From what I've seen and this is how I do the distinction. I have some ruby or redish sapphire that is colour change depending on the light. It can be a pinkish purple and be definitely in the sapphire classification. Or it can look shiny similar but different from a lustrous garnet. The ruby tends to glow more than shine but it dies shine but it's different in quality. Hard to explain but I can show my collection as it's hard to classify better some

So the Ruby I bought from TGGC/Gemporia was actually a pink sapphire and not a ruby? It's main colour is definitely pink not red.

How can you determine if a Ruby is from Burma? I bought one a few years ago from a flea market dealer who sold it to me as synthetic. I took it to 3 reputable jewelers and all 3 confirmed it is in fact a natural Ruby and 2 said it could be Burma. It's perfect and the most beautiful red I've ever seen. Clear, cut is very nice and gorgeous! One of the jewelers offered me $4800 for it. I know if he made that offer it's got to worth more. But, again, how is a ruby determined to be from Burma?

I just got a pink ruby for my birthday. it is predominantly red, but in the sunlight the pink really comes through. I also know the person that gave it to me, would be sure to purchase my actual birthstone. Great video!

I believe, the scientific community is clarify the real ruby as red sapphire and normal sapphire but only chromium gives red but titanium gives blue colour
