Also book Henry wouldn't steal a trophy after Peter was upset he didn't win a sports day race and thought his mum would be disappointed)

Somethings I have to say about book Ralph and Henry. The teasing and nicknames is pretty standard for a couple of 8 year old boys. I knew some boys who showed affection by physically fighting. Not inviting Henry to his birthday party…could you imagine Ralph’s parents allowing a notorious troublemaker into their house? Wealthier families have a standard they want to live up to and Henry definitely does not fit that standard.

I always liked Ralph he’d come through for Henry so many times and when he’d make mistakes by saying “I hope my new friends are more generous than you lot” and it hurt Ralph he may not have been able to say sorry but Ralph knew what he meant and forgave him Henry made a mistake and Ralph understood that Plus despite Ralph being super rich and loaded he never ever disregarded Henry or pushed him aside like his no good parents did despite his wealth he still stuck by Henry helping him out in times of need or staying by his side to support him in decisions and plans and what not If Henry didn’t have anybody else his own brother enjoying getting him into trouble and his parents straight up neglecting him then he certainly had Ralph because Ralph was always there for him Ralph was my favourite character in the whole show and most the times instead of being rude he’s kind and can actually be helpful in many things ❤

Most of the characters from the books are fairly different to the series. The series fleshes them out more and most are more tolerable. The books make you question whether Henry is the way he is because he's bullied and the other kids look down on him. Ralph is an ally with Henry sometimes and a rival or tease in others. I would also consider Brainy Brian a close friend to Henry in the series, even he is completely different in the books as in the books he usually just made fun of Henry like when Henry tried to swap those tickets to him.

You didn't notice this but in the episode Horrid Henry and the Early Christmas... when Henry decided to bring Mum a cup of tea in the middle of the night you will notice that the Dad aka Silly Simon is not in the same bed as his Mum. This is animation therefore it is not an error. Then... when Henry wakes up in the morning and sees that he has a present and asks what it's all about... who steps in? But Silly Simon and he explains with pleasure to Henry that it was an early birthday present' this is hinting that it was Silly Simon that was setting out the present in the middle of the night as he wasn't in bed. Hinting that it wasn't Santa 😢.

I feel like if there was to be a real-world explanation for this shift in book Ralph to Season 1 Ralph to Ralph throughout the rest of the animated series, I'd say maybe in the books it was the first years they met, like 4th grade? And when they meet Ralph is different, but as he adapts to his friends and Henry, he becomes more of a season 1 Ralph.
