!

So is rubber base soft gel?
@NicolesBeautyScene5 ай бұрын
@@lucymoore403 yep! Any gel that’s soak off is technically soft gel even if it cured hard! So builder gel cures hard but is considered a soft gel bc it typically can be soaked off! A true hard gel cannot be soaked off!

Unfortunately it’s a gel product so no you wouldn’t be able to! Do you know if you’re only allergic to hema gels or can you use hema free gels?

My overlay always lifts up from the free edge 😭 i guess its coz of water but idk. Also my hands turn black after using uv lamp so i can't do gel paints frequently 💔
@NicolesBeautyScene10 ай бұрын
Ooono!! You definitely want to do a dry nail prep when doing a gel overlay. And make sure to use dehydrator AND primer specially for gels so the gels have something to make them adhere to your nails. Your hands definitely shouldn’t change colors after using a lamp. What lamp are you using? I only do gel for my overlay every few weeks and then I dip over top of it!
@BuriBuriZaimoN080810 ай бұрын
@@NicolesBeautyScene i use cuticle softner for prep. I do use a dehydrator and an air dry primer. I use a sun uv 36W lamp I got it from a seller in my country (India)

@@BuriBuriZaimoN0808 skip the liquid cuticle remover. That is likely making your gels lift! How long are you curing? 69 seconds?
