@@Phil_X Not sure why you are being so judgemental for people carrying their laptops? Even in this century, laptops serve a lot of purposes apart from just completing assignments. They are not heavy at all because in this century we have made developments which have led to very very light laptops compared to the laptops from 5-10 years ago (seems like you are a bit out of touch from reality). Not everyone likes doing their banking/travel plans/mails on their phone. Ease of use for office applications is not very good on phones when compared to a laptop (yes people do plan their travels on excel, word etc.). Not everyone has their emails on their phones, people like to keep their professional and personal lives separate, there is also remote work which you cannot do on your phone. Finally, not everyone likes watching movies on their phone, some people prefer a laptop. I personally carry my laptop while traveling so I can make music, play games etc. If you prefer to do things one way does not mean it is the ONLY way. Saying all that, do I agree with the passengers arguing? Not at all, its easier to answer the questions and move on. Do I agree that the questions were very generic? I know they are doing their job, but over the top paranoia. Coming over to see if the educational college is bona fide and not a scam, does not constitute an immigration breach. The mainland and overseas ethnic Chinese value education. They look highly educated middle class, unlikely they will work illegally in a restaurant. A few years ago there were many questionable colleges in Australia and were later closed down by authorities.
@lornawilliams-astley271613 күн бұрын
Whatever they are, they're rude and self entitled. I'd like to see them do this in China.
@CaterpillarFriend12 күн бұрын
I feel they could just say that then, instead of being hostile and cagey towards the border agents. “I’m coming to see the local culture and a visit a few of the major universities for my own personal research, as I am considering studying abroad some years in the future, but I want to know if I like it here first as a tourist. I may choose to study in a different country if I find it’s not a good fit.” Polite transparency won’t draw nearly as much suspicion as being abrasive and rude.
@kreteknl857510 күн бұрын
@CaterpillarFriend In an ideal world being so upfront and transparent is the corrrect way of doing things. But this is normal human defensive behaviour, you become defensive when asked personal questions by officials. Custom and immigration officials are intimidating and not friendly either. I have never come across an official with a warm smile with open arms " G'day mate, how are ya?". It just does not happen because of the nature of their job. It is very easy to comment these ladies should have behaved in a better way. For every action there is a reaction. I am not saying the officials are wrong, they are doing their job, but you have to understand in the context of natural human behaviour also known as psychology.

The attitude of the 2 Asian girls is concerning...i.e. especially if it's their first time entering the country? (showing no respect for Australian customs procedures...seemingly rude and entitled)! So full of contradictions...definitely said NO to both questions ie not wanting to work or study in Australia (carrying copy of resume etc....definite red flags!) This typical of these types of travellers . Entitled and with unjustified attitudes of superiority. They simply believe that the laws in this country don’t apply to them and that they can behave appallingly as a result. Perhaps being barred entry and or fined more heavily they might get it. Everybody else has to abide by these laws !!.
@ViralCog11 күн бұрын
Its because in "that" particular country,their people are made to believe that their passport is super powerful and other countries bow down before it. So they really think that they are some kind of privileged class and can do or so whatever they want. Especially if they are someone related to someone working in the gov of that country. Thats why you see this entitled rude behavior.
