The fact that you go in and give it a mom refresh every so often and are training her to care for her room and things in it is absolutely priceless. Kristen you have created a lovely bedroom for your daughter. The Brooklinen sheets and comforter look so cozy!! Speaking of cleaning a child's room; we were just in Omaha and helped our 11 yr old grandson clean his room. I think it was too overwhelming for him and so my husband taught him how to break down the mess into piles, etc. and move forward. We told him the saying, "inch by inch is a cinch, yard by yard is hard". We wanted him to learn that doing a little bit at a time is more manageable then trying to get it all done at once is hard. Our grandson was SO proud of his room and thanked his Papa several times for helping him. Now let's see how long it will last!! Your home is so beautiful and warm. Blessings to you and your family!!

Love Ruby and her refreshed room! I can relate to Ruby. I was the middle daughter and very messy. Now that I am a 68 yo granny, I look back and realize that I was always a creative type. I’m still messy, but also still creative, always have several fun projects going. Some tips I have learned: Make cleaning and tidying fun. A cute container for her dirty clothes, or make up a story, ie. she lives in the ancient woods and has to put up her clothes so the wolves will stay away. Use some of her artwork, framed, to encourage pride in her art and room decor My sister and I used to take pictures of our cleaned room, our little vignettes of our pink poodle collection, our favorite book stacks, our stuffed animals on the bed. I love finding those old b&w pics in my photo box! A ‘blitz’ cleaning before doing something fun on Saturday. Play a < 3 minute upbeat song and she has to get everything done before the song ends. I found with my kids and niece and nephew that if you make anything fun, it’s just easier to get kids to do it. BTW, I think you are a wonderful mother. Your 3 daughters have stolen my heart!

Ruby’s room is so sweet! I actually really, really like the oval framed print of the Victorian young woman. Pink sheets would also be very pretty in her room. I like that you put her fuzzy blanket in the corner chair. By the way, do Rosie and Ruby have a laundry basket in their rooms where they can toss dirty clothes? Maybe that would help with Ruby’s clothing mess on the floor. You could put a pretty thrifted wicker basket in each of their rooms to hold dirty laundry - either in their closet or in a corner. Kristen, your home in general is just so lovely and inviting. Something that may help and get Ruby motivated about picking up after hersel, could be a really cute large open canvas hamper. Make it a fun game for Ruby by telling her to roll up her clothes, and try and toss them in the hamper. You can let points add up, and she can redeem her points for money that she can buy herself something with at the thrift store, or a dollar store. It worked like magic with one of my friend's young daughter😊

I love visiting with you. I love blue anything and dishes!lol. I turned into my mother. I have 7 sets if dishes, but in my defense, I used to have dinner parties for our business 2-3 times a month. Im 74 and retired so dont do that anymore but I still love my dishes. I do use them whenever my family comes iver. Even the smallest grandchild eats on real dishes and goblets. If something breaks, and it never has, its just a dish. My older grandchildren say that is a precious memory for them. Now arent you sorry you asked us to tell you something about ourselves?lol❤

I think the curtain change is perfect. As far as the clothes on the floor and an unmade bed......these are life skills Ruby should be accountable for now. She is not too young to pick up after herself and make her bed. We had 3 girls in my house growing up. My father was the one who said... your mother is not responsible to clean your rooms. So it was a chore we were expected to do everyday. In return.... we got a beautiful home, clean clothes, a warm meal, and a place of peace to grow in, and a sense of personal responsibility. Something that not only benefits her, but you as well.

What a beautiful girl's bedroom!!! I love how you decorate!!! I'm 62 and became fascinated by power tools after I retired 5 years ago. Now I ask for power tools for my birthday, anniversary and Christmas. You just have to get over the initial fear and trust in yourself. Plus watching You Tube "How to" videos really helps.

I adore the simplicity in a childs room! I think it allows the space to breathe and prosper individuality as they grow and become their own person. It is so much easier to add or take away wall art or change linens. Versus revamping the room with themes/ designs as the child grows out of, let's say, certain toys, a wall color, etc. It still stays true to the overall aesthetic of the house 😊

Hi Kristin. I love the first two prints and loved the bunny, but the frame online on the other is worth something and actually found it interesting. Her room looks so pretty. I am older and sometimes our bedroom gets messy. I am not a neat freak and never will be when it comes to the rest of the house I am better. The bedding looks so comfy. I don’t know anything about power tools but would love to learn. Kristen, I went to our Goodwill. My husband runs hot and he wanted old fashioned thin Cotten tee shirts. They had one but it would have been down to his knees..oh no they had another North Face..completely worn out and wanted 10.99. Crazy. Kristen , I got a comment saying I won something from you..think someone is messing with your channel. Love seeing you all. Girls are precious.

I feel like this comment might be controversial, but I think that if our pillows/linens/quilts aren’t good enough for us or our family members, then they should not be considered good enough for our guests. I realize when family and friends come to our homes that they are not expecting to stay in a five star hotel, having said that though I have stayed at many a person’s home with what clearly are the reject linens, be they bed or bath. I strongly feel, as a part of my overall interior design, for guests to truly enjoy my home that they should be treated as treasured guests. To me that means, nicer sheets, newer towels, and extra toiletries placed in the bathroom should they forget anything. Bottled water, or a water carafe with glasses placed in the room is a nice touch as well. There is an extra pair of reading glasses available in the room and of course, all garbage cans are empty. Partial toilet paper rolls are replaced so that they are full. And extra toilet paper is readily available. These are the things that I have learned from staying at other peoples homes over the years. Definitely no criticism intended whatsoever just my somewhat bougie thoughts on the matter. Love your KZbin channel.❤
