Highlights of the hard punching former top Middleweight contender.

Rubin Carter - Was a middleweight boxer who was wrongfully convicted of murder and later released following a petition of habeas corpus after spending almost 20 years in prison. In 1966, police arrested both Carter and friend John Artis for a triple-homicide committed in the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey. Police stopped Carter's car and brought him and Artis, also in the car, to the scene of the crime.

No, people say he's guilty because of the overwhelming evidence; he was released because of white guilt - it had nothing to do with evidence.
@TainoMantis
@TainoMantis 6 жыл бұрын
@Lou Duva - Carter wasn't a peaceful individual. Even before that murder case, he already had a rap sheet. But the murder case wasn't based upon solid evidence. It was hear-say testimony within an extremely corrupt and violent inner city in New Jersey. And the evidence they did have was shady at best. No fingerprints, no processing for gun powder residue, mismatch of specific ballistic identification, dismissal of recanted witnesses, etc, etc. Even if the defendant isn't a "good" person - cases must be processed with evidence as close to undeniable or concrete as possible.
@louduva9849
@louduva9849 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, Carter was a scumbag; that's well known. What else you say is arrant bullshit: there was more than enough evidence to warrant a conviction--in fact he was convicted twice. And nor did the (radical) judge who released him express belief is his innocence, let alone present supporting evidence. You assert that certain forms of evidence were missing, but fail to mention (or undermine) the wealth of evidence found and presented. At this point I don't think anyone familiar with the case actually believes Carter was innocent; it's sort of become a 'noble lie' in service of White Guilt. Carter got away with murdering three people for same reasons O. J. Simpson got away with murdering two. We know what those reasons are. And your last sentence is nauseatingly patronising.

@@DopeBoysofAtlanta Hi Danni, I trained with him for all his major fights, I also visited him in prison from the day he went in to the day he got out. He never lifted weights. In training camp he duplicated what he did in prison plus all the sparring of course and other training. We did sets of 100 pushups until we hit 1000 with our feet elevated on the ring apron, super setted with sets of 100 ab crunches until we also hit 1000. Ran 6 miles every morning at 5AM up and down hills in Chatham NJ, plenty of heavy bag work, speed bag and rope. He was amazing.

Stunning footage. Incredible conditioning (in an age before nutritionists, luxury diet and power shakes), brilliant defense and technical fundamentals, knock-out power with both hands, bad intentions with every punch, fearless, intimidating, a champion's heart, handspeed... p4p by a mile if you teleported him to today as the exact fighter he is in this brilliant film.

It is all bullshit fighters back then trained all year, were tougher, fought eachother. Running all year and eating good does everything machines do now. Carter can fight and guys at 160 today aren't as good and Carter wasnt dominant. Even Carter unfocused beats guys today. What an absolutely monstrous tragedy, the story of what was perpetrated on this great man's lite. As witnessed in this footage above, this remarkable lad could have quite possibly have gone. gone on to be regarded as, and ranked among the greatest pound for pound fighters in the history of the sport, let alone world champion. l auspect it is very possible that at the time the authorities feared the rise of another indomitable and charismatic African American of similar nature, situation, and circumstances as those of Jack Johnson before, and inspiring the African American populace at such a point in time. So fkd up!!!.. What an incredible atrocity and robbing of life was perpetrated against this amazing. Bob Dylan's song : " The Hurricane " states the exact sentiments and the facts thereof. Cus already had Floyd Patterson who adopted the Peek-a-boo style, Carter was a good fighter but he had no impact on Tyson.

Look into the case ,alot of it is there to see on the internet ,there was overwhelming evidence he was guilty . After watching the movie I became a huge fan of the Hurricane but its just a big lie ,he was a cold mother fucker , a good fighter but a violent human being , he wasn't set up and he was awarded release by a liberal judge but never had his conviction overturned . Watching his fights though man this guy could bang .

There was a guy running a website that just took apart his book as full of lies with tons of proof. Ruben made up a lot of stuff including drawing in medals on a photo when he actually won no medals.

Funny what u say about him. If this story is true why don't u start with being sentenced to "10" years as an 11 year old while escaping from a "pedophile" - being put in jail and separated from his parents as an 11 year old child - by this still prejudice system - so going to jail at 11 for doing nothing might make one a little angry -

@@danielrodgers6278 What was the motive? I watched the movie and it was never mentioned the motive for the murders. It just looked like they went in there, shot the 3 people and left. What the hell was the motive? The movie showed a guy go in after the murders and took the loot out of the register.

That was Jimmy Ellis. Jimmy Ellis wasn’t that good of a middleweight. He obviously gained pounds, that is why he fought Smokin’ Joe Frazier.

This is the good shit! He may have been a psychopathic murderer, but he was a hell of a boxer; it's very telling that in his day he was considered a bit of a crude slugger but to our eyes today he has quite sophisticated defensive moves and good boxing skill. (The win over Griffith was a fluke, though - like Nunn-Kalambay.) EDIT: I forgot haNZAgod did an excellent 'Defensive Slips & Rolls' video on Carter. Worth watching!

Hi Ron, yes I will check that out! You are so lucky to have shared a ring with such ferocious fighters like Tiger Depaula Gonzales and Carter! Did you also share a ring with Florentino Fernandez? That man had some left hook

I was also wondering if you ever or trained with a fighter named Artie Diamond? He had a reputation and was nicknamed " the man who never ducked a punch " not alot on the man. He was trained by Cus DAmato for a while.

Honestly I'm wondering if he's really a murderer? I mean he lost a lot of flight he 128 and lost 12 like a 70%, my great-uncle was a professional fighter that was about his percentage he actually fought Sugar Ray Robinson, the so-called greatest pound-for-pound fighter ever. But since Hollywood made a movie about this guy and my eyes are open to Hollywood 100% now I'm wondering if it was all propaganda? I could be wrong I mean I'm just wondering here? The point being is to question everything we live in the age of Deceit and deception controlled by a small very small percentage of the population. And that is 100% fact

Gotta look at Rubin's record though he beat some awesome fighters, fancy looking records back then weren't common. Fighters fought more often and against high level opposition.
