Yes Davao is the best City to live in the Philippines for sure. I used to live there for over 7 years, now I’m exploring Thailand but I would for sure go back to Davao to live. I am from Bacolod and we moved to Davao city when I was 16. I was so impressed how Davaoenos are so disciplined, plus I felt so safe walking around the town even at night because of the police cars patrolling the street. Low cost of living as well.

Been to Davao since my wife is from Mindanao and we lived in Malaybalay, we were able to visit there many times. We also lived in Baguio. LOVED Baguio and plan on retiring there. I was in Baguio when the roof got blown off the mall during a typhoon. I was actually IN the mall when it happened. But you are right, Rubeauti, it is safe and a great place to live in the Philippines if you don't like the heat in the rest of the country. My wife and I used to walk late at night around Burnham Park and never had any problems. Of course, I think everyone's been to Cebu. I think Cebu is very safe in certain areas, but can be very unsafe in other areas. It depends on where you are. ;) PS - Did you ever compete in a beauty pageant? I moved from LA, Calif., USA to Talisay (just south of Cebu) in 2010. I have always felt safe and welcome in the Philippines wherever I go (I have visited Bohol, Leyte, Samar, Palawan, the Kapangan area) the people are the sweetest, friendliest people I have ever met, I found my sweet asawa here. These places are all so beautiful, everywhere I go in the Philippines is my happy place. Philippines is my home now, don't want to ever go back to America, especially Calif. where I come from, all the news that I hear is that it has descended into anarchy. There was a proposition that passed some time after I left that reclassified a lot of crimes as misdemeanors so the police just don't really bother about them because of the revolving door court system. Combine that with George Soros sponsored DAs that don't believe in prosecuting criminals and it seems like the most dangerous places in the Philippines are safer than most Democrat controlled cities in the USA.
@skybox-fs6dv2 жыл бұрын
We are glad you left sir. I can tell you have built in biases and the proposition that passed reducing felonies to misdemeanors were warranted. They overcharge for crimes here, such as minor drug and property crimes. Those reductions should have never been felonies anyway. I live in LA and I vote in every election. So when you exposed yourself, I knew what you were going to say. Stay there and be happy. Don't come back. Don't vote here if you're living there.😂😂😂😂

Davao has 911 because of former President Duarte’s and his family. His son is the Mayor and we all know Duarte was tough on crime and probably did some not so politically correct types of punishment but it was effective and crime was reduced. My first long stay (5 months) was in Makati. It was like downtown Los Angeles where I work in USA but doesn’t have all the homeless are drug addicts living on the streets. As with any international travel major city, it’s crowded. We prefer the smaller Provence cities next to the beach. We really liked Dipolog, the don’t allow all the street vendors and limit trikes. The keep the seaside very clean, just like Duma and Iloilo. Believe me, this is not all seaside places. Inland cities are just not appealing unless you’re in a mountain home with view of nature. But places that are just crowded inland cities plus crowded and not clean are not someplace I would want to stay. Thanks for sharing this great information, I’m looking forward to cycling through many of those cities that you mentioned.

My wife and I have a house that's between Santa Rosa and Tagaytay in a gated subdivision. We live off of Santa Rosa Tagaytay Road and we have a good view of People's Park In The Sky. We also live about 19km (12 miles) north of the main crater of Taal. I was there for the eruption on January 12, 2020. I think that the eruption caused it to rain and we had ash mixed in with the rain. It made everything a mess. Then there were countless earthquakes caused by the movement of the magma which shook the house so many times that night, Even after living through that the pandemic came but it's not enough to make me want to move. My wife, sister in law, brother in law and I were in Tagaytay on January 10, 2020 celebrating my birthday (January 9) and I said that it would make good pictures and videos if Taal was erupting. Little did I know that two days later Taal would be erupting. Anyway it's not every day that you get to see a volcano erupting. We went five days without electricity in our subdivision. Just trying to give people something to think about before buying or renting a place.

To kind of put things in perspective, with maybe the exception of Manila, I haven’t been to any place in the Philippines as dangerous as East St. Louis, South Central L.A., Washington D.C., Miami, etc,. And the most dangerous place I’ve ever been to is The American South. Violence you don’t have much to worry about. However in the rural American South pretty much everyone has been to a funeral where the deceased last words were…”Hey y’all, watch this!”. You have to watch out for these folk in the U.S. They are far more dangerous than criminals. LOL

A question for anyone who knows: Baguio City is listed as being safe, but when I look at dozens of random places on Google Streetview it seems that most homes have high spiked fences, metal gates, and bars on the windows. Sometimes the bars are built discretely in the glass of the windows, but you can still see them. It also seems like it's not uncommon for people to put up barbed wire on top of fences too. If the city is so safe why do they do this? Is it just safe from being murdered or attacked, but a high chance of someone breaking into your home?
