Hi Martin, thank you so much for the wealth of information, not only in this video but in all the others as well. My wife and I have yet to even buy an RV as we are about two years out and have learned so much from your videos. With many out there on KZbin and what have you, I tend to always revert back to yours as your MOI is very easy to follow and you explain things patiently and with repetition. Cheers

Another point is when you are looking at your coolant hoses to look at the hose clamps. These over time will rust out and can be a point of failure. Don't forget your heater hoses too. If you have a F53 you may need to take the access cover off from the inside. This is the just the access cover not the large cover. There is one heater hose that come has a clamp on it visible.
@RVstreet4 жыл бұрын
Yep we do that too. Hoses, clamps and everything in the engine bay. And yes the heater hose too. I actually found a real possible failure point in the heater hose where it went around a sharp corner and the vibration of the chassis was wearing a crease in the hose about 1/2 thru the hose. I replaced the hose and clamps and then wrapped that hose in split loom. This is why I teach all the time to constantly inspect and watch for possible failure points all the time and be proactive to fix these things before bad things happen. Thx for that Bob. 👍

Hi Martin and Joanie….really, really great tips here! Thank you very much! Martin…can you envision the 303 doing this function on your slide rubber and rubber hoses?

No. Slide rubber and rubber hoses need to be conditioned to keep them soft and pliable.

Do you use this rubber conditionner on the rubber around the windows?

No. I use RejeX. I apply this as my final coat over the entire RV instead of wax. RejeX really helps repel and protects everything from damaging UV rays.

Great video! Have you had to replace the seals on the slide of this coach or any other one you might have owned? I have a 2008 Thor Chateau (aka Four Winds?) with the seal around the slide being one piece, as as opposed to 4 separate pieces, sides, top and bottom. I made the mistake of leaving the slides out when it rained last week and water has intruded on the floor under the slide. You can also see daylight when extending a retracting the slides.....probably not a good sign. I can't seem to find any information on how to replace the one piece seal around the slide out. I'm thinking it may be easier to replace all of the seals with completely new seals system....would you agree? I'm pretty handy and I know I can do this.

No I haven't had to replace any seals but yes I would definitely replace them if your getting water intrusion. You can probably find what you're looking for here: uni-grip.com/products/slide-out-seals

Do you also do your steering bushings and ball joints and bushings? Scotty Kilmer another KZbinr 40 yr Mechanic swears by At-205 re-seal. He puts it in a little spray bottle and sprays all the rubber and bushings. He says it will rejuvenate the rubber. I’ve used it for about a year and everything looks good. I was wondering if you have tried that product? Thank you for all the info. It’s great to see Mx type videos.
@RVstreet3 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried that product because I really like the conditioner I use as I showed. Really keeps rubber from drying out and keeps it soft. One can does all my rubber stuff outside and everything under the chassis. For me since I'm a full timer, I like products that have multiple purposes to save on storage room and money. The main thing is that these things get done with a good product and do it once a year.
@AmericanMX3 жыл бұрын
@@RVstreet exactly. Do it right and correct the FIRST time. My wife and I are looking for our first class A. Excellent video as usual helpful. I wonder the difference between the Thetford Slide lube and other brands? Have you tried others?
@RVstreet4 жыл бұрын
A couple, but I like this the best because it's creamy, easy to apply, easy to clean up, it penetrates, it really softens/renews the rubber and has UV inhibitors and I just like it overall. 😜
@hermes65874 жыл бұрын
@@RVstreet sounds great I will give it a try. Thanks for all your excellent videos
@erich98493 жыл бұрын
Is 303 ok to use instead of Thetford for all the hoses and seals?
@RVstreet3 жыл бұрын
You could use 303 in-some areas-if you wanted to, but 303 is a UV protectant not a conditioner and therefore has to be reapplied several times a year. Thetford is both a protectant and a conditioner and applying it once a year is all that is needed. 303 is great for tires though. Think of all the rubber you have under the chassis and in the engine bay. No sun gets there but all that rubber can get dry so protecting it from UV doesn't do anything. You want to condition that rubber. That's why I use Thetford on all my rubber stuff. One product does it all.
@Chimp_64 жыл бұрын
Do you also use the same conditioner on the outside frames of regular (non-frameless) windows?

Another great video! I use 303 for my seals, hoses and tires. Do you think 303 shouldn't be used in this way, or maybe the product that you use is just better? Keep up the good work 😃
@RVstreet4 жыл бұрын
303 is great for tires because it protects them from UV rays if they're not kept covered. One of the main things that keeps tires healthy though is running them. And run them often at the proper PSI. Tires don't need an applied conditioner like the soft rubber stuff I covered in the the vid along with the additional things I listed in the description text.
@mikebuskuhl30414 жыл бұрын
Do you also use this lubricant on the seals around the windows?
@RVstreet4 жыл бұрын
It's not a lubricant but a conditioner. We have double pane windows and I do polish those thick black rubber seals around the windows when I polish the coach, and then I apply my RejeX to them along with the coach. I clean them often too when I clean the windows. But you can and sometimes I do use this conditioner on those window seals when I'm doing the whole coach's rubber stuff and I remember the window seals. But honestly, sometimes I forget. But for me, it's no big deal because I take care of them all year round anyways. It's smart to keep them clean, soft and protect them from the harsh UV from the sun. Most rubber parts of any kind hates the sun and getting dry. thx Mike 👍
@davehaag81754 жыл бұрын
Does that stuff work for plastics too? To keep it from getting brittle...also, i would imagine its good for window rubber too, that stuff really dries out

@RVstreet3 жыл бұрын
@@escape1950 Here's what I'd suggest. My best advice would be, every manufacturer of any RV has what they call a "Sealant Callout Sheet". On that sheet they specify what sealants should be used on different areas of the RV. I'd go to their website and download their sheet and that should answer your questions. If you draw a blank there, let me know and I'll suggest something. 👍
