Ash Grey looks awesome on the oak and I love Savanna and Havana both on all three wood types! I was pleasantly surprised with how nice these colors are on the Birch Plywood too. This was a fantastic video and good on ya for going the extra mile with the engraved lettering… it’s probably the smartest thing anyone could do considering the writing would be really distracting and detracting from your discussion making 👍👍👍

A really well conducted colour test!! Great detail in your process. I must say, the Oak seemed to accept the Rubio the best in my opinion. I have some Chocolate Rubio I am about to use on Oak. Hope it goes well....

On the white oak, the oil poly, water poly, pure, and black, were the only ones that still looked natural. the rest looked stained or like they had some tint or sheen on them. I was looking at this because I have two pieces of oak and one looks fairly light and natural and the other looks darker and and wanted to see how to make them match. The pieces looked like black, and water poly in tone. So these ones I mentioned look like natural tones across the spectrum of possible white oak tones

Hi!! I have question. When I buy water poly where should I buy it?? And what’s the difference between the top and bottom of the blue line?

The water poly I used is "General Finishes High Performance Flat". You can find it on Amazon by searching this name. I used the blue tape to separate Rubio test pieces from the water/oil poly pieces. As the main topic of this video is about different colors of Rubio, water poly and oil poly are just used for reference.

Not really. Only the test pieces engraved "Water Poly" and "Oil Poly" were applied with water based poly and oil based poly respectively. These two types of test pieces were used as comparison. Other test pieces were cleaned with mineral spirits and then applied Rubio. Rubio cannot be applied on top of poly.

I will choose Rubio Super White for birch. This color will make the birch look like unfinished wood and reduce the yellow tone of birch. You may check out this video. I used Rubio Super White on the birch table top in this build. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIK5qK2LnNN0lc0

You don't need to use Rubio Pure if you choose Super White. In general, Super White = Pure + White pigment. Color wise, they can show big differences on wood. Pure will darken/yellow the wood like most of other oil based finishes. Super White will make the wood a little bit more white than the bare wood due to the white pigment in it.
